Hilton Vacation Club Ka'anapali Beach Maui is a nice resort located a couple miles north of the heart of Ka'anapali. It's located on a small yellow-sand beach that is about a quarter mile long. The facilities are very nice, the suites are spacious, and the staff is helpful. I only give it three stars for a few reasons: 1) the springs in our bed were totally shot; the mattress was years overdue for replacement. 2) this is the only resort on the beach that doesn't have direct beach access; instead, you have to walk about 100 yards down the beach to a public beach access point. 3) they have inexplicably planted a hedge along the beachfront which completely blocks the beach/ocean view for anyone sitting on resort property; this is not a requirement of the beach as no other resort on the beach has a similar obstruction 4) our room rate included breakfast, but the selection was very disappointing; on Mon - Fri, we had a choice of four equally-unhealthy entrees from the hotel's small grill restaurant; weirdly, they were the four most expensive menu items, and they would not allow substitution of less expensive options like bacon and eggs; on Sat & Sun, they offer a breakfast buffet that is better than the weekday options, but with only slightly broader selection than the free buffet at a Hampton Inn. Despite these short comings, I would consider staying here again if I return to Maui because it was much less expensive than other beach front resorts.
