Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Tappahannock by IHG

We had the best time at this hotel. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Things were clean and well taken care of. I enjoyed the pool and the peace and quiet. The breakfast has a good variety of items and a lovely seating area. We left feeling refreshed for the new year ahead!

My stay was a mini vacation for 3 of my granddaughter's and myself, so one of my main reasons for booking was they had a pool. Unfortunately, after they ran my card, I was then informed the pool was out of service. (I had called to verify that they had a pool and wasn't told anything about it being closed). The mattresses are way to soft, for any type of back or spinal illness. And unless you're 4' or under, the toilet is like sitting on the ground and you feel you need an overhead rail to stand up (having spinal diease). I actually discussed this with some of the staff upon checking out and we were laughing and joking about the toilets being so low. The hotel was very clean, the staff I encountered were very friendly (with the exception of the white lady, with glasses at checkin. She seems uptight and definitely not friendly like the rest of the staff I encountered). My granddaughter's enjoyed the breakfast (except turkey sausage being the only sausage offered), there were several choices of items to choose from and it was keep well stocked. I will also add that the 25.00 damage fee they take from your card at checkin (mandatory) has not been returned to my card. I was told 5-7 days. The location of the hotel was nice, considering many options for stores, food and gas. Water pressure was ok, temperature was good. Air conditioning in the hallways has apparently been down for some time, according to housekeeping staff. It was very warm in the halls. I wouldn't stay here agai

Nice hotel. Breakfast was nice. Only issue we had, we only had 2 towels for the 3 of us. I called to ask and they said they’d send someone up. We needed to checkout so after 15 minutes of waiting I asked the housekeeper in the hall and she didn’t have any either and said it would be 30 minutes. She did end up going downstairs and came back with one. Just a thought, we said there would be 3 of us, it would be nice if there were enough towels for each guest. Also, the gym had no AC so it was a bit stuffy.

Great stay except for HUGE holes in the entrance road to the hotel.

I really enjoyed and appeeciated the hospitality of the staff. The room was great and just what i wanted. The pool was good and not many people in it, but I would have liked it to be heated like it stated that it was on the board in the pool area.

Everything was perfect!! The staff , the room, the facility, pool . Everything was perfect. I will be staying here again. I travel to this area often and will be staying here every time.

On the road leading to the entrance there are massive potholes that I could not drive through. I had to reverse and go into the Walmart parking lot to find another path into the hotel. Otherwise everything else was nice.

we have stayed here more than once but this time we were not happy the pool wasn't open, they said it was under repairs, this should have been told to me when I called and I asked about the pool and they said yes, we have a pool, they should have said yes, we have a pool but its not open, not right, we will probably not stay there next year on our way to va beach, sad to say

Property was fine. Planned a weekend 1-13-23 with granddaughters for their birthdays using pool and seeing sights around town. No one told us pool and laundry were closed upon arrival. we found after checking in and leaving for dinner with sign on pool. Closed as was laundry. When asked at desk clerk could have cared less. Not her problem. I contacted corporate who were very cooperative and got me in contact with the manager who was very nice and apologized offered two nights worth of points. Unfortunately this is the 2nd time we have had reservations at HIE and upon arrival no pool for kids to swim. Very disappointing. When planning weekend get a way with grandchildren.

We stayed 2 nights while attending a festival. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. The bathroom sink was dirty and there was stuff under the bed. I had to unplug the clock for my cpap machine and it was very dusty. Saturday's breakfast wasn't very good. They were out of some food at 8am. The sausage gravy was dried up. Sunday's breakfast was great.The staff were all friendly and nice to us.

Nice and clean

Checked in around 3:39, stayed in room, lift the blanket, bedsheet had blood stains like periods, left immediately that evening, 😡

This hotel is our go to in tappahanock, we are here at least once a year, clean, and great staff. Very comfortable beds

Overall I would rate this hotel okay. Rooms and bathrooms definitely could use some improvement and deep cleaning. Room view was of some air conditioners so nothing exciting there. Breakfast was okay as well.

Awesome service and room well kept

Room 201 had what appeared to be blood stains on the mattress and sheet. I was disappointed because this was the first time I have experienced this at a holiday inn express and I have stays at many of them over the years. The staff at the front desk Monalisa was extremely nice and very apologetic..

Glenn was professional, attentive and helpful. The room is spotless and the hotel is quiet. We are so glad we found this location as it’s convenient to local stores.

Room never cleaned

Quiet. Comfortable bed and sofa. Overall very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Clean safe area to walk our dog. Close to fast food restaurants

Breakfast was not that good. Empty trays. Staff didn't tell about restaurant right behind them when we ask for places to eat. Could have been cleaner in the room and noisy by the ice machine.

A little dated, but well kept. Breakfast was great.

Bath tub is unsafe…bottom is very slippery…only one handhold at opposite end of tub from secured soap/shampoo dispensers…

King bed was comfortable but quite high. Difficult for someone under 5 feet tall to get in and out of. Breakfast was typical for a hotel, better selection than many places we have stayed. Eggs were looking pretty bad when we were there around 9:00. Maybe because breakfast was ending at 9:30. Would stay here again if in the area.

Property was very clean and the staff were excellent. Could definitely use some sound proofing but overall definitely would recommend this hotel over others in the area!

The bed was extremely comfortable and the jetted tub was amazing.

The hotel is nice, however the toilets need an upgrade they are entirely too low.

Our stay was pretty nice. The hotel itself was very clean and smelled great. Staff was super nice; Keona the front desk agent was lovely. Our bed was super comfortable and the room had generous space. The only thing I was not pleased with was the noise my family and I had to endure from neighboring room. The noise sounds like an absolute circus from 11:00 pm until 2 am. I did call the the front with no avail. I feel that there should be a noise agreement put forth in place so that those who stay may enjoy your lovely property to the fullest. The pool hours were perfect for my family. Breakfast was nice and so were the attendants. I will definitely stay again but on the 3rd floor.

The night front desk person was excellent. I arrived on 6/20/2025.

They cancelled my reservation without any notification and had me find another hotel at the last minute as they didn’t have any rooms left. Avoid this hotel.

Had a confirmed reservation and the property was overbooked. I was turned away from the hotel with a confirmed expedia reservation.

Hotel staff was very nice . We needed to add an extra day to reaervation, and there was a mess-up in charges. The front desk & managememt were quick to fix it. Room itself was very nice & met our needs, and breakfast was great. The hotel is located right next to Applebees & Walmart and in close proximity to other food & gas locations. The only thing that could have been better to give our stay a perfect rating was near the 3rd floor elevator. Someone either spilled something or got sick, and there was an odor from it. Otherwise great stay & woupd recommend this hotel.

The staff was extremely helpful & kind. Though not part of the hotels property, the street leading up to the entrance had very large, deep pot holes that will cause automotive damage.

The property was clean, check-in/out staff was helpful and professional. Every staff member was excellent and informative when help was needed.

Nice needed little vacation, the hotel is close to a lot of stores and restaurants. We were at Belle isle for the day and came to the hotel to spend the night.

The staff was professional and friendly. Access road to the hotel from the main road was full of large pot holes. It was not a clear path from the main road to the hotel parking lot (lots of turns, limited visibility, through a Walmart parking lot). Location was convenient to stores, restaurants, the river.

Very clean room, hallways and common areas. Bed was extremely comfortable. Customer service was tremendous from front desk staff and breakfast servers. Hot breakfast was very good and offered multiple choices. Best breakfast we’ve had at a hotel that was included with stay.

We enjoyed our stay. Our son has moved to the area and we will return. We will stay here again. The bed is comfortable. The breakfast is a hot meal that is actually very good with lots of choices the only bad thing is it stops at 9:30.
