The Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina

We didn't have a lot of time to get dinner after the Folk Festival on Saturday so enjoyed having a light dinner on the dock/patio at sunset.

The swimming pool is cold and dirty. Not really worth the money. They only let you park until 1pm on the day of check out.

Lovely hotel, right on Marina and beside Bowen’s Wharf. Walkable to all of downtown. Downside: amenity fee of $35/night The amenities were ONE water in room on arrival day. Should have supplied each day for $35 each nite. Other amenities were access to kayaks and indoor pool.I believe there was still a charge to use kayaks. Also parking was $35/ nite. I feel that guests should not have to pay at the hotel they are paying to stay at. Otherwise, lovely hotel. We ate breakfast at their outdoor restaurant each morning which was wonderful.

Property is in a great location. Able to park the car and leave it. Staff very friendly and helpful although wait staff were in short staff and yet tried very hard. Selection of breakfast items was good. Bathrooms are on the small side and lacking exhaust fans . Well stocked bar and there is music on the deck. I recommend this hotel and would return to it.

The staff was friendly, there was free parking, and it was walking distance to all of the shopping & restaurants. The rooms & indoor pool area could use some updating. Overall, we had a good stay & the convenience of the location was great.

Great location….that is the only positive thing I have to say. The extra charges are laughable. In addition to the $35/day parking fee, there is a $35/day “amenity” fee…..there is not even a gym on the premises! We will find another place to stay during our next visit to Newport, RI!

The location of this property is ideal. It is located right on the harbor/marina and adjacent to Bowen's Wharf which includes many options for dining and shopping! The ammenities are great as well. Use of kayaks, paddle boards, bikes, backyard firepits, adirondack chairs, hammocks, indoor pool, etc.

Have stayed here many times over the years both with our kids and just us as a couple and it’s steadily gone downhill!!! The indoor pool looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years and the vents on the ceiling were all rusted out!! In their restaurant it seemed like they only had to waitresses waiting tables and the rest cleaning them off!! The daily room cleaners just made the bed and didn’t even replace our used wet towels and left them sitting in bathroom!!! It used to be such a nice hotel in a great location but has gone way down in many ways so quickly!!!

Great location, central to Newport. It was very easy to park in the private lot. The staff were friendly. The pool was a nice size and clean. The hotel felt a little rundown overall. The bathtub in our room did not look clean and had hairs in it. There is a $35 amenity fee per guest per night that I was not expecting and as far as I can tell, there were no unique amenities. Just the pool.

The room floor was gross stained !! Bathtub and shower back up and toilet does not flush with it backings up !! The front end staff was rude especially the tall blond middle age lady !!

Bathroom had cracked sink and tile in tub area had mold. Should use tilex. Didn't clean our room 2nd day we were there and we had to call for clean towels.

You cannot beat the location. You are paying for the location and convenience and ‘walkability’ to restaurants and shopping and the marina. You will be paying for it in fees, including parking. The hotel itself looks nice from the outside and the parking is convenient. Inside is passable with decently-sized rooms. Cleanliness is not great- the shower was moldy, the towels had visible stains, the tissue box holder had dirt stains, the dark blue carpet was clearly stained a few places, one side of the bed closest to the wall was visibly not vacuumed, the tv did not work. But the staff were nice, and you could not beat the location.

The water for the shower came out yellow and dirty. We weren’t able to shower. The front desk rebated me $35 because of this but I have emailed the hotel and asked for a full refund. Not being able to shower is more of an inconvenience than $35

The bathtub was moldy around the caulking. When I filled the bath, the water was brown. There was a $35 amenities fee that was not included in our booking. What amenities exactly did I pay for? Dirty bath water? The parking lot gate was broken. I thought we were supposed to get breakfast but there was none.

Horrible stay dirty and staff was very rude and the took a hold for the whole amount of the hotel stay when I already had paid through hotels.com.

Was not thrilled with the cost of the hotel compared to the quality. When paying such a high price for a hotel, I would expect it to be clean and well taken care. Hotel is very outdated and poorly cleaned.

Hotel was a little outdated and in some disrepair (our room had some decor on the wall falling, windows were not cleaned and was not a clear view) and room dirtier than expected (we found clumps of hair on the floor upon check in). Area was perfect to be close to the wharf and downtown, but not worth the price.

The room was dirty and old. The 2 beds were very small and mattresses old. The hotel needs a makeover. Great location and view of the water n Marina. That’s why we stayed. People loud outside till very late at the fire pit. It’s right in front of all the rooms. Outside at and restaurant closed.

The rooms could use a renovation. The beds are so uncomfortable and there is zero air circulation. The staff is friendly and helpful. Walls are paper thin and you can hear the neighboring rooms conversation as if you’re in the same room. Great location and easy walk to everything. Despite the outdated room, I’d still stay here again for the price and convenience.

We love Newport and have stayed at this hotel before. this time we stayed in a walkout marina room. The view was lovely. However, the door didn’t seal well and we could see outside though the crack in the door making it a loud and cold evening.

Extremely loud… inside and outside. On top floor.. yet something was banging overhead both nights. Thin walls…. Outdated

Good location to area attractions and dining. Rooms and lobby a bit dated.

On the plus side, the location and view was fantastic, the water pressure in the shower was great, the mattress was comfortable and the pillows were great. Also the manager was very helpful and friendly, but I didn’t find that in the other employees. The room was very noisy, can hear people above and around us. Older hotel, so bathroom lacked a fan so walls, ceiling and mirrors all wet and foggy. Also some tv channels did not come in. Small tv.

Great location, the property was clean and staff were amazing. The only downfall was the air conditioner in the room. It was so loud that it kept me us both up all night. Worst nights sleep we’ve had in a while. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

The location of this hotel is great! Unfortunately, the walls are so thin in the rooms that we could hear every little thing from the people above us and next to us, that we did not get any sleep!

The location is perfect. Everything you need is usually within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel rooms, however, could use a refresh. Clean rugs, a vent in the bathroom, newer furniture, and windows that actually open properly and ice machines on every floor. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the harbor view was great.

Can’t beat the location and great to have guaranteed parking in town. The room was a little small for our family of four for three days. Sitting chair jammed on the corner with no real space… no clock in the room… freestanding sink had no vanity space to put things on or under… no overhead light so hard to use the full length mirror… but… Beds and pillows were comfortable and clean. And appreciated the $15/night voucher to the attached bar/restaurant!

Hotel was short housekeepers so we never got maid service in our four night stay; they did credit our bill for half the Amenity/resort fee We expected a lot more in this older but very nice hotel Great location near shopping and the wharf Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful

Excellent location and staff was very friendly. Ample parking and very convenient for anyone looking to stay right near downtown Newport.

I had only 1 complaint. The room coffee maker was broken. I called about 6:45 to ask if there was any complimentary offerings. The man I spoke with stated they would need to get engineering and would call me back. I was told I could get coffee in the restaurant for a fee. Needless to say it was an hour before Miranda called our room to see what the problem was. Unfortunately we ended our visit early. We were hoping to enjoy the morning sitting by the harbor sipping our coffee.

The front desk was not very kind & checking in

First of all, Michael at the front desk was excellent. Polite, professional and very informative. All staff interactions were very pleasant. My love, Dave Gleason and I have come here this week for the last 4 years to celebrate our anniversary and it never ever disappoints. This was the first year we had a walk-out courtyard room and it was amazing. The door is a little difficult to slide but it's an old hotel after all. The location is perfection. We look forward to returning year after year.

Left a jacket in room and staff could not find it. I believe it was stolen by the staff.

Let me preface by saying that the staff that I dealt with during my actual weekend stay were wonderful. However, today I noticed a double charge on my bank account. I called my bank who told to contact the hotel directly. This was the most aggressive and nasty customer service I’ve ever encountered from any one at any level from any business!! A man who CSA is his Michael, referred to himself as a manager spoke to me in the rudest manner and proceeded to tell me that no one else can assist me but him and that he’s not giving me his last name. That I will just need to wait and deal with this with my bank. He told me that it’s not his problem or issue. After pushing and ask to speak with a decent human being, he gave me the full name of a manager who was due in the next shift. Meanwhile he was still Michael with no last name. I intend to personally name Michael in every review, whic by the way I never take the time to complete. I intend to warn everyone I know who frequent Newport,RI to never stay at the Newport Harbor Hotel!!! I intend to reach the helm of this establishment in effort to let them know they need to either replace Michael or keep in a back closet. During all his rudeness he told me that he didn’t have time to deal with me because he had customers in front of him!!! Lucky them!

Great location. Beautiful views of the harbor, very close to shops and restaurants. 10 minute walk to free hop on hop off shuttle to the Newport Mansions. Nice restaurant/bar onsite.

Great location, very easy to get to shopping and restaurants. Walking distance to free public transportation for Cliff Walking. So convenient. Room was a little dated and small. Beds were hard, wouldn’t have wanted to sleep on it more than one night. Loved the fire pits on the marina. Breakfast was good and pretty setting, and your receive $15 voucher at check in. We had a Harbor view room and it was very pretty!

Very conveniently located & easy walking distance to everything. The hotel was very clean & had a nice restaurant & bar. The only drawback was the restaurant & bar are closed by 9pm on Friday’s & Saturday’s. Not ideal for a hotel when it’s sold out for the weekend.

Great location the heart of Newport. Restaurant was just so so!

We chose this hotel for its location and walkability to restaurants and shopping. The internal restaurant, though pretty in location, sucked for food.

Great location! Amenities were adequate and clean. Loved the daily happy hour option and nice breakfast available in the morning. In walking distance to main shopping and dining areas. Short drive to mansion tours and cliff walk. Daughter loved it. Would stay again

Beautiful views and great breakfast outdoors

We stayed on Monday and Tuesday nights and the restaurant was closed for dinner both nights. No ice machine on second floor. No microwave in the room. It took getting three different sets of keys to finally be able to get into our room. They ran out of complimentary wine. Website said there was a fitness center but there wasn’t. They had a pass to go the YMCA. When we arrived the tub had hair and soap around the drain. Breakfast food was good at the hotel restaurant. Bed was comfortable. They let us check in early.
