Kora Beach Resort Phuket

On last Feb 28 our ticket to Phuket was cancelled by Qatar Airways as a result of the conflict in Iran. I had two hotel bookings in Phuket as I had planned to see two sides of the island: the Burasari south and Kora further up, through Expedia. The Burasari entirely reimbursed my "de facto" no show and the customer experience with them convinced me that when I can go back to Phuket, I will choose their establishment. Kora Beach resort however offered to reschedule my stay but I had to give right away new dates, as if there is anyone right now who knows when the middle east situation is going to come down. Because I was not able to give new dates, Kora Beach kept all my 600 euros which is money I saved for years and for them, pure profit, zero cost. Of course I could prove my ticket was cancelled and the travel insurance denied the claim because of act of war and I am stunned to see how easy such hotel can run away with your savings. We are feeling helpless and horribly disappointed. Very traumatic experience.

The hotel is ok. It’s clean, the breakfast was good and nothing went wrong. Definitely did not meet my expectations tho. Not what you’d expect from a 5 star. Our room was very small and poorly designed. It’s like a Mexico resort. A little tacky and fine but nothing memorableS

The rooms are surprisingly small by Thai standards as they try to cram in as many rooms as possible with paper thin walls. The breakfast is expensive for what you get. The service is probably the main reason I gave this rating. The check in took more than 20 minutes, the staff did not offer to help with bags. What was the icing on the cake was the check out which consisted of being pressured to vacate the room earlier than the actual. Heck out time so they have time to check the room. This led to me awkwardly sitting for 35 minutes waiting for them.
