The Victoria Hotel & Source Spa

I loved my stay at the Victoria and Source Spa hotel in Sidmouth. My first encounter with a member of staff was with the friendly and helpful Bellman who advised me on parking and helped me with my luggage from my car. Though i had arrived earlier than check-in time and my room wasn't ready, I was told I am welcome to use the hotel pool, spa and other facilities. The spa was very modern and i had a lovely couple of hours in there. Complimentary flip flops were provided as well as towels. The outdoor pool was a very nice temperature on a hot day and with the very comfirtable sun loungers I had a very pleasant time there enjoying the wonderful weather. My room (a single) was a very good size (could have had 2 people stay) and it was very clean. The bed was very comfortable with very nice bed linen and room decor. The bathroom was huge and the larye walk-in shower was fantastic. I also had a lovely view of the pool. I truly felt over the moon to stay here and hope to come back again soon. 10/10. The hotel has retaibed its sense of luxury and tradition in modern times and guest service is clearly a high priority.

This is a great and charming hotel. It looks a bit dated in the outside, but the facilities are great, specially the spa and food services. The town is small with great views of cliffs if you walk to the west. Lots of little shopping. The beach isn’t a plus as it’s rocky, but hotel has nice swimming options.

We love this hotel, used to stay here regularly when working in the area, however haven’t visited for many years as we now don’t live so far away however as part of a longer trip decided to revisit and was delighted the service and hospitality are as top notch as they were 30 years ago. Had a great feeling of grandeur and service which sadly is so lacking in many hotels. The room was miden with everything we needed, lovely comfy bed, nice bathroom with super over bath shower. We ate dinner in the White Room and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the local wine from the extensive wine list. Parking was easy which is important in Sidmouth. Great stop over and I’m sure we’ll be back again very soon for a overnight escape.

The friendliness of the staff in reception and their willingness to fulfill my request for a fridge, is exceptional. The parking is inadequate.

The staff at the Victoria are friendly and helpful especially Maria in the spa. The spa was new and very relaxing with great facilities. Dinner was delicious and we loved the live pianist. We will return!

The staff were all so friendly and helpful and respectful. One member of staff stood out which was Aiden but they were all nice. Used the spa and had couple of treatments. Again the lady, cant remember her name, was so helpful.

A beautiful hotel with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The spa was really tastefully done, as were the rooms. It was also lovely to be just a couple of minutes walk from the beach, shops restaurants etc.

First, I'll start by saying, I have NO ISSUES spending money...however; my concerns about the quality of the said goods/services I am paying for, must fit a certain standard. Victoria Hotel & Source Spa is NOT a place of quality worth consumers funds. I am against "home-stays" in the South of England as things are basically subpar and out of date, however this particular weekend, it was the closest to meet up with friends for a "relaxing" weekend. This hotel was chosen because it's rated 4 stars. This is false advertising. It could be, however, falls extremely short to about a 2.7 and the only reason it could be on the verge of a 3 is because if you like the beach, it's across the street. The rooms are small, outdated, dingy, needing a ton of paint, new carpets and probably see about getting doors to actually fit the frames so you can't play a game of Iimbo! The audacity of the dress code requirements for dining and eating food that is drier than choking on cinnamon and only seasoned with Desperation and Regret is laughable. Literally... a tie to choke harder on dehydrated lamb I guess. Not to mention, service was slow and the 2 nights before check in , we were called and told our spa day was cancelled and if we'd like to reschedule? Darling, that would have been the only saving grace for that building had we experienced but I'm confident in the statement that: Unless you're pushing 105 years old, deaf, blind and taste buds of racoon, you will be depressed.

The hotel is excellent BUT the small new rooms facing south on the third floor (e.g. room 313) are no where near 4star rating. There is no air conditioning so that during sunny conditions the rooms become uncomfortably hot. A fridge or cooler box is not provided which adds to the discomfort. The bathroom is surprisingly devoid of adequate shelving to store the inevitable toilet accessories, the small bathroom cabinet being a poor substitute for this facility.

Rooms on the third floor are very hot (when sunny) with no air conditioning. Luckily we were moved to a cooler room. Apart from that a pleasant stay.

Could not see where the value was in this room over recent travelodge stays, too hot had to keep fan on all night, bedside cabinets obstructed access to bed, overall disappointment and not value for the money. Standard double

Quite superb. A free upgrade was the iceing on our delicious cake. My only, minor, observation is the lack of usb/apple sockets. Easily corrected by replacing existing 3-pin with multi sockets, and so helpful in this increasingly device-dependent world.

This was one of the best English hotels we have stayed at since the mid 1980’s Class everywhere Pity such a long drive from London

It’s a very old fashioned experience, you MUST wear a jacket and tie do eat in the main dining area, and no denim, even smart Denim!!! They need to get into the 21st century. The food and service is however excellent

Had a fab time at this hotel . Great food and good casino entertainment . The band entertainment started too late so we did not stay around for it . The outdoor pool needed a cover or some way of keeping leaves out of it . Beautiful flowers at hotel
