Motel 6-Newport, RI

No coffee pot! No drawers! Room 220. No plug outlets! Rugs. Wet outside in hallway and a ghastly stench of disinfectant everywhere! Opened window; dangerous no screen! Bathtub running constant trickle of water. Toilet roll holder broken; someone left us a toilet paper roll small roll that had already been opened and used.No clock; no Kleenex. No refridgerator. No elevator. No ice machine on 2 nd floor. Unsafe to go downstairs at nite for ice.

The doors from the outside do not lock so anyone can enter the hotel.

The property smelled like pot! The TV channels did not work, they said they had coffee in the morning but they ran out of cups! Room was dark and dingy and there was no shampoo samples. Back door to building did not work, had to walk around to front entrance to get in! Overall it was terrible!

No microwave. Broken lighting. No toiletries. Awful am coffe

TV had one channel only. No blankets. Scruffy environment. Stairway dirty (railings/floor). No elevator, okay, just should know.

Safety locks on room door and rear door did not work

Exceptionally fast check-in, which is always welcome. Unfortunately the sink faucet emitted a weak spray with the water temperature not exceeding lukewarm; the shower, on the other hand, did get very hot. Plastic cups or face tissue was not provided in the bathroom.

It was truely not what we expected .The service desk person was very nice .Room was clean the tub not so much .The doors were locked and we couldn’t use our pass key to get in had to go in by the lobby also there was no microwave

This is an older motel. They provided basic services, but no little extras. For example, there was no shampoo or conditioner in the shower. However, the employees could not have been more helpful. We stayed here because the hotels closer to Newport were much more expensive.

I booked a non-smoking room but overall property including my room was really smelly. I'm not sure if they cleaned the smell from previous smoking incidents. Next one is big. Every hotel room is supposed to have a dead bolt that cannot be opened using a key card or outside. the dead bolt is a must for me in any hotel room. Here the dead bolt was not working and when I requested the property admins for help, they simply said - no body complained before and we cannot change room. No solution was offered and my concern was not even acknowledged. Felt like leaving but forced to stay as it was quite late in the day.

I have always previously had a good experience with Motel 6. The rooms have always been clean and modern. But in this property, rooms have strong smell of mildew. The bedding is damp. Some sort of tiny black droppings on the sheets. I will no longer trust Motel 6 after this experience.

This might be the most disgusting motel I’ve ever been to. Not only was the lobby a disaster, which in hindsight should’ve been my first red flag, but the room we stayed in was beyond filthy. Cobwebs all over the place, dust and mold growing on the walls and floor, and the bathtub was covered in visible stains. The staff were extremely rude and unwelcoming, and on top of all this, I found out I got a horrible infection from my stay because of all the mold. I do not recommend this place one but and if I could I’d demand a full refund. Worst stay ever and hope the place gets shut down for its disgusting atmosphere.

Dirty, dirty, dirty. Mold on the floor and stains on the sheets. Left right away and they would not refund us after a woman told us we would get refunded the next day when the manager was on duty.

The hotel definitely needs to be upgraded. The floors were dirty. The bathroom was moldy and paint was chipping.

Moldy. Pillows smelled like smoke. Damp. Sleep in your car.

Great location, just really dirty. Paid $400 for my friends and I to stay there for 1 night. Place was so dirty I didn’t even want to put my clothes on the ground. It was the closest one to the concert we went to, wouldn’t recommend unless under the same circumstance.

This motel was so unclean. Things were falling off the walls. The shower curtain was COVERED in mold. There was other peoples hair EVERYWHERE. the bathroom was disgusting. I could go on for a while but all in all, one of the dirtiest places I’ve ever seen.

This was perhaps the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. Stains on the carpets, walls, furniture. Weird smells. Loud guests up at all hours of the night. I would have demanded a refund but Newport was completely full the weekend I was visiting and there was nowhere else to go. Avoid at all costs!

It smelled terrible as soon as we walked in. The room felt wet even with the air conditioning on. Literally could not sleep because of the smell. It was dirty and the whole hotel smelled like weed. Would never go back.

The doors slam so hard all day and night. Whether it's fellow guests from other rooms or the side entrance doors. Loud guests kept me up all night entering and leaving room. Staff was also very loud screaming at each other in the halls

Staff as super friendly. However, the check in email had the incorrect check-in time, leading to a change of our plans. Also there were some kind of gnat in the pipes in the bathroom. We had to keep the door closed at all time to keep them away. The room had clearly been recently remodeled, which was nice.

I was attacked by a large dog in the reception area. I was locked out of my room twice because my card key wasn’t programmed correctly. There were no coffee makers in the room and the breakfast coffee was not available as advertised. There’s no sound proofing so other people could be heard very clearly even though they weren’t being particularly noisy. The room was reasonably clean but there was a strange smell by the door.

Bedroom linens although clean were paper thin. The beds were no more than a thin mattress over a double cot. One reading light over bed was out. Limited selection of TV stations. The tub shower faucet fixture is loose and ready to come off with more use. The property is in a good location but very, very, dated. It has great potential with an investment by the owners. The current room rates speak for themselves. One pays for what they get. In the property's present state, the room rates should be lower. Staff very friendly!

Need to have stronger shower head

Floors in room needed to be mopped. Staff was very friendly. Stairs in hallways could’ve been swept also. Had a broken headboard dangling off the wall. But other than that it was a good location. And I had a great time.

Room did not have fridge, microwave or king bed as stated in the booking.

Very skeevy. I walked into my "non-smoking room" and it reeked of old cigarettes, the bathroom worse than the bedroom. The plates to the electrical outlets were smashed and puckered and the hair blower (did not try) had the electronic circuitry at the base of the plug exposed. Appeared frankly dangerous. Soap and shampoo was of the lowest quality but shower, bed and towels were fine. TV worked well and over-sized. Staff-minimal interaction, but again fine. Would avoid in the future.

I arrived way later than intended thanks to the usual summertime flight issues. After I got checked in, I opened the room to find it was occupied. Front desk assured me it wasn't and I assured them that since their were clothes visible from the door, it was. Assigned to another room. Clerk went up to the room just to make sure it was good to go. And while I don't have high expectations for Motel 6, the room was "spartan" and I can deal with it. However, towel rack was gone in the bathroom. Fine ... but repair the holes and no one would know. There were black marks on the wall, maybe from make-up? Again, hit it with paint and be done with it. Hallways had trash. Tile on steps were broken and pieces missing. There was a mom-n-pop place up the road ... I might stay there next time.

The staff was most excellent there was no refrigerator and they said they would bring one and within 20 minutes they did they were very nice and helpful as It was clean and comfortable and Barking at 6 AM and late at night it was a very good stay hot water TV air conditioning although not conveniently located right on top of the bed still all good

Staff not helpful. Your room does not get cleaned until after you leave. You are not informed of this until you return in the evening and find your room uncleaned. When question about this regulation, I was told that it was because the visitors complained about the rooms being cleaned.

Got to speak with different workers Very helpful and friendly. Manager is a very hard worker and makes my day.

This was a horrible experience. It began with coming into the check in area and the front desk woman was less than friendly. I told her I booked a room and once she took my name she just said “yeah that room is t available” and just stared at me. I politely said “okay well I’ve already paid for it so what can we do” she rolls her eyes and looks through the system for about 5 minutes. I pulled up my receipt and invoice to hand to her because I was growing impatient and SUDDENLY after seeing it there was a room for two queen beds for less money. I said “that’s totally fine but I paid more for the other room ao I’d like to be reimbursed.” Rolls her eyes again and tells me I’ll have to come down at checkout and “they’d help me” rather than just do it there and then. Once we got to the room I was horrified. The ceilings were dirty, walls were dirty, the towel rack in the bathroom was falling out of the wall. The shower was still wet and had no water pressure. The beds are creaky wire and paper thin. It smelled like mothballs and the room was disgusting. You get what you pay for I guess. I never was reimbursed and I didn’t sleep a wink. Horrible, do not stay here.

I arrived at 510 pm,1hr and 10 min after checked in, the desk lady told me ,not sure if the room was ready?I asked could I have a 1st floor?NO:( she eventually gave me a second floor room.I entered and the room was not cleaned or ready.Back down stairs to find out no rooms ready again.Another guy checked inkers did not work.She had no clue what to do and kept texting the manager to no response :(I saw three other people walk in and get rooms??I got a room at 620 pmwas late to meet a friend,airconditioning was loud.I had to shut it off, low and behold the room stunk of vinegar .NO TOWELS in the room ,asked to have them put in the room when I went out,That did not happen.when I checked out ,desk person ,she said I was given them.A LIE! I pd $224,want a refund .

Our experience was awful. We booked through Expedia. Upon arrival we were told we did not have a reservation. They then “found my reservation” and said it had been canceled and told me to contact Expedia. I did and Expedia customer service said nothing was canceled and I 100% had a confirmed booking. They asked to put me on a brief hold to call motel 6. I was standing in the lobby and could hear the phone ring multiple times. The front desk woman that day did not answer the phone. Then told me she refused to answer because there was no manager to talk to Expedia and she refused to. Then proceeded to tell me my reservation was canceled and there was zero rooms available. We were in Newport for my brothers wedding and had the rehearsal dinner that we were running short of time. So my husband and I went out in parking lot frantically looking for other hotles in the area. Motel 6 popped up saying they had THEEE available rooms for that night. So my husband went back in and showed the front desk clerk. She began to tell him that the internet was wrong and there was none. After a few minutes she said let me call my manager and come back in in 5 minutes. My husband waited and went back in. In 5 minutes. Magically she had a room for us. It was 10min of 5 (5 was the start of my brothers wedding rehearsal dinner) so we ran to our room and quickly got ready. When we entered the room was filthy. Pee in the toliet. Hair all over bathroom sink. We checked out next morning.

The room was very dirty. The floors particularly. There were dirty nail clippings lying around, dust bunnies and black marks. They were sticky. The walls in the bathroom were dirty and sticky too. The water came out yellow/rust color in the tub. When I asked that it be taken care of, I was told that there was no one on staff to clean (it was Xmas day). I then asked for a change of room. The person attending the reception got very upset and antagonistic and asked us to leave immediatly. We packed up and got ready to leave. She then refused to give us our money back (I had paid cash) saying there was no proof I had paid (another person had checked us in). It devolved into a horrible scene. Finally, the person who had checked us in showed up and gave us our money back. I will never set foot in a Motel 6 again. That place was filthy. That particular person at the desk was violent, prejudiced and abusive.

Let me start by saying, I called to make sure my reservation was in fact put in because I booked through a third party site at the beginning of the week where the woman on the other end was great. When I called today to ask about early check in, I was told that this location does not offer that and I would have to wait - okay no problem. I was originally told on the first phone call that check in was at 3pm, when I arrived today at 3:30pm I was told that check in is at 4pm and that the manager does not allow any one to be checked in before 4pm. Online ALSO states check in is at 3pm... so now I was upset. I finally get to check in, girl upfront barely made eye contact and barely told me what she was doing when checking me in. There was a couple that came up behind me who I assume just checked in, stopped what she was doing to help me and talk over me to them. Now I'm annoyed. There is no elevator so if you are handicapped and they give you a second floor room, you're SOL. I FINALLY got to my room and walked into a sauna. The heat was turned all the way up and it was completely disgusting. I then checked out the bathroom - there is hair and whatever else in the tub. The sink was completely gross with hair and flem. For $230 I am COMPLETELY disgusted.

An employee double booked my reservation so when I showed up they told me that someone else had our room and that they had no more available so they turned us away and we had to get a $700 room somewhere else last minute. And then they still charged me for the reservation!! Still trying to get a refund!

Very bad staff at the front desk, did not had rooms available, didn’t care, the kid at the front desk was outside smoking and just told us no rooms available, very rude and did not care about. Still did not get my money back, they charges us for 2 rooms knowing they did not had anything available.

For the money, this is a great place to stay in an otherwise grossly overpriced community. There is a WalMart next door, along with multiple other stores.

This is a utilitarian motel, reasonably priced for Newport. Close to downtown & other attractions. Not a place you’d want to spend a lot of time

It is super convenient to all shopping Newport and not far from pvd. It's a great blue for the money

The hotel is next to a Walmart, which was helpful. The room was clean and the price was great.

Not such a good hotel to stay at. Only good thing is its location near to the Newport downtown and the bridge. It was over priced and amenities are below par.

Cheapest option for Jazz Fest. Skeptical to stay but ended up being ok. Room was clean front desk staff were kind and friendly. Walked next door to a great Brewery and distillery. Bus stops out front to get downtown. Only concern was door to get outside in hall slams Everytime someone leaves loudly.

Over all it was good stay , Lot of shopping near by and restaurant in walkable distance. Room was clean and look newly renovated , but still missing shampoo ,Lotion coffee machine like basic amenities . Staff is excellent .

-Inside the room was clean. Bed was great. -Outside the room a bit dirty( hall rugs, air vents) -Faucet in bathroom sink sprayed water all over the sink area. -soap a little too small. -Coffee bar only had powdered milk, instead of small individual creamers.

It was great , Newly renovated hotel , Clean and modern room. Lots of shopping near by. price is very competitive. Staff is very friendly .They dont serve breakfast but lots of food place there .Walmart is right next door.

The room was clean and the staff were amazing!!! Coffee and breakfast snacks were available in the morning. The housekeeping staff were sweet, friendly, and very accommodating. The fridge, microwave, and ice machine all worked well. The location was excellent! The price was right, there was plenty of parking, and I felt safe with my children. Location is next door to Walmart and a grocery store with many surrounding fast food/restaurant locations. I will definitely use this property again.
