The Beresford Hotel

I would have given this a much higher rating if I wasn’t disturbed 2 out of the 3 nights I stayed due to a faulty fire alarm going off in the early hours of the morning. I could forgive one night not two It also suggests there is adequate parking onsite and made me think I’d be able to park at the hotel however when I arrived there were only a handful of places, that I was only informed on arrival, were already booked. This would be helpful if it were explained that you have to park a way from the hotel before booking

Expedia,did not inform it was Friday i cancelled,they were told i had no Room in 29th,though Expedia sent me a message confirming this.6 hour drive to say i should have checked in yesterday.Room was ready, people came and went, thought sat opposite desk,were we were told to sit.No one informed us,20 past 3,we had to ask. Once in room, nothing like photos.Was told no parking it's all gone,but we could park round corner carpark,it was miles away.We asked to dine at the restaurant,but was told we couldn't as it was booked for a private function.No extra, pillow's provided,only one chair,in a double room.Folk slamming doors outside our room,folk banging and running around above our room.I cannot tell you what breakfast is like as,we haven't got to that yet,day one is Now.NEVER again you have ruined my time off work on so called holiday.

The bedroom wasn't upta much you could here the wind blowing through the window the bar had closed due to a break in and no entertainment i saw it as a waste of money

The property advertises an all day menu, however, dining was only available for coach parties.

No parking, the lady at the reception called was so confused and deceitful, very unprofessional.

I am still waiting for a part refund after phoning hotel.com on tues 18th June which I was told would take up to 72 hours. There was no bar or restaurant for evening meals and after a 13 hr bus ride was disgusting especially when it stated on the hotel .com website that these facilities were there.

Not as advertised. No bar. No restaurant therefore no breakfast. Staff helpful and apologetic.

Was good but room on 3rd floor and for all stay lift broken. Very little parking spaces available good job we came in time when manage to snatch one otherwise not sure where I would park. Walls not pained on corridors . Water tap splashed all over us everytime we switched it on. Toilet filling was noisy like if some builders were in. Walls transparent could hear every conversation going in other room.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was baking hot because they had the heat cranked and you couldn’t turn it down. So I got no sleep and I had just finished working a party until 1am and had to do another one the next day! Horrible service!!! Then I had to drive down the street to park at a train station because they had no parking. Paid £12 for that. £75 for a hotel room where I didn’t sleep a wink. And then they charged me a late checkout fee of £25. So £112 for a hotel room that was horrible! They should go out of business! Don’t rent from these people! They don’t care if your stay is comfortable. If they did, they would pay £5 and buy nobs for their piping hot radiators!!!! Ridiculous!!!!

The staff, were all incredibly professional, helpful and hospitable. Unfortunately, the layout of the rooms in the hotel is very confusing and not fully accessible. The room next to us was smoking weed and stunk out our whole corridor. We felt very unsafe and reported this to the hotel staff. The police should be involved in these instances as there should not be any smoking in the rooms nor of illegal drugs. The beds were very comfy and clean, however when you looked closely at the room, the chair had dirt and crumbs on, the skirting board was filthy with dirt and dust, and there was rust and stains on the walls. It really put the incredible host staff to shame.

Very dated hotel. Room was very old fashioned, broken window. Carpets black mould in corners. Stains on the bed. Not the standard expected when booking the room from photos used for advertisement.

Great location on the main road into the town opposite one of the main beaches in Newquay and within a short walk of the town centre amenities. The communal areas are really nice and the welcome excellent. The main room was okay with a comfortable bed and modern TV. The green-coloured bathroom was the biggest disappointment which was in need of renovation and a very good clean. Offered value for money out of season and would stay again

I arrived at the property, it looks very dirty from outside. I was hit with an overwhelming smell of smoke when entering with my dog. The smell did not pass at all, our room smelt just as bad. There was cracks over the walls, marks and bits of paint on the floor that I’m guessing had fallen off the door frame. Bathroom is very dated. Safe to say we wont be returning.

Location is good and the staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. The bed sheets were clean and basic items supplied. It's not a bad choice if you're on a budget however personally it wasn't for me. Some things I wasn't keen on were the uncomfortable mattresses and the noisy generator outside our bedroom window (we were told on check out that it's because our room was situated above the kitchen) so probably not an issue in all rooms. The room itself was clean enough but a few mouldy patches in the bathroom. The corridors and main hotel entrance had a toilet smell unfortunately which put us off using the restaurant. It's a budget hotel at an affordable price so can't expect perfection. We only stayed 1 night and it was fit for the purpose of our stay. The hotel is very tired but some areas have been renovated so maybe it's a work in progress.

Unfortunately, upon arriving at my room for my first holiday with my girlfriend, I was extremely disappointed to see such an unacceptable state. Everything, and I mean absolutely everything was dirty or stained. The wall, the toilet door, the main door, the carpet, the ceiling, the curtains. I have added picture evidence for this. Upon speaking to Andrew at the reception, he firstly told us that there were no other rooms available. This caused us to run around quickly throughout New Quay, scrambling around and asking places for potential locations to stay. This took up precious time of our holiday, not to mention being uncomfortable during our run, as hotel receptions were closing. Andrew contacted me after to inform me of a new room. One that was in much better conditions, however, I had to put the beds together as opposed to having the double bed I paid extra for in the first place. While the new room was of an acceptable condition, there were still some issues. Firstly, the shower was blocked, and the water had built up, as seen on the picture. Secondly, as it was two single beds put together, I was had an uncomfortable night sleep as I kept falling through the hole in between the two beds. While I appreciate Andrew’s politeness, this situation is completely unacceptable, and took up a lot of time and caused distress on me and my girlfriend’s

Lovely lady’s on reception when checking in. Room carpet needs a very good deep clean, a few big stains on carpets. Shower n toilet needs up dating. Shower got too hot and you couldn’t turn it down to cool. Light switches to bed room n bathroom just stuck on the main door jorm which needs rectifying. Just glad we had only booked a one night stay.

The staff were super friendly and the hotel was clean and tidy. The bathroom shower and taps needed replacing a there was a terrible drain smell throughout the stay. Rooms were a good size and the hotel was located near the beach with great views of the sunset.

The receptionist was amazing very hospitable warm and welcoming. The room was ok and clean unfortunately thr shower drainhole cover was loose and not in. It needs some TLC ( tender living care, as this was mg second visit. In 2 yrs. It seems like since the change in ownership the standards are a kujjtlw unkept. But overall the hotel is lovey clean and reasonable. Woth a beautifully seaview.

The property is right in front of the sea. Beautiful view from my room. The radiator did not work but when i wpoke to reception, straightaway i was given a heater. The toilet flushing system was bad. You had to wait a long time for it to fill up before flushing.

Very noisy did not get any sleep at all

Beds comfy amd great view, a little rough around the edges such as some damp in room, water pressure for toilet and shower not great but overall, ok to stay in but very basic.

The receptionist was very welcome. Beautiful view and location was amazing with sea view and seaside within 5 minutes walk.

Lovely receptionists

1.On arrival we were told we couldn't park first come first serve basis. Booked in and there was a parking space we asked about it the person had extended their stay we were told. This was not correct as a mini arrived later in evening and stayed the night another person came on Sunday and parked until Monday then left we could have parked the whole of our stay. Face didn't fit. We were told at 11.30am we couldn't book in come back at 3. Receptionist...we felt abrupt towards us. We heard a couple booking in on Sunday early in morning and told to come back at 12 no problem at all they were told by receptionist being accommodating to them. We felt our whole stay the receptionist didn't accommodate us or made excuses for our requests. Breakfast was very poor we only had breakfast on Sunday morning we ate out most of the time. Others complained. We couldn't eat at restaurant as coach party in but we could bring in take away. Room needs attention.

Was just for a night stay in the area hotel was fine very friendly staff hotel needs a little TLC but for the price point for the night and location I can’t moan

The staff were incredibly kind. The location is perfect - Tolcarn Beach is basically on their door step and is walkable to Porth Beach and Fistral Beach. The bus stops are a very short walk from the hotel and there are numerous stores in the area. I would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyable stay, staff were friendly and welcoming. Comfortable stay for a weekend in Newquay. Location is good, all walkable for Newquay town or to porth.

Great little hotel. Ideal for a short trip to NewQuay. Bus from airport right on door step and a short walk to the town. There is a stunning beach right accross the road.

To start with , the breakfast is a little pricey The first night, the fire alarms went off 4 times throughout the night. With no apologies for a complete non sleeping eight hours, The building is decaying away, Full gutters, cracking walls, damp The staff on the other hand ( reception) Brilliant. Helpful, polite, nice

The welcome we received from Michaela was phenomenal, she is absolutely the best receptionist ever, couldn't do enough for us and made us instantly feel at home. Andrew who works in the restaurant at breakfast and the bar on a night is an absolute gem of a man and like Michaela, is a credit to the hotel. Our room was clean and the shower was great, yes, the room does need painting and the carpet could do with replacing bit for the time we were in there, it was fine. Breakfast was nice but the toaster needs instructions to use properly 😂. Parking is first come first served and it is very limited so ideally book that beforehand, location is fantastic as it's directly opposite the beach with amazing views. The town centre is 10 mins walk away but there are plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops eithig 2 minutes away We would definitely book again if only to see Michaela and Andrew.
