Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Smithfield - Selma I -95 by IHG

Only one ice machine for whole building, and It did not had ice, because machine was making ice. It was only 50% ready, I don't know how long i had to wait.

This property was very clean, and the rooms were nicely updated and very clean as well! The staff were friendly and the pool area was well-kept and clean. I do wish the indoor pool was heated, the water was cold. There is one ice machine on the main floor, it would have been nice to have one on each floor to make it more easily accessible. The breakfast was okay.

The AC was out in thw common areas so travel fr car to room was difficult. Stifling. The pool "was being cleaned" for the entire 4 day stay. The elevator is missing buttons, has buttons taped down so they'll work and made so many jerky movements ot seemed as if it was going to break. Would not recommend

The elevator was broken the whole time we were there. We are in our 70’s and we’re staying on the second floor. We had to change our room because the door would not shut. The manager tried to tell us that the safety hook would protect us . We changed rooms. The bathroom at the pool was in shambles with sink broken and laying in the floor which management seemed to be unaware . The night clerk was cordial but I have never seen a lady with that big a chaw of tobacco. It wasn’t boring !!!

Easy check in. Nice rooms. Kids loved the pool. Breakfast was great compared to most hotels and was very helpful as well as the front desk staff

I reserved this hotel, since there was a GYM there, but as it turned out, the air conditioner did not work there, it was 82 degrees in there, we asked the staff at the reception to help us fix the situation, to which they said they did not know how to fix it. as a result, we were very disappointed with this, since the GYM is one of their important advantages, which is why we chose this hotel to stay on the freeway and stretch a little.

They need new vending machines and an ice machine on each floor, the need to have an extra blanket in the room for the sofa bed. Breakfast was good I always stay at Holiday Inn express but this one just needs a renovations

Mens bathroom in lobby area had urine all over floor. Our rooms bathroon's tub/shower was dirty, hair and mold. To top it off. I got trapped in the elevator this morning for 40 minutes and the fire department had to be called to free me. Manager never even bothered to reach out or check on my well being.

The breakfast didn't start until 7. As a traveler we like to be back on the road by 7. The coffee was ready but no lights on to see it. Also boxes everywhere unable to use ice machine on our floor because boxes were blocking it. Receptionist was great, efficient and friendly.

The room is nice and clean and comfortable but doesn’t smell good. Running the ac at full blast helped. Our other complaint is that the pool is dirty and closed (gate chained). We had picked this property because it has an outdoor pool.

The room I had looked recently renovated and was very clean. The people at the desk were very nice and helpful.

We stayed there for one night in the middle of our road trip. The room is spacious and very clean. The breakfast is great. Free parking is very easy.

Clean rooms, quiet, two baby beds were provided. Good breakfast.

Bathroom has mold and not clean

The fridges in BOTH rooms we were sent to, didn’t work. The one had chicken juice holding in the bottom. The sheets looked like they were not changed from previous guest! Bed skirts looked like they were NEVER changed and bathroom tub looked like never been cleaned. STILL waiting to hear from manager!

Very clean property, friendly staff, and good location.

There was blood on the floor, what looked like blood stains on a bed skirt and roaches in the bathroom. Was brought to the attention of the desk and was told the management was made aware. Problem was not physically addressed, along with the room not being cleaned. Also breakfast the first day was cold.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the woman on duty, I believe her name is Christina. She seems pleasant. However, she lacks a professional appearance. Her dark blue shirt was either dirty or extremely stained. Later in in the evening I came to the front desk and she nor anyone else was there to answer my question. I waited and called out to see if anyone was there, perhaps in the back, and not helped. The elevator is in poor condition. The grates inside appear to be coming off. The green and red arrow lights were taped to hold them in place. The second floor elevator button did not have a cover on it. The hallway on the second floor did not have air conditioning . It was very hot and not healthy for an asthmatic. My room was dirty. The gold colored valance that covers the base of the beds were very dirty and stained up—both beds. The furniture was scratched. Material was hanging from the bottom of the blue upholstered chair. In the hallway they had patched up the carpet. Breakfast was frugal. The refrigerator was not well stocked. I had to ask for yogurt. I was given a cup of yogurt and two cups were placed in the refrigerator. The fruit was scarce and only one mini danish in the display case. The eggs looked watery and I wouldn’t eat them. Everything was uninviting . That place is a health hazard and stingy with breakfast. It may be a budget friendly hotel , but all people are entitled to better service and accommodations. Shameful!

Nice property. Room was great and we had lots of space. Surprisingly, we enjoyed the breakfast. Good variety and good tasting, especially the cinnamon rolls.

The staff was very professional and helpful. The breakfast was very good. Coffee was extremely good. We had a accessible room for my mother. The room was clean, except the electranic shade did not work. That gound that someone had cut the wire. The window shade could not be pulled down. So it was opened all night. Then at 530 the fire alarm went off. I had to walk my mother down 3 floors. She is not i good health. All for a false reason. And the were no lamps in the stting area, very dark area. They did give us a slight discount, thank you.

Extremely comfortable room and efficient check in.

We stayed overnight on our way back home from Disney. The bed felt like a dream and the breakfast was wonderful (actually better then the SC location. They had lots of cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate!) However, the parking lot was small and tight. Finding a spot was difficult and there was a street light that was broken and flashing. What really tanks my review is the paper thin walls! You can hear others TV's you can hear everyone's conversations. I could not believe a hotel was set up this way. So, as we were exhausted we had to listen to all of that. Our fan finally kicked in and drowned the noise out enough to sleep. For that reason we won't be staying here again. It's unfortunate because the bed and breakfast was good!

The only one thing made us uncomfortable was that next room guests made a loud noise. Because no sound proof, We heard all of voices through the wall. It was very annoying and we couldn't sleep well.

It was a good rate for 1 night. Definitely outdated rooms. Mine had no closet but was huge? It was weird.

Door latch would not click into the door frame. The deadbolt locked us in but would have liked it if the door hardware worked correctly. Breakfast was "okay" for a free breakfast, we decided to go elsewhere for breakfast.

The girl at the desk wasn’t overly friendly. She gave us the key to our room and when we went up there, it was already occupied. We went back down and she put us in another room, but never even spoke or said she was sorry. Not a big deal but a bit more friendliness would go a long way. The room and beds were nice, the water pressure was almost nonexistent though. Breakfast was OK I would probably not stay here again since there are other choices in the area.

We 4 people staying and only 2 bath towel provided. When called the desk, they asked to come down and take the towels. My son went down to front desk and came back, I found they gave him face wash towels seriously !!! When I called back again, the lady said they don't have bath towels. I explained her again that we are 4 people and how does she expect me to use 2 towels between 4? she said we don't have it. This was a terrific moment for me to hear from big brand like Holliday Inn that they seriously don't have bath towels ? I seriously got upset and asked them what kind of Hotel is this who don't have enough towels for customers. She then said, I will get it from different room, can you come down and take it. This pissed me off... I told, how many times do you want customer to come down to pick up the towels, can't you send somebody to the room. She said we don't have anyone to bring it to your room. So pathetic customer service by this Holiday Inn staff. I was really upset and hung up the phone. After like 5-8min some cleaning staff knocked the door and gave 4 bath towels. Finally !! Breakfast was another disaster, they had cereals but no milk, only one set of salt & pepper sprinkler, grab&go bags missing and pancake machine ran out of pancake mix. By the time the cook replaced pancake mix bag into the machine, we were done with our breakfast and almost walked out of that area. This Holiday Inn hotel seriously needs to focus on its hospitality and customer service.

The staff here are always polite and super helpful.

Worst check in ever! Front desk woman was so rude! They had canceled the reservation and there were no rooms for the night! I had to drive 2 hours back home and get up super early to drive 2 hours back to the area the next morning! I have NEVER had this issue in my life!

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and the hotel were clean, and the big king sized bed was quite comfy 😌!! Would 10/10 stay here again.

Hospitable and helpful. Hotel did a great job of hiring quality people. Clean and new. The quietest hotel i ever stayed at! Lovely!

I had two rooms they were both really nice! My issue was the tv in one room didn’t work. It looked as if someone snatched the cord out the back and we couldn’t watch it. The receptionist was no help and very nonchalant about the whole ordeal. She said she would send someone up, they never came. When asked about it she stated everyone left for the night. So no tv the entire stay in that room. The second room had no tv guide. I have kids under the age of five so with an outdated remote I tried my best to find cartoons. This made our stay a little difficult.

Check. In was easy, the front desk host ( she had her right arm in purple cast) went above and beyond helping make our stay great, she came to the room and fixed the TV, also provided plates and napkins for our take out dinner that the restaurant forgot! Don't remember her name but she was very personable and really made our stay great!!

Convenient location though its very difficult to find with all of the road construction. Rude night staff. Comfortable clean rooms with an excellent breakfast. Great value and location for travelers on I95. Need some hospitality training for front desk staff that's all.

Good place for an overnight stay when traveling off of I-95

Very clean, great location near I95, lots of food and shopping in the area.

My room was so comfortable and clean! AC worked great! The bed and pillows were so easy to fall asleep on. The hotel was quiet. Location was right beside movie cineplex and other restaurants with outlet shops a stone's throw away. Interstate a mile or so away as well. I didn't want to leave my room here. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place great breakfast- will look for in future

We only stayed here for about 12 hours to get some sleep on our way to Florida. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The water was hot and had great pressure. There were only two small things I disliked. There was an annoying audio notification on the TV that we couldn't get to go away. It would be on the right side of the screen then jump to the left. You could hit exit but it would come right back. The other thing is that the breakfast was sparse, like they didn't want to put out too much food, so it made me feel uncomfortable even taking anything because I didn't want to snatch what may be the last apple or the last muffin. Of course other people didn't mind piling plates high with food to take up to their rooms but I was hesitant. There were waffles and eggs and sausage, as well as cereal. There were only two containers of yogurt in the fridge which someone grabbed, there were maybe 5 mini muffins, some bread and bagels. If you're looking for a big breakfast, this isn't it. It seemed a bit penny pinching to me, especially because if I said we had 2 people in our room (we had 4), our rate would've been $20 cheaper for the exact same room.

Mattresses were stained. Coffee pot was missing a piece so it was unusable. TV had no guide channel to choose programs from. Food was almost all gone way before 9AM. It seems that they allow their employees to eat the breakfast food while hotel guests also eat.No hot water or tea available at breakfast. Food was not replenished. No one was there in the kitchen area. The woman on duty at the desk on Monday May 8th afternoon & evening was EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY almost to the point of being fresh. She never smiled & spoke as few words as possible in answer to any queries made.

Property is old & needs update. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Whole top of refrigerator was rusted?? Breakfast was poor. Tried some sausage links… very tough & dried out. Will cross it off list of places to stay at that exit. Seemed to have very few guests compared to others in same area.
