Sleep Inn Champaign North - Urbana

I chose the property for the breakfast option in the morning. No where in the booking process was I notified or informed the property was under renovation and no breakfast would be available. Due to the construction, there was too much dust in the lobby area. Not good for sinuses. Room refrigerator door was open, so it was not cold on checkin.

Currently under construction. My safety door lock waa broken. No ice machine. No one at desk upon departure.

When its finished probably will be nice

The hotel was under construction when I arrived. I was unable to access the front entrance as it was entirely blocked off. I was not made aware of this. My Uber driver drove us around back where the parking lot was also filled with equipment, dumpsters, toilets, and more. There was a single door open to the public there. I understand not telling a potential guest that the hotel will be under construction so as not to lose that reservation, but I found this to be really sketchy. My first day there was a lot of noise from the construction. My room was on the first floor, and as a solo traveling woman, did not want to open the curtains as it opened right out to where the workers were located. The room was humid and felt wet. And while the construction was happening to upgrade the front entrance, the hotel rooms themselves are definitely in need of upgrading. While it says breakfast is provided - do yourself a favor, and plan on breakfast elsewhere. There were a few pieces of bread and a couple packets of instant oatmeal. You were lucky if there was any coffee. I'm not sure if they were feeding the construction crew at 6am, but there was nothing left at 8am and by the 3rd day I was there, all that was left were a couple of creamer packets, as it was never restocked at all. My advice - spend an extra $30 and stay somewhere else.

Under renovation, filthy . Room floor was full of dust , my feet were white from dust. Room bolt lock did not work because door was not lined up properly, washroom room was not lined up, made LOUD noise when opening or closing . No tray in shower so soap and shampoo had to go on the floor. I will never go there again , very poor quality

Try to find another hotel if you can. The backdoor lock did not work and anyone could have entered from that side. We felt unsafe all night. TV reception was terrible as well.

Fairly quick and easy check in & out. Hotel is being renovated at time. Room could have been cleaned better. Air conditioner was pretty old and loud. Squiggly lines on TV. Updates needed for sure so hopefully new ownership will address these concerns. Not terrible for one night given circumstances.

Doors did not close well for bathroom or room. Had to slam room door to close properly. Could not close bathroom door completely. Exterior doors to the building did not require room key to access

There was hair in the bathroom and on the sheets. It was filthy. The bed felt like it had a drum underneath it. Every time I moved, I heard a noise. The worst part was that when the tornado alarm went off, there was no one in the lobby. The phone in the room didn't work. It was pretty unsafe. There was no emergency signal. I wouldn't stay there again.

First room assigned to us had dirty towels on the floor upon entering and a pair of wire cutters on the bathroom floor next to toilet. Tile floor looked u swept and the sink counter was dirty. In the second room they assigned to us. Tile floor looked unswept, sink counter was not wiped and there was a HUGE dead BED BUG on the tv stand. No thank you.

As a parent of a freshman at U of IL - I will never stay here again! YUCK! Our room was filthy. You could see dust and debris on all surfaces in the room. Hair in the tub, etc etc etc. I had to clean the surfaces of every desk, night stand, vanity etc. Dirty carpet. Broken TV. The list goes on and on. The only way I could get thru the night was to pretend I was camping and wear shoes in the room and shower! YUCK!!!!!!!!! We asked for a new room and were told there weren’t any available. No compensation for the broken TV or disgusting room. Never again!

Very disappointing. The room smelled like mold and was musty and "wet" feeling. I let the air run, hoping that would help, but made it worse. All of my clothes,.as well as the carpet, were damp with the moisture of the air. I was scheduled for several days and checked out after 12 hours. It was run down and dirty.

Clean room and lobby!

The room was visibly dirty on the surfaces especially the floor in the shower the room also smelled very very bad like there was a problem with the air conditioning system

The room was very clean. It was well stocked. The coffee pot worked. The staff was very helpful.

my room had black mold all over bathroom. Back door was used by everyone which was broke and slammed shut every time and was never lock. my room was next to it. when I complained only got a "i'm Sorry". Didn't sleep ,

The room was clean, linens white and clean. I dropped something and it rolled under an area that could have been neglected, but it was clean! The ONLY thing that bothered us was that there was a WEIRD smell inside the room when we opened the door. It was also present in the other room next door, where our friends stayed. I used some body spray to mask it, and eventually I got used to it.

We had 3 rooms and 2/3 had issues. It was clean so that was nice but 1 room had 2-3 inches of water when you were showering (covering your feet).. and the second room that had an issue was with the air. It was broken, so no a/c but also couldn’t even just use fan mode for air circulation so that was a little stuffy and hot overnight

Property is right off the highway so there is noise all night long. The doors do not have a soft close so slamming doors woke me up several times. There is also a lack of cleanliness. I found foot peelings on both sides of the bed and questionable stains on pillows. I've stayed at a Baymont Inn before and expected way more. The elevator also sounds like it's on its last leg. Won't be coming back.

Bathroom door wouldn’t latch. The flooring appeared new and the walls freshly painted. Clearly they were making upgrades. The room was just very small and the beds were tight for two people. When the room says it sleeps 4 that wasn’t quite accurate.

Lipstick on a pig -- bed was comfortable and carpet is new. Everythign else is an OLD HOTEL that has KIND OF been redone. If you open your eyes, you're gonna find lots of small issues. If you need an ok place to sleep the night at a lower price, then this is fine. Room doors are old and allow a lot of hallway light into the room.

We are heading across country and needed a room for the night. This was a clean, safe hotel with comfortable accommodations. The bathroom is TINY and there were only three pillows and two bath towels, but the price I can certainly go to the desk to get more. It was the lowest price mid- quality for miles.

Check-in was friendly. Rooms have been updated. Clean and comfortable.

The property is nothing special but it wasnt bad. the rooms were clean which was the most important thing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the TV in the room got terrible reception and every channel was blurry. It looked like it was hooked up to an old antenna on the roof. I would still recommend though.

Bright clean room. Lots of lights. Lots of outlets. Lots of charging connections. Comfortable bed. Good roomy fridge with adjustable shelves. Constant fan option on AC unit. Good water pressure in shower. Nice luggage carts. Will consider a Sleep Inn again!

I enjoyed my stay at the Sleepless Hotel. Great new secret for me. Next visit in Champaign I will be staying there. Day staff is top notch!!! Great professionalism. Can't say enough about this young man. Kudo to him. Ask a question and received direct kind responses. Keep up the AWESOME service. Would like for management to reach out to share some constructive criticism.

I just hate the customer service there I hate the people there they're rude they borrowed me for no reason they didn't even tell me why I was on the do not rent to this they never even informed me of what the situation went was and when was the situation they just tell me I couldn't stay there and kicked me out and then I couldn't even get another room so I had to sleep outside because I have to wait days before I can even get my money back on my card it just was a horrible experience

Checking in went fine and was a pleasant experience. What terrified me was that a man tried coming into my room; thankfully he couldn’t because the latch was on, but it made me extremely uncomfortable. The hotel key unlocks the deadbolt, so the only thing that stopped the door from fully opening was the latch. He didn’t say a word and left. I called the front desk and was brushed off, told: “we’ll have someone look into it”. Mistakes and accidents of course happen, but there should be some accountability and at the very least, safety should be taken more seriously.

For the price this was a very nice stay. Stopped here on the way to our destination. The front desk staff was very nice. Quite clean hotel with a good value.

Check-in took longer than I am used to. Breakfast was poor in many respects. Biscuits were not edible, like bricks, could not cut with knife. Sausage was not good flavor. Coffee was not hot.

Weird area

Great basic hotel for mom’s weekend. Staff friendly, clean rooms, basic breakfast which I didn’t eat because I had other plans. Coffee was fine. Only complaint was the highway noise but nothing can be done about that.

I liked that it was 10 minutes from Urbana and 5 from Champaign! It really made travel easy! It was also very clean and the staff were friendly.

Not bad but if road noise keeps you up at night, my room you could hear every vehicle or truck who went by in the night. Otherwise it is a hotel and my room was comfortable.

A perfect hotel for a visit to see my son and explore the area. It is clean with quick access to the university and the highway. The staff were friendly and the included breakfast buffet was typical.

Staff was nice. They are doing some renovations at the property. It is 5 minutes from the mall & other major shopping areas.

Close to Interstate

Staff and facilities were both nice! Great location if traveling, can’t say anything about the local tourism as we were passing through. Perfect for this kind of stay!

Hotel was located right off interstate. The parking lot was well lit. The rooms were clean amd comfortable. The continental breakfast wasn't bad. First time ever staying at a Sleep Inn, would stay again.

We were told to wait for the shift change upon arrival rather than getting checked in right away, after about 5-10 minutes, we were checked in. Tv barely worked, bed felt like it had bed bugs, room smelled like smoke despite the smoke free property, and when we tried to have breakfast it was all gone at 9am still open but food all gone. I guess you get what you pay for, it was a place to sleep and that’s what we needed.

Though the hotel is close to the highway, it was quite. The room is spacious. Liked the king bed, the room darkening curtain, and the window. Not impressed w/ the breakfast though. It said "full hot breakfast" but only thing that was hot was the waffle. Only healthy choices included in the breakfast was the apple.

Breakfast area not always kept always well supplied. We often had to request coffee pit be filled and food trays were running low.

Good budget priced hotel. Property is clean. Breakfast is included but don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed. Waffle maker did not have any batter, maybe they only use it on weekends. Same for other hot food that had signs but no hot food existed. They did have your other basic cold and heat your own breakfast items. Might just be limited on weekdays, not sure because we didn’t ask. They had yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal packets, bagels, toast, cinnamon rolls, and oranges.

I did not have high hopes because it was so inexpensive, but it was really a decent hotel. The beds were comfy, the sheets felt nice, it was quiet, and there was a good variety of food at breakfast. This is a real gem and I'm glad we found it.

Loved the shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower. Nice touch to have paper plates and bowls in the breakfast area. The hot breakfast was fantastic! We appreciated having a cart to bring our luggage up to our room.
