Free coffee/tea in the lobby would have been nice. Elevator issue - only 1 of 3 working. Used the stairs for our 5th floor rooom.

They have no parking except valet and charged the outrageous price of 37 dollars!!! Apparently they have parking below the building but do not let you park yourself!!!! I was not pleased at all

I was expecting a better experience than I received. The place was under construction and the pool was no longer there. The staffing at the roof top bar and lobby was scarce. The room smelled of vinegar coming from the AV unit and the sink in the bathroom was leaking. Was unimpressed.

The property was conveniently located near plenty of dining options and the staff were very friendly and professional. They also have a really cool rooftop bar/restaurant. The only con was that the pool is permanently closed.

Construction was overbearingly loud in the lobby area. They did give free drink tokens out because of this so that was nice. Other than painfully loud noises checking in and while waiting for my room to be ready, it was a very nice hotel. The rooftop bar was really nice and the bartender working on 8/10/25 around 4:00 pm was really good and very professional.

Would not let us checkin until 4pm. Atleast 10 other travelers had to wait in the lobby area before they would let anyone checkin. There was very loud construction going on in the lobby so we could not even talk to each other. At 4 pm, all the rooms magically opened up for checkin but now we had to wait in a very long line. Only 1 working elevator for an 18 story building. Valet is expensive, even for Richmond.

I was given a king size room, even though the reservation was for 2 queens. Only 1 elevator was working and apparently they had been out all week. Ridiculous. Then the cars keys weren’t working. It literally took 4 trips to the front desk to get into a room. I was very frustrated.

Great place to stay as always. Room decor is very cute. This time the sink in the bathroom was very tiny which was a bit inconvenient but overall a very comfortable stay. The new rooftop bar Byrd House is great addition. The view from there is amazing and the place has a great vibe.

Very nice hotel with a great rooftop bar in a great location. My only complaint is that valet parking is all they offered and it was very expensive at around 40$ a night. The valet can also take around 30 minutes or so to get your vehicle when it gets busy. I would definitely stay here again, but would look into different parking options on my return.

My room was dusty, the toliet paper dispenser was broken. My bed was very comfortable

Not very many linens--we didn't even have a bathmat. Beds are comfy. Room was clean, but wear and tear in the bathroom. Lobby not very clean even at 7am in the coffee shops--table with sticky on it, moved over and found a pepperoni on the floor.

The room was dusty. AC left a big wet spot on the carpet. The coffee service in lobby was slow and was lukewarm. The front desk attendant was informative, friendly and polite.

Very comfortable beds, crisp clean sheets & 3 pillows on queens. Bathroom immaculate. Staff friendly & helpful. Valet parking was prompt. Wooden coin at check-out for free coffee. Roof top bar was a plus!

A nice property and good location, but housekeeping was minimal to absent. I checked into my room and the bathroom was still dirty and had used towels. Trying to correct this was very difficult and delayed my plans to spend time in Richmond. The entire trip was nearly saved by a very polite young woman at the front desk, though, and most of the staff were polite and upbeat.

We just completed our stay and shorten and end our time there by one night. Still waiting to hear if Expedia is going to refund us for the last night. The property is currently undergoing renovation so there is construction noise in the building during the day up until around 6 PM. The rooms that are not being renovated, one of which we were staying in, smelled musty and moldy. The bathrooms are extremely small and not easy for two people to navigate if they are in there at the same time. There are very few electrical outlets in the room. The valet parking fee is excessive ($37 per night) and the valet company is not related to the hotel. Hotel parking is currently being used by construction materials and vehicles, so your car will be parked off property about three blocks away. My average wait to retrieve my car was 25 minutes. Most of the staff seemed friendly enough, but more than a few of them looked disheartened and unhappy to be there. And the last straw for us was that the elevators stopped operating and repairs to get them working again were still not complete when we left the hotel. We were fortunate to be on only the fourth floor, but some guests on higher floors must’ve been much more inconvenienced than we were. Maybe the hotel will be a better place to stay when renovations are complete, but I would ask before I make a reservation there again.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and comfortable and seemed to have been renovated within the last few years.

I wanted to love this hotel but it badly needs a refresh. There were so many large stains on the carpet in my room that I felt really icky walking around with my shoes off. The bathroom did not feel clean- the caulking around the tub and toilet was peeling off and what was there looked like it had been applied by someone who has never done it before. The staff was friendly and helpful for the most part but the valet just watched my friends and I struggle to load our bags in the car, even after we left him a nice tip. Not super hospitable.

For the money, I was very disappointed for a Graduate hotel. $20 for a very small Manhattan and they did not take cash at bar. Over $30 to park for one night. Arrived at 4 pm and left at 6 am! Carpet on our floor was buckling up. Elevator had liquid spilled in it. Bathroom door was as scraping the floor. Really need to update the rooms. Staff was wonderful.

Overall, the facility could use a few updates but the friendly staff made up for that lack. There were a few details in the rooms and the hallway that could use a paint touch up. However, the rooftop bar and pool is excellent!

While the room was nice and the staff great, the mattress was soft and uncomfortable. Also, the pillows were hard, way oversized and largely useless. The air conditioner in our room was so loud it felt like we slept next to an aircraft. Modern air conditioning is quiet, but these are old and need replacing.

Check-in/out staff was friendly but made no effort to help with easy requests (like finding a bowl, any bowl, to put water in for my dog). Room was large and clean though the bathroom was small and in need of a refresh as the paint of the shower tray was peeling off. Being so close to VCU also meant the room was noisy, I could hear students at a house party until well after midnight.

We stayed in the family suite, which was really quite spacious and nice. It was a real hit with our toddler too! For other people considering booking this type of room, it might be helpful to know that the only entrance to the room is through the “family” side (aka the bunk beds). The preference would be that the door is on the “parent” or “adult” side. While it wasn’t an issue for us, it would have been challenging if someone needed to leave the room while she was sleeping and causes some anxiety to have the entrance be on that side should someone enter unexpectedly, but there was a closure that wouldn’t allow someone to come in. The other thing to note is that there is valet service that is separate from the hotel. There is not parking on the property site.

The stay was fine. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The valet was a bit rude and seemed irritated to have to deal with us. There was stinky food left in the refrigerator and no coffee maker, just an electric kettle and instant coffee. It was ok.

Rooms are on the worn side but you can't argue with the location

The bathroom has a tiny sink with no place to even put a toothbrush. There are not enough outlets conveniently placed for a hair dryer/flat iron. There isnt even a shelf in the bathroom, just the tiny sink. There was definitely room for a vanity, not sure why anyone would design a bathroom like this.

As I mentioned earlier, when I entered the room, it had some kind of strong scent. I had to run the fan from the heater/AC for several hours to dissipate it. I really got a good night sleep because the bed was wonderful and I like the extra long pillows they had. The bathroom was kind of strange because it had a low ceiling and there was not a lot of room. But the shower was very invigorating.

Not a good experience. My room was across from the elevators which were noisy and apparently there was some issue. I heard the elevator ding (loudly) 10 time between 3:00 and 3:30 am. The crack under the door was large and let both sound and light in. The room next door had someone talking loudly until 3:00 am when I got up and banged on the door. I knew I should have asked for another room as soon as I saw that it was across from the elevator and heard how unusually loud the elevator bells were but I never imagined that I would hear them all night.

The staff was the best thing about this hotel! They were extreme friendly and went above and beyond for us. The theme of the graduate is interesting and the decor attempts to be more unique and modern. However, the bathroom without a counter is completely impractical. There was also no desk so not sure how people should get ready without any counter space. The bed was hard as a rock and very low to the ground which was also odd. Our keys stopped working and we were locked out of our room at one point but the staff gave us drink vouchers so we could grab a drink from the bar while we waited.

Our reservation was listed under a completely different name. Took 40 min for us to check in.

Great staff, vibe, location, and hotel overall. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

Fire alarm went off around 930 pm, went down 13 flights of stairs, two staff were at desk acting like nothing is going on. No guidance, no communication, stood on the side of the street with other guests, no staff or management ever came to tell us anything. About 20 minutes after, the alarm was still going off, no fire truck came to clear the building a staff member came out and motioned us to come in, no words, just waved us in. Two minor issues, a big hole in the bath towel and the pump with the conditioner in it in the shower was broken. The guy doing valet was great in explaining to me how the parking on the street worked, I was able to park for free 1/2 a block away. Very limited selections for breakfast, but guy working was accommodating and made my son a "chocolate" flavored coffee. Checkout was easy.

The staff helped as much as they could, but the hotel was undergoing renovations. Apparently, the day we were checking in, they were swapping out beds or mattresses in hotel rooms and must have been running behind. We were not able to check in for literally about 3 hours after we arrived well after check-in time. They were slammed at the front desk because of this. Upon asking for some kind of compensation for this, they offered to comp a meal at the hotel restaurant up to $100 for the three of us (myself, husband, and elderly mom). That was nice, but it should have been a policy communicated by managers to offer that up front without a customer having to ask for it given the situation. There was constant jackhammering, so the lobby was so loud you couldn't hear anyone. We used valet parking, so our car was not available, and my mother could barely walk and had just had a medical procedure that required her to lie down all afternoon. We came from out of state to VCU hospital, and we had to try to set her up on a couch in the back of the lobby area next to young guys playing shuffle board. It was crowded because so many people were waiting for their rooms, and the jackhammer noise was unrelenting. It was quite traumatic for my mother, as she had been through a lot, and for her safety she had been instructed to be lying down the rest of the day. We had never in a million years guessed that we would walk out of the hospital and into this situation after booking this hotel.

The front desk staff were nice but not too smart. I was charged twice for my room then double charged for parking. I had to argue to get this corrected, that was frustrating. I like this hotel, the location is perfect for visiting my son at VCU.

Top notch service. Top to bottom, front desk, valets, bar and restaurant staff exceeded my expectations.

I booked this hotel for my wife's birthday--to give her a solo trip for rest and rejuvenation. The Front Office Manager, Francyne, went above and beyond to provide an exceptional experience for my wife. Francyne layered on a few surprises that we didn't even ask for (i.e. bday balloons in the room) that made my wife feel special. The welcome my wife received will keep us booking with The Graduate for years to come. 5 stars, for sure!

I booked my reservation through hotels.com. when we arrived to the property they could not find my reservation. It took almost an hour to resolve the issue and get checked in. I was absolutely exhausted and just wanted to rest!

This property was great location to VCU.

Great location…walk to Altria

For a Hilton I was surprised in the condition. Old rugs, and running toilets. Just did not smell fresh and clean. We did eat at the only restaurant inside the facility .The food and service was very good. We appreciated the front end team on reassigning us to an adequate substitute to our original room. For the location , not a very safe area to walk ,especially in the evening. Most stores looked like they have been closed for sometime. This hotel is a place to go if you were driving through and needed to spend a night. Nothing was that horrible just basic and needs a good update. Staff was caring and wanted to do the best possible.

Check in and check out was quick and easy. The hotel was very cute and so clean. Our beds were comfortable. We were there for a show at the Altria Theatre and it was an easy walk. There are many restaurants in the area also.

Great location for going to Altria Theater. Easy to use Valet parking. Byrd house for a drink and quick dinner before show was a nice bonus. Enjoyed “welcome” from front desk staff

Great hotel and wonderful rooms. Beds were super comfy and decor was cozy! Roof deck was cool and staff very friendly. Neighborhood was just okay and not much to walk too.

This is a well maintained property and the staff are great. Very safe neighborhood to walk to restaurants and attractions. Loved the rooftop bar.

Hotel, staff and amenities all very good. The shower floor needs a good scrub with something like sift scrub to minimize the 'dirt' stains. Bathroom was clean. We were put off at arrival and unpacking our car that there was a homeless women sitting at the entrance and immediately asking to speak to me and requesting funds. Another individual started talking to me and I walked away. We support the homeless condition as volunteers, grate patrol, donation of food,feeding the homeless but prefer not to be approached when on vacation at the hotel at which we are paying to stay. Though not us but this could make customers feel uneasy about staying at the venue.

Check-in was a bit awkward due to third party booking, guest relations collected payment for incidentals (as expected) however claimed my card was declined for a trivial balance ($14ish) which was determined to be the difference from direct vs hotels.com booking. The in house restaurant was major draw to booking our stay at The Graduate, especially after a full day of travel- unfortunately, it was rented out for a private event. We had mediocre level door dash delivered and ate in our room. Lastly, valet service is an added charge- clearly stated on booking; however an added disclaimer should be the 30min wait to retrieve your vehicle the morning of departure. Overall, the stay was nice- the hotel is charming, just a few points of frustration.

The Graduate Hotel met our expectations: It was conveniently located in the heart of the city, it had character and a history, was affordable and its staff were pleasant and helpful. The quality of the food and service at the restaurants at the The Graduate were an unexpected bonus.

Stay here was pretty typical. Not all it’s hyped up to be. Breakfast is expensive and not worth it. Very confusing on breakfast process. Illy informed at checkin about breakfast and whether it was complimentary or not. Overall hotel is dark; not very much lighting. Was not informed when booking, that hotel has no parking other than valet. Informed that if we didn’t use and pay valet, we have to park on the street and pay the meter. Not really satisfied with our stay for the price that we paid. Would not recommend

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Cafe downstairs was cozy and great for a quick breakfast.

We were celebrating a job promotion and decided to do a little staycation in a Richmond. Everything is a la carte at the property which is customary for boutique hotels, but the quality of services offered didn’t match the prices. I think $40 including taxes is a bit extreme for valet parking in Richmond. I live very close so we ended up dropping my friend’s car off at my house and taking an uber for around $10. It ended up saving us around $120. The pool was not clean and didn’t look like it was being taken care of. Walls looked like they had mildew on them in some places. The kids found bolts from the ladder at the bottom of the pool. We were disappointed with the breakfast buffet as well. For $25/person I expect more than powdered eggs, French toast sticks, frozen sausage and soggy hash browns. We did like the game area and being able to walk to a few places and the rooftop bar. I think we were all just kinda disappointed in the quality of food for the prices the most. I’m local so I doubt I’ll stay there again. I’d visit the bar and play pool in the lobby though.

The good parts were that it’s a lovely property, when you are able to speak with staff they are friendly. The cost verse the amenities was where it went wrong. Breakfast cost 2 people 40$ and as a person with high allergies, I wasn’t able to eat most of the items provided and a lot of the items for breakfast were cold and already gone by the time I got there. A drink was not included.

The location was perfect for a trip to the Altria theater. The hotel was very welcoming, clean, and confortable. We used the restaurant twice for convenience. The menu was rather limited, but food was good. Would like tea for a choice in-room, and coffee available in lobby.
