Staybridge Suites Detroit-Utica by IHG

Everything about my stay was excellent! The room, the staff, the pool, the hot tub, free laundry, the workout room. The best hotel I stayed at by far. They even served dinner that was included in the stay. This hotel is more of a home feel. You feel even more comfortable than a regular hotel. Choosing this hotel every time when I’m in town

Suite was decent size, clean, good kitchen with coffee maker, microwave and full fridge. Breakfast buffet included with eggs, bacon, sausage, and all the fixings. Landscaped outside pool area great for hanging out at or eating breakfasts by on good days.

We enjoyed the location and accommodations and would recommend. The parking lot was very dark at night and hard to maneuver. Did not feel unsafe but.

Everything was good the only thing is that they need to replace the luggage Cart

Property is in a great location to everything in the area. Staff was friendly. Room was nice. Elevator sounded like it was going to break every time we used it but aside from that the hotel was nice

Shantesha was amazing. Checked in at night. Made us very comfortable. Monday through Friday they have like small plate foods available for free. The laundry facilities are free just bring your own soap. Late check out procedure is fantastic especially when you travel a great distance to get there. STAY HERE!

Dark parking lot at night, not enough lights. People lurking around outside. First room assigned had a door that wouldn’t close or lock, second room smelled like mold and towels in the bathroom were damp on the shelf. Room was very outdated.

I loved the spacious room with a separate bedroom and a full kitchen, the heated pool hot tub and grill area ! Best hot breakfast buffet ever! And free washers and dryers ! Amazing experience

It was nice and quiet. The pool was a great amenity to the room. Staff was very considerate.

Very pleased with the facility and the staff , convenient for an extended stay having all the amenities we needed while visiting the area. One security concern we had was the parking lot where it appeared someone was staying in a camper and a person-hanging out in their car in the back lot where we had to park.

The hotel was very dirty. We had to get a second room assigned because the first one was so bad. The second room we were given was also dirty, but better than the first.

Much needed repairs in bathroom of our room. The door was wilted and had stains. The room wasn’t as clean as it could have been. They didn’t clean it for 2 days and had to keep asking for towels.

Pros: Very large two bedroom suite. Quiet area. Cons: Sparce furniture in the very large room. Needs to be refurbished badly. Almost no lighting in the entire place, a few lamps that was all other then in the bathrooms. Room had full garbage can in kitchen and counter had not been cleaned when we checked in.

The staff at this location is very friendly & accommodating; however, the suites are in need of maintenance as well as a more thorough cleaning. When arriving at our suite we found random bits of cereal under the couch and under the ottomans in the common area. We also found change and a random assortment of towels in the living room tv stand drawers. The plates in the kitchen cabinet had bits of food and when we opened the dishwasher we found the previous guests’ dishes inside. Front desk offered to move us to another suite, but we were only staying for 1 night and declined her offer. She also offered a 15% discount on our stay, but as we booked through hotels.com we needed to go through them to apply the discount. Apparently when hotels.com approached the hotel they refused. The paint on the walls was chipping, and the soap/lotion dispenser in one of the rooms had fallen (or was ripped). The stand was sitting on the bathroom counter and no effort was done to either re-install the stand or repair the wall. The tv remote in the common area needed the batteries replaced and the ottoman in the common area had some pretty visible stains. I can only imagine how rushed their cleaning and building repair staff must be to have overlooked so many issues in one suite and deem it appropriately clean to assign to a guest. I cannot emphasize enough how friendly and helpful their staff was, but it was clear they were RUSHING to get their job done.

Total disaster. The night staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. But that's pretty much where the positives ended. We walked into our room and were greeted by a sight that made us cringe – mysterious oily and white stains all over the place. I don't even want to guess what they were. And the smell? Let's just say it wasn't the scent of cleanliness. More like an old salad with too much vinegar. We went to the front desk manager about it who was very nice, apologized and upgraded us to a one bedroom. But the upgrade was just as filthy. As if that wasn't bad enough, it seemed like every nook and cranny of the hotel was neglected. The lobby, the halls – all of it looked like it hadn't seen a decent cleaning session in ages. And to top it all off, when we tried to warm up the room, it smelled like something was burning. Not exactly the cozy vibe we were going for. In short, our hotel stay was a messy, smelly ordeal. Despite the friendly faces at the front desk, we left with a sour taste in our mouths and won't be booking there again anytime soon.

I booked the hotel through Travelocity and paid in advance-in full. My family and I were waiting for our townhome to be ready on the 8th. We checked into the hotel and immediately noticed that it did not look like the pics. It is outdated, smelly and dirty. The first room was not feasible because the patrons in the room next to ours had a dog that constantly barked. Thus, our room was changed. When we settled into the second room, my husband was taking a shower (the bathroom was dirty and the paint was peeling in the shower) when I noticed something flying around. There were bees everywhere! Yes, bees!! I took a quick video and went to the front desk to report it to the receptionist (who was extremely nonchalant). She began the process of putting us into another room and I asked to see it first. Upon entering the room, I could smell mold and mildew. However, at this point (10:45 pm), my family and I just wanted to get some sleep. My husband had to wake up at 2:30 am for work. We packed up to move into the third room when the reception met us at the elevator stating that the room was “out of service” and no other rooms were available. She told us that they were affiliated with the hotel (Courtyard) next door and we could start a reservation over there by paying upfront. Travelocity approved our refund which would take 7-10 days! We were basically homeless. The hotel refused to comp us that night at the Courtyard so we could sleep and figure the rest out in the am.

Honestly, the biggest issue with this property is that it is old and just not maintained very well. Mold (possibly black mold) on the bathroom ceiling. Peeling paint. Carpet worn & snagged. As much as we’ve enjoyed staying here, it is in desperate need of updating!! Additionally, the breakfast wasn’t as nice as last time we were there…the exact same thing was served every morning we were there. The oatmeal had several inches of water on top and even after stirring looked uncooked and unappealing. The worse part was that our door didn’t close & lock when we left. We had to lift up on the door to get it to latch, which was not only inconvenient , but also a security issue. The staff was VERY nice and helpful, which is always a plus :)

The hotel hallways looked like they had not been swept in months. The 3rd floor smelt like a deep dryer. The room was not clean. I’m not sure where all the amazing reviews come from!!

Everyone was friendly hotel was nice and clean.

The toilet in our bathroom was too close to the door and the door hit the toilet when it opened and closed. Other than this, the room is an excellent condition and clean.

The bed and furniture were comfortable. It’s nice to have option of a soft or firm pillow. The Tv remote was missing the back cover and didn’t work that well.room had some repairs around the shower area that looked a little sloppy,

Thermostat broken so it would not shut off either. Front clerk switched rooms no problem and the next room was fine, very spacious and excellent for multiple people. Only other glitch was finding it, GPS was even confused.

It was nice that the room had a kitchenette. The room was spacious & cozy. Would consider going back.

I have loved Staybridge accommodations for years however the rooms have become outdated. When staying at this hotel make sure you bring your AC plug 🔌 for your electronics because they don't have USB outlets in the rooms.

Room was very outdated. Paint was chipping off over walls and ceiling and bathroom doors. Shower tub is cracked. All three tvs didn’t work either. Room smelled like old dog wet dog and cigarette smoke.

This hotel is decent for a nights stay. Bathroom needs to be updated it was dark and dingy. The room itself was in pretty good shape. You can hear the highway at night if you are on that side.

At arrival, greeted by the counter staff immediately. Very nice and professional. She asked us what room we had preferred instead of just assigning us one. Room was very roomy, clean and well layed out. Bed was very comfortable and got a good night sleep. Breakfast was hot and plenty full. Lots of choices, not just a continental breakfast. Checkout was simple and quick. Counter staff was once again very nice and professional. Will always look for a Staybridge wherever I go. Thanks for making us feel important. Will be back.

The staff were amazing and so friendly. We had a couple of issues with our room, but they did their best to rectify the problems. Hotel is close to LOTS of shopping. Breakfast was lovely too! Will definitely be returning.

It was clean and the employees there was very nice, even when I called and said I was going to be running behind check in hours they work things out and I was able to still check in with no issues..

The property did not have the room that I prepaid for. I was given a significantly lesser room without any price adjustment since it was booked via Expedia. The worst part though was that the front desk clerk tried to scam me into paying for the room a 2nd time, claiming that I didn’t prepay and the reservation was for only have the time that it actually was. Only after I pushed back repeatedly and asked for a manager, did the clerk relent claiming that the system “just updated” to show I had in fact prepaid and showed the correct number of nights that we were staying.

First of all, I have to say the management is outstanding!! There was a little trouble with the reservation upon arrival, and she automatically took care of me immediately, and even upgraded my room! I have zero complaints about the staff, or their attentiveness. One thing I do feel would be helpful as a critique is to mention they do need to update/upgrade a few things at the property. Just things like cracked walls, carpets need to be replaced, that type of thing…other than that, we enjoyed our stay and had a great time! The breakfast was really good and had lots of options! The pool was tons of fun. The lobby has a fireplace that offer a warm ambience, very inviting. The hotel was quiet and relaxing. We had a great time and we would definitely stay again!

Good location for shopping and dining but you need a car . All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The day shift staff was very nice and welcoming. The night staff was rude and seemed like we were inconveniencing them. They also called us about a water leak and was blaming us for the leak. They said if there was water on the floor they were going to charge us. We told them to come up and look. They never came up and it’s one in the morning during this time. I had to call down and see what they were planning on doing that we needed to shower. I guess the leak was coming from the tub. They told us we had to move rooms and that we had to go down and get the new key. By the time we were done moving to a new room it was after 2 in the morning. They never apologized for the inconvenience.

The staff, especially housekeeping was absolutely amazing. The breakfast was very satisfying and really offered everything you could possibly want. Thank you guys for such amazing hospitality.

Great hotel, nice staff, clean & spacious for my family of 5! Booked from out of state not knowing area and location was good, kitchen had everything needed & more and loved the full size freg. And the free laundry access. Would definitely stay here again.

30-40 minutes from Comerica (depending on traffic) and 15-20 from Michigan Lottery Amphitheater. Great location, lots of dining options nearby. Free breakfast.

We picked this hotel because the photos looked nice, and it was the cheapest. The room was ok based on what I paid. The front desk staff were nice and friendly. The kitchen in the room is nice. Cons: The bed was way too soft and dips in like a hole when you lay in it. The bathroom has no fan and the shower is old. It was clean but because it's old it doesn't look nice or appealing. Breakfast in the morning was crowded at 7:30 am. The breakfast buffet space is too small for all the people trying to grab food. Food was not great. watery scrambled eggs, No bacon.

The hotel was a little bit outdated in the rooms and the shower bars seem like they were gonna fall off. Love the two bedroom suite that I had. Breakfast was pretty decent no powdered eggs. Nothing spectacular but definitely good. Staff was excellent. The air unit was loud and the people above us were extremely noisy. Really like that the laundry facilities are free to guests. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel had really comfortable beds. It was perfect with the separation of the bedroom from the main living area and beautiful kitchen. The breakfast was by far the best I’ve ever had! They were continually checking and refilling and cleaning up any spills immediately! Everything was hot and fresh and the fruit, which is the one thing I love but is usually either not completely ripe or over ripe, was perfect! I’ve stayed at many hotels that offer breakfast and this one was by far the best! We can’t wait to come back in the summer as it was a little cold and weren’t able to enjoy the beautiful outside area that had grills and a nice pool.
