when we looked at this place we weren't sure. so here is a straight up review. no bugs, could use new pillows. beds comfy. I just came here to crash. you have a front waiting room area, so thats an added safety measure. people said "bad neighborhood". Not so bad. there is a wawa nearby and starbucks. we walked from the ferry upon arrival during the day. lots of spots in portsmouth to dine and drink. everyone who works here is friendly and very helpful. only encountered one strange guy on the premises who was very drunk on our second night, and he was leaving as we arrived. quiet. could use an upgrade or remodel since the fan in bathroom was loud. there is dispenser soap, shampoo and lotions. no swimming pool. just a straight up place to crash here.

Roaches in the bathroom, cigarette burns on bedding, broken furniture, and a cracked door. Only two towels for four guest and I was questioned when I asked for more. Cannot ask for a separate hair towel. They’ll only give you four towels if you have four people. No toiletries, all soap dispensers were empty. Vending machines barely functioning and empty.

Property is still in good condition after renovations a few years' ago, staff is quite friendly and helpful. Location was very acceptable- only a half mile from bus and ferry stops into Norfolk etc, with numerous fast food outlets and a large convenience store within a short walking distance. Hotel is generally quiet as is the neighborhood. Lots of incredible historic homes and churches nearby to admire. Room had all the items I needed to feel at home- microwave and mini-fridge.

I liked the microwave and refrigerator, being in the room. I liked the size of the TV. I did not like not having enough towels in the room for me and my 3 guests. I did not like the soap dispenser in the shower being empty and hard to dispense. The room was a bit small, but doable. I love having free coffee in the front, but there was no non-sweetener, just regular sugar. there also were no lids for the coffee cups. Checkin/out was easy.

The room was very basic but clean and had what you would excpect microwave, fridge, large screen tv. Its close to a busy intersection so kinda noisy at times. Very close to alot of places to eat and a Wawa about 2 blocks away. Staff were very friendly. Would stay again.

The bath tub was filthy looking. There was hair in the small hole( overflow opening) in the sink. The soap and shampoo dispensers were not full and seemed cheap. Therefore, you had to be careful you wouldn’t break it or knock it off the wall. There was free coffee but no continental breakfast. The staff were pleasant and accommodating as possible. Not enough towels or washcloths despite my room being listed for 3 persons.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful, Jay and Avi were very friendly which made our stay a pleasant one. The pet policy at Red roof inn is awesome when you have more than one pet. We definitely had a pleasant experience.

I enjoy staying here when I Ubrr late nights. the staff is always so nice and professional and they always ext nd a warm welcome when you come in. the rooms are clean and its pet friendly as well. This hotel is near everything, including food, drink, clubs and shopping. Awesome❤️

It was not bad at all. The staff were friendly and courteous. The room was clean. It was a bit noisy from the cars racing by but I suppose that will be as it is next to a busy road. I would have preferred a coffee station inside the room but that is neither here or there. It served its purpose as we just slept there.

The London Boulevard area of Portsmouth Va. is run down and crime ridden. The Red Roof Inn property I stayed at was shabby in appearance. The first and second floor smelled like bug spray. I killed two roaches in my second floor hotel room. There were stains and cigarette burn holes in my bedding. The carpeting in the hallways were worn and dirty. I was solicited by prostitutes in the elevator and in the parking lot and the police sirens kept me awake at night.

It was very very dirty place. Roaches insects were everywhere in the room. Rooms were stinking like rotten eggs. I would not recommend anyone to book this property even with free of cost. Generally, i don’t write reviews but this place was horrible.

The hotel has a 'newly refurbished' sign outside, however this did not seem to be the case. We asked to move rooms three times due to hairs all over the bathroom, dirty walls and strong smoke/urine smells. Luckily, the lady working on the front desk was extremely helpful and we eventually settled on a room. Book with caution.

Dirty moldy fridge, couldn’t book an extra night without double the rate for that night, heater rattled all night and had a smell, wifi was turned off , tv was inoperable, hair everywhere, vomit stains on the back of the door, dirty towels, and dirty pillows.

The only thing that I would recommend is that guests on the 2nd floor be reminded that there are people below them. Every night we could hear people walking, running and jumping around in the room above us until well after midnight. We could also hear the full telephone conversation of the man in the room next to us because he was so loud. Other than that the stay was great

We didn't expect a "luxury" stay given the price and location. To their credit, the room was clean but in serious need of an upgrade/renovation. The vinyl floors were buckled, the bed linens appeared to be clean but were stained in places, there was what appeared to be some sort of overspray on the cabinetry/drawers. The bathroom was clean but there was very little hand soap in the dispenser. What little interaction we had with staff was pleasant, check in and check out was fine. As stated, we weren't expecting luxury accommodations, just a simple overnight stay at a reasonable price. This property met that criteria although with some rough edges. Based on our experience, we're not likely to use this motel again.

Bedframe was broken mattress itself was uncomfortable. TV didn’t work light above the bed did not work bathtub drain was very slow to drain commode had to be flush multiple times for one single use. Stay was OK for just a night but not good enough for a vacation or a trip. Asked service attendant to help come fix TV, and he said he would be there shortly to do so, and he never came to assist would not really recommend this for anybody

I no sooner arrived and a couple of hours later I had to leave for a family emergency. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and refunded my account for the unused day without a problem. I have stayed at the Hampton in VA Beach. They had horrible customer service. I will be staying with you guys.

I booked this hotel for my family and I right down the block from a family function we were attending to avoid drinking and driving. Once checked in, my Sisters helped us bring our things upstairs to avoid double trips and before we entered the room, the room phone was ringing. The front desk clerk told us we had to leave because 5 people were in the room. I tried to explain the additional 2 people with us were just helping bring our things upstairs and leaving but he wouldn’t hear it. The police were eventually called because we didn't feel it was fair that we were trying to be responsible by not drinking and driving and now we either wing it and drive home, or sleep in a parking lot until we were good to drive because all nearby hotels were completely booked for the night. Ultimately, they didn't want us on the property and the police couldn't do anything about it so we were forced to stay in the car on the McDonalds parking lot next door for a few hours until it was safe for us to drive home. WORSE EXPERIENCE I’VE BEEN THROUGH AT A HOTEL IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!

The staff was terrible to deal with. After many calls and communication with them they still tried to cancel our reservation. When we finally got that figured out we went to our room and it just kept getting worse. The smoke detector missing but the wires hanging out of the ceiling for it. Stains all over the sheets and blankets. Burns in the bathroom soap dispensers. Tried to use the microwave and the food got stuck in it so we took the microwave to the front desk where we were told to give him 10 minutes he will get it out. Oh, and the toilet paper that was left for us to use from the people prior. We are frequent flyers of Red Roof but that came to an abrupt end after this nightmare of a weekend.

Well this establishment only cares about getting money I get it but they have no care for it’s Patrons, Inwas visiting in Va Beach and I ran into a Beautiful young girl who needed a place to stay a few nights so Being a good citizen I paid for a room booked on line and Paid 50.00 in the Payment. The Woman at the front desk would not allow this young girl in her hotel because she didn’t have 50 mind you which was paid in the total according to a representative at Hotels.com which turned out to be a fraud number, the Rude attendant was adamant about 50.00 and never mind the safety of A young girl being on the streets, I tried talking to her she refused and turned around and said cancel your stay and Called and spoke to a legitimate Rep and they literally keep my money and lies and said I’d get a refund Hotels. Com never settled this dispute and did not refund my Money for that Cancellation I didn’t make
