Avon Old Farms Hotel

This hotel has always been very clean, quiet and affordable for the area. It is quite unfortunate that an additional $19/per day "facility use fee" is charged and not disclosed in the fees on Expedia. Additionally, this facility fee is justified by the hotel for providing the daily breakfast, which was very basic (no yogurt, granola or fruit and only scrambled eggs, meat, potatoes and some pastry/toast options) and for the exercise room, which had broken and out of service equipment. We occasionally stay here, traveling from out of state to see family. We'll come again because of its proximity, but this last visit was disappointing.

Shower didn’t work and had to switch rooms. Gym was terrible - treadmill broken, no weights, outdated and very small.

Beautiful place with old-world charm. Rooms are large and comfortable and the property is meticulous. Pool is fantastic- great property, lots of lawn chairs, warm water, sun umbrellas. We've stayed here before and will return again- very resort-like setting.

The property was large and well kept with outdoor seating throughout to enjoy the scenery. The onsite restaurant and bar were great with friendly service and the free hot breakfast was good. There was no elevator in our building. We managed, but weren’t warned.

This is a large property with comfortable amenities at a good price. The free breakfast is standard fare, scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, and potatoes with the choice of breads for toast. They also offer some breakfast cereals and Chobani yogurt. The outdoor pool was wonderful, situated next to a grove of tall trees.

Nicely furnished, comfortable room, nice lobbies and restaurant - overall very attractive hotel, One major problem - a $21.85 facility fee that was billed after we left. Hotel was booked through Expedia and price was all inclusive. I don't know what a "facility fee" is and why it is separate. We were not told at check in, and just saw fee pop up on our credit card statement after arriving home.

We brought our EV and our room was located right near the charger making it convenient and nice to keep an eye on it.

Rundown motel, smelly room with no ventilation. AC was a window model and full of mold. Room was facing the highway and it was noisy. The bed was terrible. Avoid if you can.

We stayed one night. Room was clean, bed was comfy and bathroom roomy. Morning buffet was good.

Extremely disappointed. My room was dated, musty, moldy, and had pet hair all over the floor and couch. Not clean at all! What a scam for the price. It’s clear the hotel rooms haven’t been updated in decades. Awful experience.

Other than the dead roach in the corner of my room, the property was in fair condition and in need of an upgrade.

The outside and lobby area of the hotel is nice but that's where the niceness ends. My first room was dirty and in a state of pretty bad wear and tear but I'm not too particular and was traveling for work, I just needed a bed so I didn't care until I was ready for a shower and discovered I didn't have hot water. The front desk associate moved me to another room (no apology given for the inconvenience of having to move rooms) and my second room was even dirtier and in worse shape than the first one! The hotel was pretty dead so I'm guessing word has gotten out about the general dumpiness of this place, but in case you are considering this hotel, I'm sure there are better and cleaner options nearby.

The hallways looked nice—updated even—but our room very rundown and in need of renovation. There were several dirty and faded carpet spots that looked badly soiled and the bathroom tub looked dirty due to age.

conveniently located in terminal two. Bed was nice. But the downside was pretty awful. The carpet, a light color, was plainly quite dirty and stained. I didn’t want to take my shoes off. The shower stall had mold in the ceiling and in the grout lines. This is basic cleanliness and it doesn’t take rocket science for housekeeping to spread the mold when they see it and to keep the carpets clean with some regularity. The hotel was quite dated as many airport hotels are, but this was not a Holiday Inn or a motel six, it was a Sheraton. At this price point, travelers have a right to expect basic cleanliness. what made it worse? Was that at check-in, we were asked what time we plan to check out, which we informed the front desk. But by 8:30 in the morning, housekeeping was already knocking on the door, interrupting our sleep, followed by a bar man, looking for his bar tray that he used to serve a glass of wine to us the night before. we had gone to the bar, as is our habit, to pay for a glass of wine to take to our room. We were told that we could not do that and had to use room service. For travelers on the fly, this is extremely inconvenient because of the wait time. Didn’t make sense to me. We finally checked out shortly after.

The beds were some of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept in at a hotel. Clearly they are very old and in need of updating.

It's a really nice hotel. The downside is that there is no wifi whatsoever. I was given the names of three servers to try and, while one appeared to work for maybe a minute, even that connection sputtered and died. It’s too bad, as the staff are friendly and helpful and the buildings and rooms are beautiful, though showing a little bit of wear. In these times, no wifi is a oretty big deal.

The room was nice but old. The electrical service is ancient. I plugged in my phone charger and the plug fell out of the electrical socket. Very noisy with traffic noise on the side of the motel.

We arrived at the hotel and from the outside looked amazing. Front desk area looked great. It was clean. Staff were very friendly. Check-in was easy. We got to our room. It was very stuffy and smelled stale. I turned on the air conditioning, which seemed to help. The bathrooms and bedding were clean. It looked delightful. Two of the lights in the room did not work. We got dressed and left for the wedding that we were attending. When we arrived back at around 11 PM the room was hot. I went over and turned the air on again. It stayed on for a few minutes and then shut off. So I shut it off and took a shower. When I came back out, I turned the air on again. It came on. I laid down to go to sleep within a few minutes. The air was off. I tried to get it to come on again and it wouldn’t. My father and I did not sleep much. It was so hot in that room. I was sweating. A few times throughout the night I had to go outside to cool off. Came back up slept for a little bit and then was sweating again. finally at 6 AM. I went outside and remained outside until just after seven when I went back to the room to get dressed, I noticed it smelled like sewer. It made me nauseous.I went in the room changed and me and my parents walked down the hall and the smell was strong it was overwhelming. We left and went home. This was probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. We have another wedding coming up I will not be recommending this hotel to my guest.

The main building is beautiful ans amazing, however we were in the annex which was like a 1970s roadside motel. Weird smell. Creaky beds. Very very dated.. i would go back in a heartbeat for the main building only

Nice location, friendly staff. The rooms could use a facelift, especially the bathrooms. Also the AC unit is behind the drapes so climate control is challenging, and there must be a moisture problem because there was a big noisy dehumidifier floor unit in there.

It was ok. It is not an expensive hotel for a reason. It is a bit run down. The shower was like a warn rain event. The bed was serviceable but not really comfortable. When I was there the TV didn't work and the window shade broke. I guess for the low cost it was ok.

Be careful of whether you are booking the main hotel or the motel that is by the property. We were placed in the motel unknowingly. Expedia reimbursed us fully.

I've stayed at the AOF Hotel several times over the past 25 years. The only disappointing aspect of this stay was that the check in failed to tell us about the Covid-era policy of a need to request a room clean / towel change in order to receive maid service. Therefore after our first day of spending time at the school, our room was filthy and we didn't have any towels.

Lovely room, excellent dinner, and dinner server!! Terrible customer service both by a registration clerk(who didn’t have a clue) and even worse by manager . I felt strongly that I should not pay the ripoff “ Faciities Fee” as virtually none of it applied to me. Plus though the check-in clerk tried to say breakfast was part of it, there was a printed card in the room that specifically said it was part of the room rate!! Grrr. For such a nice hotel it was a total turn-off. I am a very steady traveler. They burned me over this $15 charge, a real shame.

My hair dryer didn't work, and the toilet had issues. I told the front desk and thought I might get some money taken off, but that was not offered.

Clean room, courteous staff

This hotel is a wonderful and quaint experience. We have always had great service, and this visit did not disappoint. We were on the third floor of the main building and absolutely loved it. In addition, the breakfast buffet was, as usual, extraordinary! Looking forward to our next stay.

The staff was very nice and there were some nice features like 24/7 coffee & tea and cookies. Complimentary breakfast was not very good. And maintenance was under par--our bathroom fan, which came on every time we turned on the light, sounded like a fog horn. The handles were missing from one of the dresser drawers, making the drawer unusable. We put in a maintenance request but no one was available on the weekends to make repairs.

Beautiful grounds, quiet and safe Prices reasonable

Comfortable and convenient to Avon Old Farms school. Feels homey with games and snacks (good ones, not cheap ones). Great breakfast and restaurant. Across from North House which is also a great restaurant.

Our favorite place to stay because of the proximity to Avon Old Farms school and the amenities.

Great location. Clean. Nice colonial style. Been here in past. Now is looking a little tired. Pricing better than reasonable.

Second stay here over the holidays. The location is great. It’s a beautiful older hotel in a quiet area. The holiday decorations are very pretty as well. Our room was large and comfortable.

Avon Old Farms Hotel was convenient to several restaurants and shopping areas.Their breakfast buffet was varied and delicious. The dining area for breakfast was beautiful, light and airey. The room was clean and comfortable. Everyone was very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

Check in was ok, but we found that the bed was very firm - uncomfortable on your side ok on your back. The bathroom fan was very noisy, the WiFi didn't work. Breakfast was awful:the scrambled eggs were almost hard, the sausage barely warm, the bacon cold. The lone guy running it was on his phone and barely could look up to say sit anywhere. When he engaged, he was friendly enough.

Disappointing Stay – Doesn’t Compare to Other 3-Star Hotels We stayed at Old Farms for just one night, and thankfully so. The room was average at best — nothing special, certainly not what I’d expect from a 3-star property. While the hotel has potential to be charming, it falls short in its current state. The biggest letdown was breakfast. The eggs were soggy and undercooked, and everything was served on paper plates with plastic cutlery — a first for me at a hotel of this rating. Overall, a forgettable experience. With some attention to detail, this place could be lovely, but it’s not there yet

The Avon Old Farms hotel was an amazing experience. Very welcoming. Places to gather with friends throughout. Friendly staff. Delicious food from Seasons restaurant, which is on site. Eli was my server. He was excellent. Would stay again if I am in that area. Highly recommended.

Charming property! The Sunday brunch was amazing! Food, in general, was excellent. The staff was top notch.

I don’t know why you’d stay anywhere else. For the money this is the most beautiful hotel you could stay in and the breakfast is much better than chain hotel breakfasts. Thoughtful details in decor and beautiful views, bird feeders set up outside the breakfast window, dogwoods outside the room windows, kind staff, literally everything from start to finish made it the best stay I’ve had in a long time!
