I booked a one night stay in a single room as I was working near Newquay. Check in staff very friendly and helpful when asked for recommendations, room and bed very comfortable, pool and gym looked very serviceable even though I didn’t use them. Location very good for walking to town and amazing sunsets!

Lovely place to stay and a bargain to boot - indoor pool and outdoor pool open for those brave enough to take the benefits of a cold water dip in November! Car park tight but not an issue with a small car or when there are plenty of spaces...minor issue with a large car park around the corner. Will certainly stay again if in the area.

Great hotel! All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. There was plenty of breakfast food, full English or a continental option. You could have both and go back for more, self-service. The evening meals were excellent. Compliments to the chef. One, two or three courses at a reasonable fair price. Nicely presented, with quick service. Parking was £8 for 24 hours. The pool isn’t huge but it's okay. Extra towels can be collected from reception. The small gym was a bonus. It has a good selection of exercise machines and weighs. There was evening entertainment in the bar which started at 8.30 and finished at 10.30, (vocalist or entertainers) We read some of the negative reviews and some are really not fair or true. We stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Newquay. Well done to everyone at the Kilbirnie Hotel.

Booked this last minute and so glad I did, we only stayed one night but the staff were lovely, the room was clean and pool although small was great. Close enough to the town centre that you could walk in and far enough to get a good nights sleep. Would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel.

The stay was very welcoming and the service was very kind and accommodating of us and our little dog. However, we had a huge family room and only a queen sized bed in it which didn’t really make sense. The windows were in need of a good clean outside and the bedspread had a rip in which although isn’t unclean kind of didn’t represent the hotel in the way the rest of it did. I’m aware it’s undergoing renovation so sure the rest of it will match soon. Its position is fab and easy to walk or drive around the Newquay / Cornwall area.

Unfriendly staff, terrible room condition. Extremely humid room quite near to the kitchen and pool ventilation. Burned oil smell was constantly in the room. Very super small room not enough space on the ground to open a suitecase. I kept bumping ro my spouse if I wanted to move from the bed to the toilet.

Room I had booked was a sea view. And although you could see some of the sea it was mostly the roof of the hotel blocking it. The room was ok, bed was comfortable, but the lock on the bathroom door was broken. The hairdryer did not work and when switched on, smoke started coming out the back of it. I tried to call reception on the desk but the phone didn’t dial through? There also wasn’t a plug socket on my side of the bed which although wasn’t a problem it may bother some.

Friendly, clean, with great views when in a seafront room. The car park is a bonus and there was always a parking space when I was going in and out. My only comment was on the middle floor you could hear other guests on the floorboards above. However they could have been baby elephants! Will stay here again

Checked in fine. I just wanted a night away from my major house renovation to relax, before starting hospital treatment. No relaxing, TV didn’t work. Receptionist couldn’t get it to work and no manager or maintenance on-site. Hotel full so i couldn’t change rooms. Checked in fine. I just wanted a night away from my major house renovation to relax, before starting hospital treatment. No relaxing, TV didn’t work. Receptionist couldn’t get it to work and no manager or maintenance on-site. Hotel full so i couldn’t change rooms. Great hotel! All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. There was plenty of breakfast food, full English or a continental option. You could have both and go back for more, self-service. The evening meals were excellent. Compliments to the chef. One, two or three courses at a reasonable fair price. Nicely presented, with quick service. Parking was £8 for 24 hours. The pool isn’t huge but it's okay. Extra towels can be collected from reception. The small gym was a bonus. It has a good selection of exercise machines and weighs. There was evening entertainment in the bar which started at 8.30 and finished at 10.30, (vocalist or entertainers) We read some of the negative reviews and some are really not fair or true. We stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Newquay. Well done to everyone at the Kilbirnie Hotel.

Booked this last minute and so glad I did, we only stayed one night but the staff were lovely, the room was clean and pool although small was great. Close enough to the town centre that you could walk in and far enough to get a good nights sleep. Would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel.

The stay was very welcoming and the service was very kind and accommodating of us and our little dog. However, we had a huge family room and only a queen sized bed in it which didn’t really make sense. The windows were in need of a good clean outside and the bedspread had a rip in which although isn’t unclean kind of didn’t represent the hotel in the way the rest of it did. I’m aware it’s undergoing renovation so sure the rest of it will match soon. Its position is fab and easy to walk or drive around the Newquay / Cornwall area.

The staff were amazing and very helpful. Even with the rain we managed to keep the children entertain with the pool and vast bar area where they run in circles. We got luck with parking but there seems to be parking available nearby. The Land train stop was right next to the hotel which takes you all the way to Fistral beach. The location is great with two beautiful beaches within 6min to 8 mins walk.

Looks like its Hotel is refurbished recently. Rooms are clean and Bathroom is clean too. No issues. Its very close to the beaches especially Lusty Glaze. Nice location with sea view if you get front rooms. Walkable to beaches and high street for restaurants. Only downside was hotel car parking is very tight and not easy to get easily to the car park at the rear as the entrance is slopy and other car blocking the entrance restricting the space to enter the car park. Also, Hotel dinner is ok - not exiciting. Breakfast is good but its same everyday. Not much choice on pastries/ no scramble eggs/ only fried eggs. Fruit was minimal. Highlight is the location of the hotel and rooms are clean.

Writing Although the restaurant staff, bar staff, and room service were kind and helpful, unfortunately there were several issues that made my stay disappointing. The reception experience was particularly uncomfortable. My pronouns were repeatedly used incorrectly, even though my information had been updated in the app. I expected the reception team to respect and use the correct information. The property itself appears quite old and poorly maintained. The swimming pool handrail was damaged and loose in several places, which felt unsafe. The walls had visible damage, as did the internal room door. The duvets also appeared stained and were not in an acceptable condition for a hotel charging this price. The room had no air conditioning, and the window could not be properly opened because of the child-safety lock, which made the airflow very poor. The toilet ventilation was also extremely noisy, sounding almost like a helicopter when it started. Breakfast was another disappointment. The choice was very limited, mainly a basic English breakfast. There was only one type of cheese and ham, no vegetables, no fruit, and only square bread for toast. The coffee selection was also poor, with only black coffee available from the machine. Overall, while some staff members were friendly and helpful, the condition of the property, room maintenance, limited breakfast, and poor reception experience do not feel justified for the price paid. I would expect much better standards and attention
