The hotel was very convenient for the train station - they held our luggage at check-in, and lockers to use for check out. The hotel is in a dodgy area and the walkway into the hotel stinks of urine where the homeless urinate outside! We ate in the restaurant and watched several rats outside in the outside courtyard area.Inside the hotel is clean and tidy and what you would expect of a budget hotel.

The location was excellent for the train station, just across the parking lot. The room was just ok, no outlets by the bed, paid extra for a twin bed which was just an uncomfortable fold out cot. The bathroom was outdated and the shower floor had stains, bath towels were provided but no hand towels.

The hotel is in a great location for the main train station Marseille St Charles, being located directly alongside. The staff in the hotel were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean. The hotel is tired and in need of upgrading. Walls are needing painted and the bathrooms need updated. Unlike every other hotel I have stayed in (many!) they charge you €12 to leave your baggage after you have checked out. Portable lockers are used, as opposed to the usual baggage room and they are confusing to operate. Charging guests who have already paid for a few nights stay in the hotel, a further 12 euros to store baggage for an hour or so is a poor reflection on the company. “Grabbing every last euro” comes to mind, rather than providing a service for luggage holding which, like every other good hotel, is including free of charge. You also cannot easily access the toilets in the hotel lobby after you have checked out and handed back your keycard, because the toilets require card access. You have to therefore ask the staff for another keycard to use the toilets. Staff were nice and helpful, clearly these decisions are not made by them, however the whole thing makes for a poor experience upon leaving. Perhaps with all of the €12 being collected from weary paying customers, the management of the hotel could upgrade it to an acceptable standard.
