The Crockett Hotel

The hotel had mandatory valet that is $50 a night that they do not tell you about until you are here. No breakfast onsite but close enough to walk and get breakfast

This hotel began operation in 1909 across the street from the Alamo so it exudes history. That is why we chose it. Staff were welcoming and even though valet parking can be pricey, the reality is, parking anywhere downtown is going to be a headache, so at least you didn’t have to drive around looking for a place and you know your car is safe and handled appropriately by their valets. We scored a corner room that looked out on the nearby Alamo, with plantation shutters, upscale linens, and all amenities. As a historic hotel it shows its age, yet the rooms are nicely done. It was quiet and convenient to the Riverwalk. Would definitely stay here again.

It was great, overall. I was disappointed in the pool being closed. We were told we could go to the Menger pool, but who wants to walk across a busy street in a bathing suit and come back, dripping wet? The price for parking (per night - valet) was ridiculous @ $48.71, plus a tip for each day (rip-off!) The hotel and rooms were great and comfortable, and the food in the restaurant was great. Perfect location. Can't wait for the Alamo construction to be completed so we can bring our granddaughters (hopefully end of this year). We will probably stay at the Crockett again. It was a great 32nd wedding anniversary getaway for my husband & me.

The Crockett Hotel has a lot of charm as a historic building with artwork and architecture to match. It's proximity to the Alamo, Riverwalk, and dining allow for leaving your vehicle at the hotel and walking to these places. The room was fine, fairly average for a decent, clean hotel room. Our room was small, but sufficient for us (it was also advertised as a smaller room). My only complaint was that the water pressure in the shower was incredibly weak. All in all, it was a nice stay. Friendly customer service by the valets and front desk at a great location with an affordable price (via Hotels.com). Also, spring for the parking add on from Hotels.com. It saves you around $20+. The only parking is valet and it's $45 at the hotel.

This historic hotel has some beautiful architecture. The AC was not working properly in our room, but maintenence came quickly when we called to ask about it. The only available lot for parking is extremely expensive, so valet is the only real option, but it's $50 per night with tax. So make sure to include that when comparing room prices.

There is no on-site self-parking. Valet only at a rate of $45 per day! The nearest parking garage also charges $25 per day. You need to make sure you include this cost when comparing hotels!

Great location & facilities. The front desk staff was very accommodating with our early check-in and helping with our luggage storage. I feel $45 is a bit steep for valet parking.

I enjoyed my stay overall. The Crockett was just about what I expected. My room was cozier than I anticipated—perhaps a little too dim for my taste—but it was still comfortable and relatively quiet, which I appreciated. The only issue was that the room doors didn’t close quietly. Whenever a new guest arrived, their door would slam shut, which was a bit jarring. One aspect I wasn’t expecting was the parking situation. The Crockett doesn’t have its own parking, so guests are directed to use valet service at a rate of $45 per day. On top of that, tipping is expected each time the car is parked or retrieved, which adds up quickly. I would have appreciated more transparency about this in advance. Despite these minor setbacks, my stay was pleasant, and I would consider returning. At the same time I would also look at other accommodations closer to the river walk because of the parking situation.

Great stay and great location right next to the Alamo. Everything was very clean and well kept. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Easy to walk to the river walk, stores and restaurants. Pool was nice and refreshing. Valet parking was worth it for us so you don’t have to worry about navigating parking downtown. I would definitely stay again

Comfortable stay as always, nice small pool across the street which is kind of tucked away in a grove of trees making it feel kind of oasis like. The Crockett Tavern next to the lobby is a nice bar with live music on some nights. We enjoyed listening to local Americana /Texas Music artist, Chad Boyd, on our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was spotless and it was in a great area. Would definitely stay again.

Room dirty on arrival and smelled very musty. Room changed, but noticed it was only sprayed with a strong scent and then occupied again right away without fixing the problem. Pool tiny; picture obviously angled to look better.

Booked this hotel due to location next to the Alamo and good reviews. The lobby of the hotel was nice. Once you got into the elevator it was another story and looked like a totally different hotel. I understand that this is a historical hotel but this is no excuse for stained filthy carpets, musty smell, dirty bathroom with severely chipped tub and broken artwork. I would not book this location again.

The bathroom was not clean. The carpets were not clean.

The room was clean upon arrival. After one night woke up to a large roach in the bathroom. The room was hot and took forever to cool off. Not sure if it was due to it being in 7th floor. The room wouldn’t cool off until about 2 am.

It was okay we had three roaches in our room. The water in the bathtub was hard to adjust to the right temperature to shower. Bathroom was too small for comfort.

It was nice, in terms of the service and the property, but my room was kinda dirty.

The room had a dirty feel to it. The Air Conditioner did not work the entire first day we were there. I called down to have it fixed they said they would let me know and never did. The bath tub and sink would not drain properly like it had a clog. We would not stay there again.

Lovely historic hotel. Located next door to the Alamo and close to the riverwalk. Nice little pool area. There is construction at the Alamo which starts at 6 am and all day/ night freeway noise. Don’t bother with valet parking as they just put your car in the public lot beside the hotel. Hotel bathroom is small and dated. The shelf above the sink is so low the tap is obstructed and water only comes out in no a trickle.

The hotel in general was nice. Our room could have been better. The tv wouldn’t turn on. Well, it wasn’t plugged in. Not that big of deal. The refrigerator didn’t work. The biggest thing I didn’t like was that they controlled the room air conditioner. Ours would not get below 71. I like a cool room when I sleep and it was warm in there. There’s plenty of other hotels in the area for cheaper price that will let you control your room temp.

The room was incredibly small! Check in was not good! The clerk almost ran me over with a luggage cart. Then as I stood at the desk he was chatting with a female at the tavern door for 10 mins or so. I finally walked over and said how do I check in? He said oh I didn’t see you but was looking right at me then I asked about breakfast and he said ai isn’t accurate…..was pretty snarky. I asked for coffee pods for day 2 and was told they were out. It just wasn’t very hospitality focused

Love that it is right next to the Alamo and entrance to the river walk. The shower head is fixed and inconvenient. We were on 2nd floor above the Tavern and it was noisy till midnight, soundproofing is not good.

The rooms we were put in were extremely hot. We had to be moved to the associated hotel across the way for the night. We returned to the Crockett for our second night and were placed in a better room however still had to use a fan.

Clean room and nice staff. But the room location (on the interior courtyard of the hotel) was extremely noisy early in the morning and in the evenings.

Hotel is generally nice. Everything seemed well cleaned, but maintainance/updates could be improved. The two elevators are quite small, but worked well. Valet parking is about the only option in the area and is $45/day. Room 411 in March 2025. Bathroom needs an overhaul, especially the shower. Water temperature was all over the place. Comfortable for a bit, then suddenly scorching hot, then comfortable, then cold, and so on. Shower also has incredibly sloppy caulking that just looks awful.clean enough, but it really looks poorly maintained. Closet doors don't stay put because the track is sloped so the doors slide to one side. Not a deal breaker, but an easily avoidable annoyance. Carpet had some tacky goo on it by the refrigerator. After stepping on it a couple times, we covered it with a towel to avoid stepping in it the next 3 days. The room layout isn't quite like the Standard Queen room pictures from booking. This room has noticably less space at the end of the bed, but maybe little more space on the sides. I kind of thought it might actually be their cheapest and smallest Cozy Queen room, which we intentionally upgraded from, but I can't be sure. It just doesn't look as spacious as the room style photos. I'd stay again, but would inspect the room more closely before settling in. Had we not already settled in, we would've requested to change rooms.

There was loud music playing most of the day until about 11pm, and there is construction at an adjacent site that starts pretty early in the day. Otherwise it was a fine stay.

Fun, historic hotel in the heart of SA. room was comfortable, We had a king suite with plenty of space. It was very clean, just dated decor which actually lends to the historic charm. Front desk staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Cafe food was quick and affordable for an easy breakfast.

Other than the snarky person on the grounds who pointed out my ESA- the staff (Mr.Larry)was welcoming . Mr.Eduardo at the front desk was gracious, genuine and accommodating. This makes every difference when choosing where to spend my $$. I will definitely rebook on my next visit.Thank you.

Well, as soon as I arrived, the concierge decided to charge me for valet. However, when I told them that valet was already included in my package, they insisted on keeping $300 on hold. So, I agreed for them to keep it on hold. Next, two days later, there were two more charges on my account $292 and $10. When I went downstairs to talk about the charge, they told me that it was a "hold," and I was wondering why I needed to pay for another hold when I tipped the valet and paid out of pocket for my food. He finally cancelled the charges. A few days after I left the hotel, there was another charge of $14.94 again for no reason. I hope they do not claim damages because I took pictures of the room before I left, and there was no damage. At this point, I am glad I checked my account every day, because I did not trust that they would reimburse me my money if I did not check. Was my stay pleasant? Yes, it was, but I wouldn't recommend it because I believe the hotel was irresponsible with my money.

Hotel itself was ok. Their valet that they make you do was not convenient. I waited 15 min at 5am to get my car. Turned out the employee was hanging out in an office. Don’t offer 24 hour valet if you’re not going to be available when a car is called through the text they provide you.

My husband and I stayed at Crockett Hotel for three days at the end of May 2025 and we picked the perfect place. Both the Alamo and the River Walk were within walking distance. Unfortunately, the Alamo was under construction and we were warned that there may be noise, but we were already awake by the time the workers started so it didn't bother us - it was just a bit of an eyesore. Our room was clean and had enough pillows, which is almost always an issue for us. We had a great view of the Alamo (had it not been under construction) from our window and the tavern and café were super-convenient for getting food before or after a busy day. As much as we loved our room, I think the highlight of our stay was the guy at the front desk. He remembered my name throughout our entire stay and was so patient when I had some serious confusion with the valet parking and the parking lot. Before booking I knew there was valet parking, but when I arrived and saw there was street parking available I thought we would avoid the valet parking expense and just street park. Apparently, you can get towed by street parking. After a third explanation, I finally understood the parking situation. I appreciate his patience and kindness. I feel terrible that I didn't get his name, but he has been there for like 30-years so if you stay here you will meet him. If we ever return to San Antonio we will stay here again. Hopefully, front desk guy will be happily retired--he deserves it.

Excellent location when visiting San Antonio and right next to the Alamo. The staff went far and beyond on accommodating me during my stay especially Eduardo at the front desk.

The hotel was a lot of fun! The hotel's history was fascinating. The staff was great, and the room was perfect, being just a stone's throw from the River Walk.

The hotel itself is very nice. The location was ideal for the Alamo and River Walk. Staff were not overally friendly. Were told since we were checking in and staying at the hotel we got "complimentary" valet parking. Did not bother to tell us it was $48 a night.

Beautifully adapted and restored historic hotel next door to the Alamo. Staff super friendly, room great (clean, comfy, nicely furnished) and the location is perfect. Directly across from the River Center and River Walk.

Perfectly located next to Alamo and Riverwalk, restaurants, mall, remodeled yet maintains its historical feel. Very comfortable and nice amenities.

Great San Antonio Hotel in perfect location to Riverwalk and Alamo Plaza. Great Bar/Restaurant and Coffee shop onsite. Alamo is less than 5 minute walk and Riverwalk less than 10 minutes walk away with plenty of food and shopping options. Will go there again.

Loved the hotel. Close to the Alamo and the river walk so we didn’t need a car.

Our stay at the Crockett Hotel was great! Love the tavern and coffee shop. The lobby was beautiful and exactly what was expected for a hotel this old. Love all the history. Will stay again!

Everything was great! Everyone was very nice and professional. The room was very clean and comfortable. The Tavern onsite was great! Food was awesome and my server was amazing! The valet parking was top notch! Highly recommend this hotel if you’re staying in downtown San Antonio.

The place smell soooooooo good! Their location is so convenient, i was able to walk to the mall , the riverwalk , the alamo anywhere! Perfect location! Their restaurant the “The Tavern “had the best chicken tenders and nopales!

Great historic hotel and pub in a fabulous location. Unfortunately I could not see outside from my room b/c windows are very dirty. There is NO Continental BREAKFAST. That was false advertising.

The location and history of the hotel are great. Due to construction around the Alamo, construction noise starts at 7:00 AM during weekdays, not the hotel's fault. The bistro staff are great. The valets doing the parking and vehicle retrieval were great. However, we went down to the bar after dinner and were actively ignored for 15 minutes, so we left. That was the only disappointing aspect of our stay. For what we were paying, that should NOT happen!

A very nice historic hotel in a great location. The service from the front desk was impeccable. Room was nicely decorated and comfortable, especially the bed and bath. Restaurant serves good food. Keep in mind this is an older building so it has its quirks- we were constantly adjusting the thermostat, clock not working, no in room microwave, and the noise level outside was disturbing at times. I think the $45 valet parking is worth it if you stay more than one night.
