Overall, a pretty good hotel, but it has some maintenance issues. The laminated plank floor in our room was warping, so it was risky to walk around barefoot. Not just one plank, but the whole floor seemed to be coming unglued. Also, the handle on the shower faucet was not attached, just pushed onto the splines. Otherwise, comfortable and quiet - with those issues fixed it would have been 5 stars. The only other complaint I had was that there is no light on the outside sign, which is ground-mounted. We drove straight past the hotel in the dark on our arrival. That needs to be fixed.

Typical hotel with no frills. Place was clean, relatively recently updated, breakfast was decent, workout room is elliptical, bike and treadmill. Seemed like a safe part of town, huge park across the street.

Overall it was a good value. It's hard to find free parking and free breakfast nowadays. I didn't have the breakfast because i needed to get on the road but there was ample parking. They had hard wood floors in the room which i was surprised by as I don't think I've ever been in a hotel without carpeted floors. The chair at the desk was very old and frayed, and the shower area showed signs of needing repair, but the water pressure was great in the shower. Staff was nice. Would stay here again as it's close to family and affordable.

The area feels safe. The facilities are ok. The breakfast quality and selection are not what is expected. The first day the bagels were hard as a rock and the other pastries seemed to be a week old. The second day there were no bagels, so the third day the bagels were a bit fresher. Wouldn’t stay again there. In four nights no cleaning service was available, not even for the bathroom.

We got into our room and it smelled like marijuana first of all. Second, we pulled the blankets back to fine the bed had been made with the nasty remnants of the previous guest left on the sheets. They give us another room, where the TV has not been hooked up and NO TELEPHONE to call the front desk to get assistance . This hotel was a hot mess.

I rarely write reviews, but I have to tell future travelers that this hotel has a strange smell — it’s an old building, but that’s not what’s up. The whole place has a strong scent that made me feel like I was in this cheap motel (and my room was dark so that didn’t help). I couldn’t figure it out for a while, but I think they have an air freshener that smells like Glade Spice (or something like that). It is super strong, so I bought Febreze. If you’re sensitive to smells, I would recommend staying somewhere else. If you’re not, this place is clean, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. :)

Awful. Bed bugs infestation and manger has yet to respond to our email August 14. Likely will file a complaint with the Health authorities. Will request full refund due to lack of response from the putative hotel. E Monteiro

I wasnt expecting a classy joint, or anything, but considering that 2 of the 3 nights we stayed our keycards we deactivated. Our lights/power went out in JUST our room on our last day and there was quite the wait before it was addressed. And the front desk was unattended for hours on a weekend. Not to mention the less than perfect condition of a few areas of the room. Ripped lamp shade, makes on wall, cracked toilet, dented fridge....sure it wasnt an expensive place to stay but i still feel i overpaid.

The place is nice overall, but it would be great if they could provide loafers or slippers for guests. The walls are quite thin—you can clearly hear conversations from the neighboring rooms. Also, if someone is vacuuming the room above you in the morning, the noise is loud enough to disturb your sleep.

⁰A lower cost option that mostly works. We have stayed twice and each time we had a minorish issue eith plumbing. This stay, the water pressure in the shower was unacceptably low. We asked for help but it never got addressed. Otherwise, stay was good. Breakfast is fairly basic but good. Bed comfort was good.

Shower head was only 4 feet off the floor, shower head spilling water onto the floor (not centered in the shower), toilet paper holder attached to the toilet side in back, bad lightening everywhere, no counter space in the bathroom, hair on the sheets ( I asked for new ones and no offer to change them), outside doors don’t close on their own (not safe), vending machine doesn’t make change and neither does the front desk, no bar soap available and no hand soap at the bathroom sink, no towel bar at the sink, end table for the bed was put into the bathroom so there was no end table on one side of the bed, no alarm clock. Reserved a King and got an only one queen.

It looks like they are making improvements but I was scared when I walked the hallway to my room. The carpets look like they haven’t been replaced since 1970. The room was surprisingly updated and nice. However, in a two night stay my key stopped working on the second day and no housekeeping, not even to empty the garbage and give more coffee supplies.

The check in was easy, There were 4 of us, only 2 sets of towels, Had to go back to the front desk to request extra towels, The parking situation was not too good, we came back in late, parking was full, the front desk was not helpful, told me to just park along the side of the road, I was adamant on not doing that in case someone backed out of the parking spot and hit me. Had to squeeze in between cars that were not in right spots. There were a car sitting with flat tires and a couple of cones blocking off a couple of parking spots. They should have maintain the parking lot better by opening some spots for guests. They cleaned the room just fine, but again, 2 sets of towels instead of 4, so I went to the front desk during evening, asked for more sets, they said no, they don't have access to the laundry to get towels. Told me to come back in the AM to get them, Front desk should have at least stacks of towels behind in case for something like this to happen. This was my 2nd time staying there, will not stay there again based on service that I had received.

We have stayed at the Quincy Howard Johnson hotel for the past five years. It has always been positive, even during the COVID years. This trip was our last for a while as our child has graduated. This trip, I asked the front desk to please clean our room and unplug the toilet when we left in the morning. When we arrived back late that night nothing was done, including a disgusting toilet. I went back to the front desk and the gentleman was very dismissive, saying there was no one help. He then handed me a toilet plunger. I was very disappointed with that resolution to the problem.

Good hotel for an 8 night stay in the Boston area, located about 10 mins walk from Wollaston subway station and 15 mins walk from central Quincy. Decent selection of hot/cold items available for breakfast from 06.30 each morning. Room clean and everything worked OK. Situated in a very good area, so no problems on that front. Will certainly consider staying there again on a future trip to the Boston area, even if the MBTA subway service left something to be desired......(and that's well outside the hotels control!)

I chose this hotel because the website said breakfast started at 6 AM, and I knew I had to leave at 6:30 sharp for an important appointment. I arrived downstairs at 5:55 AM, and I saw nothing was set up. Someone began setting up at about 6:05 AM, and I noticed signage outside said breakfast started at 6:10 AM. It would be tight, but I could still make it. At 6:15 AM, nothing was available yet, so I asked the lady setting up when breakfast would be ready. She said 6:30 AM, to which I replied that the website said 6 AM. She snapped back that the paperwork when we checked in said 6:30 AM. Now I don’t remember getting any such paperwork, but more importantly, you book based on the website, and it’s no longer refundable after that, so there was no way for me to know until this terrible little interaction. I was almost late for my appointment and had to go buy food in a rush, which completely undermined the reason I booked this hotel over others. Bait and switch. I wish I had stayed elsewhere to avoid this problem.

Obviously not a five star hotel if you’re comparing to the ritz.. but a definite 5** in this moderate price range. Check in clerk was very helpful in suggesting & directing us To various amenities. Would definitely stay here again

It was overall clean. The furniture was not in good condition. The bed was comfortable but had a stain on the side and was not enclosed in a mattress protector. There were some minor things that needed repair. The breakfast is very minimal and runs out most mornings before 9:30. Staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good and close to the subway (10-15 min walk).

It was as advertised, location was ideal, expensive for what you get, but that is what it costs to be close to downtown Boston Breakfast was just ok, could have been better
