Applewood Hotel

Room was very small for the extra money i paid for a delux room. Workmanship of the modernisation was extremely poor. Shelf missing in bathroom and toilet role holder loose to name just a couple. The bar as advertised was none existent. It was just a counter in the room where breakfast was served. However, it served the purpose as the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of tea/coffee in the room. A mini fridge would have been nice.

On arrival checked in, told second floor then realised no lift ( 4 flights of stairs). Bed extremely uncomfortable, seems 2 single beds pushed together so could feel mattress seams in middle. Room clean though couple marks on bedding. On departure gentleman was on phone so didn’t say anything and just took room fob !!, would have been nice to end call and ask if we enjoyed our stay !!!. Didn’t order breakfast as seemed pricey so can’t comment. Bar closed at 9pm which was a shame.

I have stayed here quite a few times over the last 3 years. Always a great welcome, free parking and comfortable rooms. Venue is immaculately clean and this time I used the dining room to do some work, rather than in my room (which was 14). Room was a single bed room but enough space for 1-night stay. Ensuite is "cosy" but again good enough for a 1-night stay. The only let down was I asked for decaf tea/coffee when I made my booking and none was provided. TV in room was "app based" with no terrestrial channels, wifi was okay. Lots of places within walking distance to eat out / get takeaway.

Lovely setting for tea in the side garden. Huge TV in the lounge to watch Wimbleton. Beds were comfortable. We would stay there again.

The hotel was located about 10 to 15 minute walk from the beach in a quiet area. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was no lift for elderly patrons and we had my wife’s parents with us in their 80s. Small thing and for most people I’m sure it wouldn’t be an issue. Would recommend this hotel

Very nice B+B style of hotel. Close to restaurants, the town centre and beach.Great staff, very welcoming and helpful. Deluxe room was smallish, especially the bathroom, but had everything needed. Road noise was quite noticeable, even at night and early in the morning. Lovely garden area to sit in and enjoy an early evening drink (the bar isn’t open later in the evening). Great to have on-site parking and reasonable at £10 a night.

The room I was booked in was superb. Staff are polite. Location is convenient. Parking is safe and free

Very nice room, lovely bathroom, again , I was disappointed to find out they didn't do an evening meal despite being told by yourselves that they had a restaurant. They said they only did breakfast

Very happy with service, parking and the condition of the hotel. An area to improve would be the atmosphere. It was very quiet and would be better if the bar stayed open later than 9pm

We booked this hotel using my clubcard vouchers and seeing the loads of positive reviews of the place. We were excited to have the weekend away together and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed 😞 on arrival the staff member was lovely, sorted us out and we went to our room. The room straight away had a weird musty smell and it wasn't very clean, I went to use the toilet and noticed dried on poo up the back of the toilet. I felt sick so went to tell the lady. She was mortified bless her. She said she usually checks the rooms have been cleaned but hadn't checked this time. She apologised and said it was a shame as the manager had upgraded us to a bigger room (I had ordered a small double) she showed me two other rooms we could chose from, another big room or the one we initially booked. I checked the cleanliness of both rooms, neither were great, but the lady was so nice , I didn't want to keep on at her so we just went with the one we initially booked (smaller room). The room again was not clean and I felt so grubby being in it. We had no power with the cold tap, it was dribbling out and it was coming out warm and the shower had no power and stayed hot. It was just dirty and not exceptional cleanliness like the reviews all said :( things were rusted, mould in the grout, marks on the walls, limescale etc. the hotel said they provided luxury shampoo and conditioner but they felt like they were watered down and made my hair feel dry.

Great stay and would hugely recommend. We stayed in room 12 which was spacious. Liked that the front door was always locked to reception. Very clean. Staff were very attentive. The breakfast was just amazing, thank you and we shall be returning and recommending to others.

Hotel is very well looked after and is clean throughout. Good location as can be at the beach in 5 mins and the same for town centre.

Very welcoming host. Sign telling guest to be quiet in the evening. And it was very quiet. Almost clean except lime scale on the taps.

Very good location and free parking during the stay. Greeted by a nice lady who came out to the “reception area” and checked us in. The place has a nice decor and carpet but the bar was disappointing with nothing on tap and just drinks in a fridge and was only open until 8.30pm on a Saturday night. Our double room was small to say the least and the rooms are very close to each other (which did wake up us early this morning when someone knocked next door but sounded like they were knocking our door). As soon as we were in the room, (the door almost touches the bed when opened) we could smell paint. We asked if we could move rooms or get a refund as the fumes were affecting my wife and the nice lady from downstairs came up but said she couldn’t smell anything and that there were no rooms available and no refund would be issued. My wife and I spent the next 7 hours out in Bournemouth with the window wide open and the fan on full blast facing the window. Upon our return, the smell was less obvious so we could at least get some sleep. The bed wasn’t great, not bad but mattresses were springy and the pillows were awful. My wife brings her own pillow so she was smug. The bathroom was nicely done but again very small. We paid £130 for the night and it wasn’t good value I’m afraid. This morning, when we checked out, no one was in the “reception area” so we left our keys in a tray and left. Generally disappointing and feel misled by the photos on hotels.com.

The issue was that she initially told me I needed to bring my luggage down, but when I asked if I could leave it in the lobby, she said she was leaving and it would be a liability. Makes sense, but then she was telling me I should bring the luggage back upstairs. Ultimately she did place my luggage into my office and told me to notify the other staff onsite when I was ready to get it. But I just felt the interaction was unnecessary.

Modern, clean and best value for money in Bournemouth...Good good and drinks in nearby venues...

I have stayed here about 4 times now. This time I was in room 28, which had a double bed. Just enough room around the bed, the ensuite was small and you would have to shut the door to sit on the toilet, otherwise you would be observed from the bed on the toilet! Rail to hang clothes and other drawers to store clothes/items. No shelf in ensuite to put toiletries. TV good as well as wifi. There is lots of choice to eat out within 10-15 minute walk or closer. However there was no hot water in basin, and also on my previous visit there no hot water in the shower (in the room I was in). Maybe check this when you first get to the room. Free parking space available.

Tiny room, bed comfy, shower doors became detached on rail, main light in bedroom had blown, unable to open bathroom window. Bathroom rail fixed, though repair man was unable to fix main light, bed side lamp working. Tired towels. Staff very friendly, the garden lovely with excellent free parking. Fantastic location close to beach and city centre.

Staff and hotel were great. Only thing I can complain about was the shower wasn’t very strong

Friendly receptionist. Wrong room allocated, tried to fob me off with its got a bigger bathroom, ha you couldnt swing a cat in it and this was a family room! Place was clean but nothing superior standard about it. Well located for local amenities and beach

We had a truly wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Bournemouth. The family room we stayed in was exceptionally clean and comfortable—everything was just perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. What truly stood out for us, though, was the honesty and integrity of your staff. After we had checked out, we received a call letting us know that a very precious item—my wife’s engagement ring—had been found by the cleaning staff. We hadn’t even realized it was missing yet! Your team’s honesty in returning such a sentimental item meant so much to us, and we are deeply grateful. It’s rare to find such genuine care and fairness these days, and it really left a lasting impression. Please extend our heartfelt thanks to your team for their honesty and professionalism. The hotel was clean and tidy, and everything within walking distance. The staff was very helpful and understanding, help quickly resolve a payment issue that I made incorrectly.

Really awful experience with the customer service and the cupboard that had been turned into a ‘room’ which was the length of the bed with a small space to get in and out. The owner/ staff refused to refund despite the panic the tiny cupboard room caused, and demanded more money or I leave without refund. There should be laws because this shouldn’t be classed as room- it like an old cleaning cupboard with a small window has been turned into an opportunity to make money. Very uncaring staff / owner. Do not recommend. I had to leave and lost my money.

Great location for visiting Bournemouth

Lovely hotel with homely feel. Great breakfast and soft towels.10 mins walk to the beach, 15 min walk to town.. well located with parking on site. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel itself was really good, you’ll struggle to find a better package including price & that parking is included in the price (most other hotels wanted to add £10 per day for parking). Friendly staff, nice rooms and a good location for the beach/town. Only downside was the shower really wasn’t all that powerful but that’s the only niggle.

Great hotel in a good location

Arrived earlier than check in but was permitted to park our car there whilst we had a stroll to kill time. Short walk to the beach, downhill. Check in quick & room lovely, comfy bed & a great shower. Lobby area & garden all lovely too. A great base to explore Bournemouth & beyond. We travelled to Poole, studland, Swanage. A great place to paddle board at knoll beach & a fish & chips on a boat cruise from Poole harbour.

One night stop over after flying back into Bournemouth airport. Lovely hotel with free onsite parking. We were greeted warmly on arrival and room was spotless and had everything we could need. Also is convenient for the town the beach and restaurants

Very friendly service, easy check in and ample parking. Huge bed, all very clean and comfortable. The only aspect I’d prefer is to have a full cooked breakfast option. There is a light breakfast option only. There are a few cafes only minutes walk so we did that, but it would have been nice to eat at the hotel, especially as it has a lovely restaurant area. But we’ll def stay again when visiting the BIC.

Had a great time. Hotel clean and modern. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast very nice for £10. Overall price very reasonable. Free parking is a bonus.

The hotel was exactly as was advertised, great customer service, polite, informative, welcoming, and professional. The only gripe was the fact that I had to pay an additional amount upon arrival to park my vehicle in their car park, that should have been included in the price. The breakfast was an optional extra as well. This worked out to be £40 per day for a party of four, I think that was a bit expensive.

The property was conveniently located, and the room was clean and there was on-site parking. The hotel advertises an ‘award winning full English breakfast’. This was not provided. The pre-order breakfast comprised tea or coffee, cereals and the hot food comprised either scrambled or poached egg on toast or beans on toast. Not worth the £7.50 they were asking.

Only stayed overnight but would stay there again. Clean, comfortable & friendly. Bathroom a little small & shower a bit weak but very clean. Very good breakfast. No lift to Upper floors but not a problem fir us & good location for town centre
