The Ash Grove Inn

Great view, comfortable beds, the rest not so good. We selected this hotel in part because it had an attached restaurant, which would have been convenient for breakfast and possibly supper. But when we arrived we were very annoyed to be told that the restaurant was closed the two days we were there. This despite no notice on Expedia, or on the hotel's web site, or even the' sign at the hotel which claimed the restaurant was 'open daily'. For the rest, the room had the smallest, most cramped bathroom I have ever seen. Operating the TV required a good knowledge of how to select the right HDMI channel and select the satellite feed. The instructions and channel guide supplied in the room were just wrong and totally useless. The hotel claimed a 25 Mbit internet feed, but speed was spotty and sometimes resembled dial-up speeds! Staff were scarce to non-existent. There was someone in the office when we came to check in, but at other times the office was locked up tight. There was no-one there when we went to check out at 8:20 am, so we left the key in the room. We will not be staying at this hotel again.

This is a hidden gem. Looks average from the outside, but the room (we chose the bigger one) was wonderful. Clean, spacious, comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Nice to have an on site dining option that was reasonable and the food was good. Best part was the motel dock just across the road. You could sit in the provided chairs and stare at that lake view for hours. Very peaceful and worth the price of admission

Rooms are ok. Staff not readily available. Asked for an extra blanket as there wasnt one for the pull out bed and we still didnt receive one. They just provided a thin sham/duvet cover as a blanket. Unfortunately restaurant was closed both days. The hotel is okay but not for the cost, its expensive for what is provided.

I liked tge view of the lake and my lunch and dinner were great on the patio. I was smdisappointed that they the restaurant was not opened for breakfast. I had assumed the woukd be.

Our room was spacious and well set up. We went for the suite on and very happy that we did. The only drawback was that we were looking forward to breakfast in the restaurant as we did the year before but they didn’t open until 11, I think it was staff shortage but disappointing

The rooms are older and dated, and not in the best condition. But it is rather large, I stayed in the rooms with queen bed and pullout couch, the pullout is not comfortable at all, the bed was nice. Everything was ok, not super clean but clean enough for most

We stayed in room 12. Stains on the bed sheet corners, fridge had a broken piece. Could not even brush our teeth as the water came out brown/orange from rust(?) in pipes. It is a “cute” visually room- however did not feel clean. Only stayed 1 night.

But couldn’t get tv to work and no instructions provided, fridge had no freezer for ice cubes or freezer packs but was itself so cold it froze our milk in lumps. And either their phone doesn’t work or they don’t answer it or emails, so how do you get in touch?

Property is very run down. Housekeeping staff hang around the parking lot and stare at you as you come and go throughout the day. Has deteriorated over the last few years.

It is a standard "motel" with small rooms that are a bit tired. For what you get it is very overpriced.

Tv remotes are confusing and with inaccurate instructions. Had to call the front desk to watch tv. Btw, we were a year ago and the same issues with the tv and sat box.

Close to town. Spent the day boating. Great food and close to launch.

It's a motel across the road from the lake outside Barry's Bay Ontario. Nothing more. Nothing less. Quiet room was good. Everything else quite average.

Would be ideal I’d breakfast was served daily as opposed to just Fri,Sat sand Sunday. Would also like firmer pillows but that just me being picky😉
