Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Dothan North by IHG

Staff was friendly and willing to give information upon request. Bed was comfortable. But, there was mold in the bathroom door and walls, sink was clogged, to have breakfast you must go very early...at 8:30 am there was no coffee and some things were no longer available. The most important thing...there is NO water to drink! The small lobby store had NO water to sell and there were no vending machines in the property. We had to go to a Walmart to buy some water to prevent dehydration!!!

Carpet to hallway was being replaced and glue and mess was where you had to walk thru to get to room. The front desk person was very rude on more than one occasion and acted mad that she was being bothered and her attitude was less than friendly. Even while checking in she had a very bad attitude.

The pool was not available/working which is one of the reasons we had chosen it for our trip. We had several soccer families staying together and the kids were all very disappointed that they could not swim. We stayed here once before and it was much better, but this time was a miss. We’ll stay somewhere else for our next tournament.

Everything is great except for the pool. It has a green discoloration to it & a lot of trash in it. Otherwise, staff, location, & room are good.

Trashcans were overflowing in hallways. Dirt and grim in all corners of the bathroom.

We got there and check in was good. It all changed after that. The room smelled, the window was covered in mold and mildew, the blind was all tattered, the bathroom floor was dirty, the shower curtain was so short it almost didn’t even touch the top of the tub and the sink had a hard time emptying. I pointed out all the issues to the front desk and had to run out to a military commissioning for my son. I asked them not to go up to the room without contacting my significant other by phone before going to the room. Before I could even call her, they were already up to the room and took a lot of time moving the shower curtain rod to accommodate the short curtain. After all of that with three guys in the room with her, they put on a longer shower curtain anyhow. and just to top it off the pool was completely green. One of the worst hotel stays. And it was a terrible area around the hotel. It was an industrial area.

It sucked the pool was closed and there was no breakfast. Told manager on duty they did not care.

room had smokers in it previously. handicap bench in shower had pulled from the wall. Had to wait for the elevator to be fixed.

I didn’t like that there was large noticeable mold in room. Wet spots and water damage in bathroom. Bathroom was not properly clean and sanitized.

Bathroom shower was disgusting, there was mold and it was dirty. Toilet seat was broken and entry floor to the room was sticky.

Front desk staff was super friendly. Hotel overall was decent but room was dirty. Hairs all over the bathroom. One of the beds had definitely been used as the pillow was smashed into the headboard and and the other one had an imprint from a body. There was stains of some sort right on the edge of the sheets. It served its purpose as we got a little sleep on our long road trip but could definitely use some help in the housekeeping standards.

The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. The staff was accommodating, friendly.

Clean room, breakfast buffet excellent!

The room itself was fine. The bathroom was not borderline nasty: hair in and on the tub, horrible odor from the shower curtain... no thanks.

asked for a room not located by the elevator and I was put in a room by the highway....road noise kept me awake most of the night. I have tried to add a pic and I get an error message indicating the "Photo invalid or exceeds size limit". Mold in bathroom around the bath fixtures really need attention.

The hotel is near a main highway. You need to drive to get to everything, there is nothing in walking distance. The majority of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is outdated.

Room was nice for family of 5. One of the bed had a big stain on it, which was the only negative.

The AC/Heat worked great. The room was very clean and the bed soft and comfortable.

The shower did not work properly. All it had was a handheld shower which is fine except the hand held part would not stay in place- kept falling. You could not really a true shower. Bath sink kept stopping up- very slow to drain. Other than the bathroom issue, it was fine.

The property was well kept. The water pressure in the shower was not the best but the room was good otherwise. The Breakfast on the second day was disappointing. The eggs were overcooked and the sausage links and patties were hard and almost appeared to be possibly day old.

Room was comfortable and clean. After first night stay, lock on the door messed up. Was given another room very quickly. All was well. Breakfast was great. Will book again.

Beds were super comfy!

VERY disappointing for $150/night. Nasty spots on the room floor right out in the middle of the carpet. Toilet seat broken. Shower doors extremely hard to slide open (no handles either). Water pressure PITIFUL. Privacy door latch was missing. In room A/C erratic. PITIFUL !!!!

Nice stay overall. The room was comfortable and the staff were very accommodating. I was able to get a very good nights rest. Would stay again in my next trip through the city.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Very nice manager. They were swamped but she was still polite and helpful. They had a band and 5-6 soccer teams staying so it was a rowdy crew but they were still courteous and respectful.

Fast and friendly check in while giving great dinner ideas in the area.

Arrived at 3:50, rooms not ready, waited until 4:30 still not ready. 10 other parties waiting. I had to go to an event and was told my room would be here when I got back. When I returned still no room and no solution. With 6 other parties also not having room. I asked if they were going to put us up in another hotel and no response. Finally cancelled and got a room myself. I still am being charged and will have to contest the charge.

Jessica, at the front desk, allowed me to check in early. I have mobility issues, so I was in room 339 very quiet and very clean.

On arrival, I looked for a luggage cart. Staff said they didn’t know where they were and told me to wait. After 20 minutes, I went looking floor by floor for a cart. Finally found one. No help from staff. Entered room, the temperature was set at 60 degrees. Freezing in the room. Next morning I went to shower. Only had Luke warm water and the faucet leaked. Went down for breakfast at 0745 and found most of the food was gone. Apparently a large group of workers pretty much cleaned everything out. No eggs, no cinnamon rolls, no yogurt, no muffins, and a bunch of rotten bananas. There were a good number of guests who came down for breakfast and encountered the same thing. Most people were pretty angry. Spoke with both staff and manager regarding this and they said they had no control over how much food each guest takes. I’ve seen people in the past walk out with a half dozen muffins and more. I mentioned perhaps limiting portions so that all could eat and was told that they couldn’t do that to their customers. I did remind them that I also was a customer and that I expect the same accommodations. I have stayed at HI Express for years and have never encountered such poor service. I don’t know if I will ever stay at HI Express again. No apologies, no empathy, nothing but BS from the staff!

This was one of the worst experiences we've ever had at a Holiday Inn... we get there at 8:30 pm (Check in is at 4) - they have no rooms ready. Blame it on the computer systems and then say they over booked. We along with countless other families were turned away at 9:30 pm with no where to go - With children might I add. My mother had checked in and let us stay in their room so they drove the 2 hours back home. When we woke up there was hardly no breakfast (pancake maker was messed up, bacon was undercooked, no eggs, and bagels were hard). I hate that we ended up having to pay $185 to stay here and my poor parents had to drive home and back the next morning. Plus, to make it worse the person dealing with the ordeal was rude and disrespectful to several of the guest. Will never stay here again!

The Holiday Inn Express was clean and in very good condition. The front desk stafff was extremely helpful when we experienced a problem with our room door lock. They took immediate action and made sure everything was working properly. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely keep this one in mind when we travel that way again.

We arrived shortly after 3p to find that our rooms (2) were not ready. The hotel had full occupancy the night before so I understand the delay. We had to wait about an hour before we could check in. We found our rooms to be clean. The lock on one of the doors did not work so we had to move rooms. The manager on duty was very accommodating. Our room had some minor issues like the wallpaper raising up under the bathroom and the shower curtain wasn’t long enough to reach the bathtub so water sprayed all over the floor while taking a shower. Minor issues. Overall, the hotel met our needs for one night.

No restaurants are nearby! The staff was excellent!

Liked location, staff very friendly and helpful, especially Toya. Did not like the pillow with blood stain and no pillow case over it. Should not be used unless clean. Beds were very soft and comfortable. Shower floor was a little slippery.

Safe and quiet

Was easy to find,room was clean and when our TV didn't work properly they upgraded our room to suite. Staff nice and very attentive to our request for working TV

The property was kept nice and it was quiet.

Very nice and efficient receptionist! Hotel very clean and attractive, and great location close to shopping and restaurants ! - And the first place we ever saw palm trees surrounded by snow - wow! The very nice receptionist told us they got 8" of snow two days earlier- first time ever!

There was a lot of road work going on making it harder to get around.

Check in was a little hetic, around 4 O'clock and rooms were still being clean. Breakfast was .. well bad. I went 1 hour before closing , they were out of everything but bacon and sausage. Dirty area and not kept. Made me not want to eat anyhing at all. My room was clean when i got in there, but no trash can in the bathroom? If i come back to the area, i may look into staying else where

The room was great, very standard. Very clean. Breakfast left a lot of room for improvement. One of the reasons we stay at these hotels is for the nice breakfast. But someone really needed to go shopping! They were out of eggs, yogurt, and pancake batter, among other things. Biscuits were overdone and hard. It seemed like it was a sub doing breakfast, so I get it...but it wasn't as great as it usually is.

He got left holding the bag and facing the public. The answer we received was that the delivery truck had not come yet, so they were out of food, except bacon. Food was the reason for the poor rating. We were the first people to arrive for breakfast. There were hardly any eggs, they appeared to have been cooked previously and scraped from the pan with some eggs with brown on them. Sausage also appeared to have been recooked. The cooler didn’t have any yogurt or hard boiled eggs. No peanut butter or jam. The bananas were totally black and should have been in the garbage days prior. I did have a conversation with the front desk. She acknowledged she was aware of the problem. We are frequent travelers and Holiday Inn Express is our go to. This will not be one of them.

The room was ok. what was very disappointing is the fact that there was not breakfast. The price includes breakfast and that is hy I chose to stay there. The only thing available was bacon and cinnamon rolls. The other hot food was not available. The front desk said that the cook did not make enough. It was 8am on a Thursday. I requested a call from Management and have not recieved one. It is now 6 days later. I am a member of this hotel chain. I will not stay at this location again. I had to go to a drivethrough to pay for breakfast .

The breakfast was sub par and not well managed...ran out of coffee, gravy, etc. The staff overseer was slow and not very responsive and hard to find. Otherwise it's good spot but a bit pricey now to include a satisfying breakfast.

Had man come into our rm by mistake! B’fast had no milk, knives, or spoons until nice guy at front desk founds spoons for us. Ran out of several b’fast items. When we checked into our room, there were dirty towels outside door next to our rm & they were still there when we checked out. Also eating area floor seemed to be sticky & dirty.
