Fantastic place to stay. The hotel grounds were absolutely amazing with the best views. You can see and fell the history. The hotel is open to explore and has multilingual signs to explain the history. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Parking lot outside was huge so very easy to park and secure. The hotel restaurant was delicious with good options. Breakfast was also perfect. Transportation is a bit scarce, however the bus outside the property was easy, also can walk to the village if you prefer a stroll, about 2km downhill. The return walk was challenging uphill. Would highly recommend. Will stay here again.

This is an amazing hotel in an old monastery. We loved wandering around the old parts of the building including the chapel and cloister. The pool is a relaxing place to hang out and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The dining hall is beautiful and the food excellent.

We crashed at the Pousada Mosteiro de Guimaraes mid-afternoon after a morning exploring Guimaraes. We were almost at the end of our two-plus week trek. We were ready for down time. We spent a lovely afternoon walking the grounds, swimming in the beautiful pool [allowed though the pool wasn't yet officially open], having drinks on the terrace, and having dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was a delight.

Too far from the beautiful sites of historic Guimaraes, not convenient at all. Very difficult to access the hotel due to narrow twisty dangerous roads, which are even worse at night. (Guess it would be fine if you plan to only stay at the hotel and not go into Guimaraes historic center)- It would be great if the hotel had a shuttle to and from the historic city center. There are lots of stairs, difficult for those with a mobility challenge. Snack bar at pool was not open when it was scheduled to be open. Surrounding grounds were beautiful. Parking was plentiful and easy.

Beeindruckendes altes Gebäude (Kloster), harmonisch zum Hotel umgestaltet. Sehr schöner Pool neben dem Klostergarten ( öffnet leider erst 10.30) Frühstück gut, Personal sehr freundlich.

Séjour fantastique dans le cadre majestueux d'un monument historique. Nous avions choisi une chambre supérieure. De belles prestations et un bel espace. Dans les plus à rajouter, je pense que l'ajout à minima d'une bouilloire serait à envisager. Parking exterieur possible. La piscine extérieure est sublime. Les animaux sont admis avec supplément et bénéficient d'un cadeau. Le petit déjeuner était bien fourni et de très bonne qualité. Nous avons également diné au restaurant de l'hôtel une jolie expérience avec des mets de qualité et bien servis. Je recommande ce très bel hôtel à la hauteur de ses 5 etoiles.

We loved the history and uniqueness of this property. It is very clean and well maintained. We were looking forward to the outdoor patios and views of the city, but it rained the whole time we were there. So we grabbed an umbrella and walked the adjoining gardens, they were beautiful. It is a quiet, relaxing place and was less then 10 minutes drive to downtown.

The property was breathtaking- i could not believe how huge this former Monastery was, and how greatly it was renovated. Our room was very clean, staff was extremely friendly. One caviat is that call them in advance to get directions as google maps seems to take you around and round through very narrow streets up the hill for no reason, and just when you think you have arrived, google maps tells you to make a u-turn😁

This 12th century monastery is one of the most beautiful and unique places we have ever stayed and it was truly a highlight of our recent trip to northern Portugal. The hotel is steeped in history and we enjoyed just wondering through the various rooms, the peaceful cloister, the immaculate grounds, and the church. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The location is a short, inexpensive taxi ride from the town's center or you can walk. The only thing that could use some slight improvement is the breakfast.

A unique and memorable experience to stay in such a beautiful and historic building. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was fantastic. I don’t know about the dinner. We had an amazing dinner in Guimaraes - a 20 min walk downhill and a 3.50 euro Uber back. Our room was large, clean and with excellent WiFi. I like how well they combined old history with modern amenities. Recommend the hotel for anyone who wants to experience something a bit different.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed! Very beautiful, convenient, friendly staff! The hotel building is a museum, amazing views! Great swimming pool! I loved everything about it. The only minor comment is we didn’t have a tea and coffee maker in our room. Everything else was wonderful!

First time at a Pousada, though have stayed in Paradores in Spain. This is a very comfortable sprawling historic hotel with absolutely top-notch and genuinely friendly service, especially at meal times. Excellent food and lots of space inside the room and in common areas. The view over the city is lovely. Visitors need to know that it’s a pretty quick trip to the town and surrounding areas, but by no means a short walk. That makes this Pousada feel like a welcome getaway.

We loved the history and uniqueness of this property. It is very clean and well maintained. We were looking forward to the outdoor patios and views of the city, but it rained the whole time we were there. So we grabbed an umbrella and walked the adjoining gardens, they were beautiful. It is a quiet, relaxing place and was less then 10 minutes drive to downtown.

Too far from the beautiful sites of historic Guimaraes, not convenient at all. Very difficult to access the hotel due to narrow twisty dangerous roads, which are even worse at night. (Guess it would be fine if you plan to only stay at the hotel and not go into Guimaraes historic center)- It would be great if the hotel had a shuttle to and from the historic city center. There are lots of stairs, difficult for those with a mobility challenge. Snack bar at pool was not open when it was scheduled to be open. Surrounding grounds were beautiful. Parking was plentiful and easy.

This is an amazing hotel in an old monastery. We loved wandering around the old parts of the building including the chapel and cloister. The pool is a relaxing place to hang out and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The dining hall is beautiful and the food excellent.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. The location is incredible and is a 15 minute walk into town. The service from every single member of staff has been wonderful and the young woman, Beatrix, on Reception deserves a special mention for her kindness and hospitality. The breakfast is wonderful, the swimming pool fantastic and the stunning architecture and decor 2nd to none. Thank you for a wonderful day and I very much hope to return and stay again
