This hotel was an incredible experience. We got to know the owner/manager very well, he’s a very kind man! The hotel staff was lovely and fun! The breakfast buffet was wonderful and the dinner food fantastic. My room was #40 and I loved it and my Terrace, so charming. Amenities were terrific too! One suggestion only: perhaps there could be more hot tubs available. There are too few for the amount of rooms and we came during a busy summer season. We had to wait for people to leave the one by me was often used. Thank you for a wonderful stay!! I will be back.

Pricey but a nice hotel - restaurant is excellent and the hot tubs and in room tubs with water jets were a nice treat. They do an all night Northern Lights wake-up call-very good option over staying up and waiting. The included breakfast had a menu and/or buffet option- so omelette plus the buffet. Good splurge hotel.

Hotel staff was amazing. The hotel food was so so good. We loved the aurora wake up calls and they would also announce it during dinner in the dining room. I wouldn't hesitate go back, after long days heoking and exploring hotel ranga felt like coming home for a cozy night

Beautiful location, the staff was extremely attentive and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. We had dinner at their restaurant and it was one of our top meals in Iceland. We also ordered a lunch box for the following day and it was amazing, saved us time and could go straight to our hikes. Highly recommended!

Truly exceptional service from reception staff. Beautiful, rustic property. We had a cloudy night, but would have been the perfect spot to view the Northern Lights had they been visible. We had a family suite and were surprised to learn all the items in the mini bar were included with the stay. Would definitely return.

This hotel was fantastic. We loved it. Food was wonderful and they were very accommodating with our food allergies and vegetarianism. The owner is lovely too. Only complaint is that even with a fan the rooms are very warm, but that seems to be the case in all the hotels here.

Hotel Ranga is advertised as a luxury property It is not Luxory property It is an old and tired property that is expensive and is terrible nreed of am update. There rooms are hot and stuffy with no screens and windows that can’t be opened due to the fly and midge problem. You have to dangerously climb into a jacuzzi to shower and there are no shower curtains. Their linens are standard cheap hotel linens. I do have one compliment we had a good dinner. I wouldn’t stay expecting anything close to luxury

Great hotel. Was surprised the hotel couldn’t fit us into the dining room for dinner. Restaurant didn’t open until 6:30pm but they said they were booked up. Then a larger party was able to move to that time. Was very odd and left a bad taste in the service area. Ended up eating in the bar.

Room was spacious but bathroom was very small and not very smart. Food in restaurant was okay nothing special. Service was very good and friendly. Prices are in ISK but at check out you are shown a bill in Euros! I asked to see the bills in both currencies and noticed that we had paid full price for our happy hour drinks and we had been charged 500 Euro too much for the room. When this was finally remedied there was no apology just a “well spotted” . I thought this hotel was expensive for what it offered. We booked it in the hope of seeing the Northern lights, unfortunately it rained the whole time we were there. Would I stay here again? Probably not as there are better alternatives in the middle of nowhere. eg. Torfhus retreat where we had spent a couple of nights earlier on in our trip.

The staff at Hotel Ranga are extremely accommodating, helpful and friendly. I visited on a family trip and the hotel staff were responsive and helped to book all our excursions through the hotel in Iceland. We also had last minute changes to our excursions and the staff helped my family make changes to our itinerary very last minute.

Stayed two nights a the Hotel Ranga and so glad that my wife and I added the extra day. The restaurant was all that we expected and more and a great place to spend a cold windy night in the South. It’s also only an hour or so from Reykjavik so well worth the drive for the high quality authentic Icelandic cuisine. Rooms are very comfortable and many have access to one of two outdoor hot tubs. Location also very convenient to main attractions.

Hótel ranga seems to be incredible for the northern lights but we stayed 2 nights and didn’t see them at all due to cloud cover. I think if you don’t see the northern lights then the hotel is ok but if the clouds are there, it loses all its USPs as we didn’t even get to go to the observatory. Feels like we spent so much on this hotel and didn’t really get to enjoy it as a result of the northern lights not appearing :( hot tubs were nice, hotel could create more of a community vibe eg hosting a kareoke night or making the guests interact more in organised events. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so you kind of want there to be more on offer to do activities wise :) snowmobiling - which we booked through hotel - was cool and don’t regret it but it was absolutely extortionate and probably wouldn’t do it again in Iceland as a result
