OYO Eagle House Hotel, St Leonards Hastings

Parking was a little limited but we managed to snare an early good spot and did not use the car afterwards. Hastings-St Leonards is a quite charming place and is within walkable distance: downhill getting there but uphill on the way back. Maybe a 21 bus or others could be used by older persons. The room was of good size, bed comfortable, location good. Breakfast is extra but is of good value; staff friendly and helpful. Best dining area is about 1km down the road in the town. There is a Co-op on the way down. The only slight drawback for the property is there are lots of stairs as rooms are either up or down. But, all in all a pleasing experience.

Very nice and clean stay. Check in was very easy and was shown a detailed tour of the property. Small parking lot, but plenty of space around to find more parking. I would definitely stay here again!

Great location with on-site parking. Staff very helpful. Great value for money. We had dinner on site. We opted for a steak which was very tasty. Breakfast had everything that you would expect. If in the area again I would re-book.

It was a lovely quiet stay within walking distance of the gardens in St Leonard’s as well as Hastings and the old town. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

Nice hotel, friendly and efficient staff, breakfast and dinner nice, only minor complaint was it was a bit noisy during the night asuming this was due to people using the shared bathroom, we had an enduite which was large with an nice view over the garden.

Clean and tidy, friendly staff 3 floors no lift

2 cereal choice (avg) + cooked (gd) bkfast. Meals in lovely rm overlooking excellent, huge , peaceful garden. Personally found all the staff awesome but , whilst sat online in the lounge for a couple of hours before departing, also witnessed them bending over backwards to accommodate 2 separate groups with various issues. I think I had rm 29 (shared bthrm but has sink )- 2nd on left on 2nd flr. - large window seat with distant sea view . Neighbouring occupants seemed quiet sort of folk however at times could hear their voices through (presumably therefore , thin?) walls Excellent wifi. Free parking as described NB times it was full tended to coincide with when free street parking was also difficult. 5min walk to (10min back!) beach Paid £70/night mid Aug

Room wasn’t the best, shower had black mould in it, bedside Table was hanging off. Cups available for tea coffee were dirty. Mattress needed replacing. Towels were old. Pleasant check in. I had messaged about being gluten free before hand, but disappointingly no bread available for toast. It was okay just.

I’m glad we only stayed for one night. We were met by a lovely guy who showed us the facilities garden, bar and breakfast room. Very hospitable However when we walked upstairs to our room everything was extremely dated, carpet very dirty and smelt musty and old. When we got to our room, it was the same, smelt, no wonder the window was open when we arrived. The carpet was filthy and the bathroom well, it also smelt the Lino wasn’t even fitted or on the floor properly there was a big bubble in the middle. The shower was a complete waste of space, hardly any water came out and when it did it went from cold to absolutely scorching, then very quickly went cold. Wasn’t able to have a shower so washed in the sink The bed was comfortable but due to how dirty everything else was we were very uncomfortable sleeping in it so slept on top of the bed We was wary about staying for breakfast but took the plunge, it was good, hot and edible

Hotel fine for a couple of nights, clean and tidy. Someone had killed a spider and left the blood on the wall of the bedroom, body left below.

We stayed in a family room it was spotlessly clean, very spacious. The main room had en suite. The smallest bedroom had a bunk bed. The staff were very pleasant. I'll highly recommend to my friends when visiting Hastings.

The entrance is lovely, as is the bar area. The restaurant would make you go wow and the garden looks good. The receptionist and waitress very polite and helpful. Sadly, these are the highlights. Our room, whilst clean, had mould all round the windows. The bathroom window had no curtain, leading to an incident in the night of a large shape banging again the window that made me glad to be sitting on the toilet. The kettle didn't work, which made the complimentary tea and coffee pointless. No plug in the sink. Paperthin walls that left us in no doubt as to the couple next door's activities. Furniture felt very student accommodation and like a cheaper Ikea set. A pile of bags of dirty laundry that stayed at the bottom of the stairs for the 2 days we were there put the seal on our feelings about it all.

Friendly staff, good breakfast. Quiet. Room was ok, carpet was slightly old and had stains, but the bathroom was a bit grim, had mould spots which could have been easily removed…

It is veey difficult to recommend this place to others. Not sure if it is a hostel or hotel? Appalled to see dirty bags of laundry in the corridor to our room left for 2 days. Can provide photo evidence of this. Bathroom did not feel hygienic enough. Awful smell when loo flushed. Such a shsme as the location is perfect

Property was clean and was a good price, would stay again.

Property was as expected but could do with a few areas of maintenance. Springs on one of the single beds had given up and gave an uncomfortable nights sleep and the shower tray would fill up and take ages to drain.

The two rooms we had were large, clean and generally comfortable, though a little stuffy and the sash windows in one room were faulty and would not stay open. The big disappointment was breakfast. We had stated when booking that we needed one vegetarian breakfast, and were told at check- in that there would be a meat-free option, but it turned out that the only cooked breakfast was a traditional English and the "meat-free" option was just "don't have the meat". That's simply not good enough for a promised "meat-free" option, and I have no confidence that the other fried items weren't cooked in the same fat as the bacon and sausages.

Enjoyed the stay , staff really good and friendly. Breakfast was good ,offered full cooked breakfast, cereal, yoghurt, juices and toast. Could not leave hungry, a lot of breakfast . Our room was comfortable, the bathroom was so big could not believe it with two sinks .

Unfortunately the hotel is dated and in need of a good refurbishment. The bed itself was uncomfortable and i sank to the base when i sat on it. (Weak mattress). The bathroom floor tiles were cracked and a couple were loose. The breakfast was an English breakfast but to my dismay the mushrooms were cooked with garlic. Your not given a choice of how you want your eggs cooked either. Not even asked if you had an allergy. The dinner menu has Philippine food available but with no explanation as to what it was. I had to used google to find out what it was. Room walls are thin and my partner could hear the neighbour snoring and everytime someone turned a tap on the it sounded like a waterfall in the room. Going back to breakfast time we had to ask 4 times for brown bread toast. The ingredients used at breakfast is the cheapest available. Due to this we will not be staying at this hotel again until it has a full refurbishment. Do not be fooled by the photos on the hotel website. Reception staff member was pleasant to us and did give us an extra 4 milk portions(not generous). Also we required extra pillows as your only supplied with 1 each in the room.

We stayed in room 7 ,very noisy,could hear other guests ,walk,talk,snore and use bathroom Floor sticky ,bathroom dirty ( did not shower due to shower condition ) deck from room disgusting .breakfast was low standard

The property is nice and its in a quiet area, but there were a few hiccups. 1.... we arrived at 1pm to be told its 2pm check (we already knew the check in time) for us to be checked in early (1 hour) It'll cost £25. 2.... Breakfast now isnt free and its £7.99 with a certain time slot instead of anytime. 3.... The receptionist at midnight was really noisy and prevented me sleeping until early hours. Its a cheap hotel and worth the stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful with one exception, when I went for breakfast I had to ask if the server was going to take my order, as she had taken the two tables that came in after me and was about to go back to the kitchen. The only downside was the shower, I was in room 6 and didn't want to use the shower as it was in quite a bad condition and didn't look very clean.

Choosing the OYO Eagle Hotel on Hastings was a good choice. The ratings were good, the per night pricing was right for us & the images was a good advert for a good hotel. We arrived on time, were greeted warmly & the check-,in was smooth & quick. Our room was nicely placed facing east overlooking the garden. The room was clean, fresh with neat & tidy bedding, towels & bathroom. The front door is card operated, the front desk open until 11pm. The breakfast were good withbcreal, yoghurt & cooked breakfast combinations with tea, coffee & juices. All the staff were excellent & very helpful. Informative & professional. We had one evening meal with steak, lamb shank & vegan choices. Everything was very well cooked, hot & the service very good. A few pointers, some attention to detail is needed. The shower tap-combo wasn't operational, the bath was fine. A ceiling light had flakey paint around it & the shower door drip trim was split... There is ongoing work at low level being planned but this hotel is ideal for couples that wish to visit Hastings at leisure. It's well placed to the town centre & only a good 5 minutes walk to the promenade. For us, we enjoyed the stay, the good was lovely, the staff professional & the room was what we expected. We would recommend the Eagle Hotel as it's nice hotel & a good base to enjoy the Hastings area.

Where to start upon arrival I went to the desk the lady said she had trouble finding me on the system which I thought was odd because I had proof that I booked through Expedia and anyway... She got the manager over he also said that I'm not on the system and that they are fully booked and said that Expedia failed to inform them of my booking...and tried to turn me away even though I'd paid for the night. He didn't seem to care. He tried to turn me away from the hotel and I said look if you turn me away I'm going to be on the street tonight because all my money has gone on this hotel room. So what did he do he put me in a dirty spare room I couldn't use the bathroom that was attached because it had crap in there that he couldn't be bothered to move.it .. on top of that I had a dirty bed with pubic hairs in it. He just didn't seem to care one bit that he downgraded me even though I paid the same as everyone else I think it's absolutely terrible service and I can see that he's done this to other people. It shouldn't be allowed. When I returned home I tried to get a refund from both the hotel and Expedia I won't be using either service ever again. I never got my refund and nobody admitted to being at fault. I paid £70 for one night to be told that I couldn't stay there and when I basically begged he put me in a dirty room. You tell me if that's worth £70!

Clean room (23) on 2nd floor. Hotel doesn’t have a lift. The shower unfortunately was dire, trickle of water coming out so needs repair or replacing. Staff were great and attentive. Convenient location with about 5 mins walk to see front.

Conveniently situated a short walk from the station after a long journey, the cacophony of interior design features was strangely welcoming and the beautiful view over the lawn from the bedroom was a joy to wake up to. The staff were helpful and friendly, helping us with recommendations and taxi bookings. Would definitely last minute stay again!

Very noisy with lots of doors slamming all the time and no consideration from other guests about noise. Beds really uncomfortable (but that’s our preference). Breakfast timings are ridiculous with only 2 people allowed every half hour.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my recent stay at the Oyo Hotel in Hastings, booked under itinerary number 72064306829366. I am extremely disappointed with the condition of the hotel and the service provided, and I believe it reflects poorly on Hotels.com to represent such a property. Here are the key issues we experienced during our stay: 1. Non-functioning Shower: The shower did not work properly, making it extremely difficult to maintain basic hygiene during our stay. 2. No Ventilation in the Bathroom: The extractor fan in the bathroom was broken, and there was no window or other form of ventilation. For a family of three, this was particularly unhygienic and uncomfortable. 3. Misleading Breakfast Information: A major reason for booking this hotel was the promise of included breakfast. However, we were told that we needed to schedule breakfast appointments in advance. This made it impossible to enjoy breakfast without rearranging our entire day to suit the hotel’s schedule. As a result, we were unable to have breakfast at all. 4. All the sewage water from the building went down on the side of our room and we had to endure the smell every time. Because the room had no air conditioning and no ventilation for the bathroom so we had no choice but to open the windows. 5. Lack of Basic Amenities: The room lacked basic features such as a fridge and a telephone. Any time we needed assistance, we had to physically walk down the stairs to speak to recep

Staff were excellent in all areas. Great dinner in the evening, but unfortunately breakfast was poor as food had not been freshly cooked as was only warm.
