Hampton Inn & Suites New Haven - South - West Haven

Great stay but 1st level is a bit noisy. The breakfast was great however with a lot of guests they ran out of many things that were not replaced and the hot portions of the meals were still frozen. The room was fully renovated and comfortable. They can improve their service. We were also choked about the 30$ fees for overnight parking, the hotel is absolutely not downtown it’s injustified in my sense.

My stay was okay. I booked because my family wanted to use the pool and found out the pool was not open, very disappointing. It would be nice to make a note of that upon reserving the room.

The staff were friendly and easy to engage. We were able to leave our bags in a "holding" area while we toured the town waiting for our departure. The lounge area was a great option to hang out in as opposed to sitting in your room. Breakfast provided enough options. The gym was clean and machines were in good working order. Pool was out of service, but it didn't bother us as we weren't going to use it. The room was simple and clean. Low water pressure in the shower, but it got hot so no complaints.

Would not be my first choice. All floors were sticky icky. Breakfast was marginal. We chose this Hampton because of pool, which was closed. Breakfast which was not fresh. Waffles batter could’ve cut with a knife. No oatmeal. Old apples. Very very sad.

Aside from the moldy toast and cold coffee at breakfast, the hotel, room, and fitness facilities were decent for the price.

Convenient location to UNH, Fairly clean,Texas Roadhouse next door, breakfast available, plenty of parking available are positives. Shade not working in room, TV was jumpy, extra fee for parking, no water refill stations, extreme price increase during college parent weekend are some disadvantages.

Everything was out of order - one of elevators wasn’t working when we got there, 2 floors ice machines were broken, and the pool was closed. It also wasn’t clean - dirty bathroom before we even used it. There was rain leaking in through the back entrance door and pooling on the floor. Just overall the upkeep of the building was poor.

Overall hotel was nice and good condition. Staff was nice. I was disappointed that the market place in hotel was completely empty! All they had were sodas! No vending machines either! And the breakfast was basic. They ran out of certain foods at breakfast!

The king room wasn’t ready clean. There were stains in the carpet, shower had left over hair, and the bedding seemed rushed to be put on. The smell of the room caused me to leave. I believe the foul stench came from the unclean carpet. I would recommend choosing something else especially if you have children with you.

It wasn’t the cleanest , I’ve stayed here before but I guess it’s just normal wear and tear of the property. Just needs a deep cleaning

Very disappointed in my stay, I have stayed at this location many times as it’s convenient to visiting my family from out of state. One of the main reasons I stay is because it’s always been one of the nicest with a pool close by. The pool was out of service and has been for months according to the unpleasant man at the desk upon check in. The hotel only provides minimal towels, wash cloths, phones in rooms don’t work to call for more and hallways had visible mold in them with unmade repairs. Very disappointing, will not be back again.

Carpet and chairs dirty with leftover food. Blind broken and thermostat fell off the wall when I adjusted it. Bedding and pillows were stained. Had to wait 2 days for clean facecloth. Didn’t offer to service room until 4 days into stay. Stingy with toilet paper and lotions. Breakfast area /lounge very dirty chairs and floors. All public areas and elevators dirty with garbage.

Beds were comfortable. Lobby and outside parameters where not well kept. There was trash everywhere. Need to have someone looking at the in/outside 24 hours per day. Lobby floors were sticky. Asked for early check-in to attend a wedding in Hartford by 4pm as we were traveling from Out of town. Arrived at 10:00am and did not get in the first room until 1:30pm, despite me watching the early check-outs and cleaning staff available.

Carpet in hallways old and has a stuffy smell plus cigarettes smell. Room and linen was very clean.

Pool filter, not working, pool was dirty and we had booked it for 3 nights with kids expecting a pool. The kids did not want to swim because how dirty the pool was. Hotel was filty, we arrived on a Sunday you would expect that the hotel would be clean after the weekend, but when we left on Wednesday, floor has dirt and garbage from the 1st day we got there. Of all the Hamptons we have stayed in (at least 4) this was really of the chart dirty. Not in terrible shape, just not maintained at all. There was a milkshake spilled about 15 feet form the main entrance we almost steeped in on day one, when we left 4 days latter, it was still there, no one bothered to clean it up. No soap dispenser in the room bathroom, someone left with it and it was not replaced, thing were falling apart in the room, the plastic stip under the door, the fixtures in the bathroom, etc. How this made it to an 8+ on Hotels.com is unbelievable. It shopuld be a 6.5 tops.

Prompt service when the TV remote was missing in our room. Friendly front desk staff.

The rooms and beds were very comfortable.

The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were very worn and had hardly any substance. The hallway carpeting was dirty, looks like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a week or two.

This was my first time staying at this Hampton Inn and I really enjoyed my stay overall. I usually stay in the Hampton inn in Milford a few miles down 95, but I booked early and got a great price on this room and it looked much nicer! This hotel was much better overall, the only difference is the 11am check out time, but I asked for and was given a 12pm check out which was appreciated. I had room 422, it was clean, spacious, especially the bathroom, modern furnishings and design, and the bed was comfortable. I had no issues with the room and only slightly could hear road noise from nearby highway. Check in was very fast, a man with a beard was very friendly and efficient, checking me in, within a minute! I like how breakfast is until 10am DAILY! The only issue I had was breakfast. I went down about 45 minutes before it ended, the man restocking it questioned my friend about how many sausages (5) he took, as he doesn't like eggs, and potatoes were empty, which annoyed my friend. Staff was filling sausage when I was making my plate, and he literally pushed me away, jokingly saying I didn't see him fill it up to not take any. The breads were nearly empty, no pastries or muffins, potatoes were eventually refilled, but overall the breakfast was lacking. Coffee ran out, was filled, but when I checked out, the same staff said it was empty and he had to fill it, so no coffee for me when I left. He did get some frozen muffins for a lady who asked... Everything else was great!

close to highway, very large room, nice stay for work trip

Poor sound insulation- I could hear guests from other rooms till late night, in addition to the road noise outside the window. Older property. Have stayed in more updated Hampton Inn properties before. Had to ask for a blanket, tried to increase thermostat but didnt get much warmer. Good complimentary breakfast options.

Room was a good size, needed updating. Chips on edges of side tables, rug was in need of replacement. Bathroom was newer and clean. Staff was great! Breakfast, not so much.

Room was in great shape.Clean and spacious.Also quiet no issue getting in a nap and sleeping at night. Check in was quick and easy and person at desk very friendly.

Bed was unmade when we got there. Got new room, facing the highway. None of my family could sleep because of the noise.

The carpet was wet from the windows past the bed the refrigerator was broken there was mold under the shower chair and in the shower The blinds didn’t work.We asked for a new room but they didn’t have one to accommodate handicap

Overall, this hotel was very clean and comfortable, however, the night front desk staff was a little rude and the breakfast was a joke. The breakfast area was cluttered and the options were meager at best. Different food supplies were out. First morning, there was no coffee or syrup for waffles. The 2nd morning, the hot options were out. Last morning we decided to grab fast food for breakfast. Also, the local of the hotel right on next to the interstate made it difficult to sleep with the loud traffic on the interstate all night.

Amazing customer service. Upon check in and out, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great room rate and the room was very clean and inviting. Will definitely recommend and revisit.

I HAVE STAYED AT THIS LOCATION NUMEROUS TIMES AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN OUTSTANDING. GREAT STAFF AND SERVICE.

Toilet was clogged. There was only one guy working there and couldn’t leave the front desk. He gave me a plunger and said good luck.

The hotel is in a great, convenient location. There is only a skeleton crew looking after the hotel. Cleaning takes place every 2-3 days, the rooms smell like mold and dirty carpet. Ice machines are broken in a couple of floors, there is no room service. There was a gentleman at reception that should not be assigned to front desk duties, very bad spoken, long beard, and rude as hell. I asked for a bottle of water and he said this is only for the Hilton Honors people!! (Which I am). Told me if I needed water I should walk to Gas Station, shocking!!!

The place is clean but stuff wasn’t friendly at all. We arrived at 3:15pm and had to wait in the lobby until 5pm to get our room.

The male receptionist who greeted us when we came in was excellent. He was very welcoming and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable

Staff was great!

The building lost power, due to a downpower line. There was no communication from staff needed to walk down a dark stairwell, no emergency lighting on Sunday. Monday at 9:30 am there was no staff at the front desk to assist with checking out. Tried calling the front while standing at the front desk no one picked up. After several people lined up someone knock on the door behind the front desk we were told to wait, several minutes later someone did not comeout. Then someone stopped a staff member who was on thier way to check on the breakfast stations. He was not happy about being redirected but was able to check us out. I wanted a copy of my bill was told it would be emailed so far 30 minutes later nothing in my emails. I understand the power outage was out of the hotel's control, but as guests had issues during this stay it would have been nice to have staff around to answer questions at the front desk. Thank you

The hotel itself was clean and staff was nice but our car was broken into while parked within the hotel parking lot & personal belongings were stolen. We searched the premises for camera's, but there were none to be found. I advised the gentlemen at check-in what had happened and he said it happened the previous week as well to an employee. He asked for my name & number & that was that.

Prompt and friendly service; EZ on/off from I-95; close to New Haven. Good for the money. Pet friendly is a plus.

Great hotel but in a very bad area and ridiculously expensive at $386.00 for 1 night.

Close to UNH, nearby dining options, breakfast offered/included and parking onsite are huge pluses.

Close to restaurants and stores. Beach was 10 minutes away

The location was great as it was right off the highway and centrally located yo dining and shopping areas.

The property itself was very nice and was next to a steakhouse and across from a large Walmart. The area seemed to be popular with motorcycles and. Hot Rod vehicles on the Saturday night we stayed, making it hard to sleep. Don’t know how it would be during the week.

The breakfast was unpredictable, most of the times just plain eggs and hardly any bacon or sausage. Oatmeal setved on Sunday, but nothing on Saturday.besides that, it was ok with cereal options and the coffee was good.

I was only there for one night but the place was very clean and well staffed. The breakfast buffet could have been more robust but it had things I wanted to eat. The coffee was available all day and was good--this was a big plus!

The room was clean and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the hotel was easy to navigate. The breakfast was excellent with many choices. My son especially appreciated the waffles.

Although the hotel itself was quite satisfactory (clean, convenient, etc.), this hotel had the WORST BREAKFAST I have ever had at a hotel of this type! Plastic, rubbery waffles, powdered tasteless eggs, horrible sausage, etc., etc., etc!! On Sunday, all the juice s ran out, ALL OF THEM, and I had to go into the kitchen to ask them to add more. There were watery spills all over the countertops. No fruit, so the guy brought out two small containers of yogurt! The coffee was watery, and believe me, I could go on and on! I plan to write the corporate office, and I will NEVER stay at a Hampton Inn again!!
