Horrible stay. The heat in the rooms didn’t work properly. The pool was not heated. No pool towels available. Restaurant wasn’t open due to renovation. Kids were screaming all night and running up and down the hallways. There was trash everywhere. The trash bins were full. Was not able to call down to the front desk because there phone lines were cut. Management did nothing to help.

I stayed here on 1/25/25 and specifically selected this location because of the pool. My young girls were hoping to enjoy the inside pool during the winter. Unfortunately the pool temperature was way to cold to swim. Other guests were also complaining to the front desk workers about this. We were given the General Managers email and told to contact him. I emailed hoping for atleast a partial refund as the experience was completely waisted due to the pool conditions, and the manager responded saying there's nothing they can do. Very bad service and lost a customer in the future. Don't stay here if you're looking for a good pool experience.

Property was beautiful and we loved our room and the breakfast. Our only complaint was the pool, while not freezing it was definitely cold. Colder then you would expect, it kept the adults out but the kids went in and shivered the whole time.

Place was vey clean and staff was very friendly. The only thing was the pool was too cold for an indoor heated pool in the middle of a snow storm. Will be back. Amazing location and rooms were awesome. Plenty of room.

This hotel is currently going thru some much needed renovations. The 24 hour bar and food cafe was lacking in supplies, beverages and food choices. I am chalking it up to the renovations going on. Connor the manager was very helpful, energetic and went out of his way to accommodate us for services that were lacking and under renovations. He is a gem. We travel to this hotel 1-2 times a year and will be happy to see all the wonderful finished renovations next trip.

Pubic hair was left in the soap dish in the shower and on the frame that holds the shower gel and shampoo. Hair was also on the bathroom floor that didn't belong to me. Dog Hair was on the floor next to the rug.

The worst experience of my life. The bedding materials are so bad and filthy specially the comforter. I took the pics , wish I could attach them here . We send email to property manager as fornt desk person suggested with attached pics but there was no response from her. finally we talked to her, and her response was , oh these are downy comforters and I use the same at my home , and this is the feather that color like this … Horrible explanation, no apology

The room was dirty upon arrival. Hairs on pillows, dirt and stains on bedding. Safety bolt lock on door was hanging by screws. Shower barely worked. Family of 6 staying in the room and they stocked it with 3 bath towels. No extra roll of toilet paper in the room. Hotel front desk wasn’t regularly staffed. Just one individual that randomly popped up when guests would show up. Incredibly unprofessional. Overall very poor stay for paying $300 for the weekend. Do better, Hyatt.

Got our room, has tiny square couch pillows as bed pillows. Go to take a shower there's a giant clump of woman's hair stuck to the wall, so clearly the shower wasn't cleaned. The couch has what appear to be blood stains on it or aowm foreign red dye stain. Wish I wouldve read reviews before booking. Never again. Find someplace else.

Room was beautiful and spacious. Bed was comfortable. Lobby and dining area recently redone. Only negative was not enough staff in the morning. Young man working the front desk also was in the kitchen getting food for someone who was unable to get assistance earlier. I waited at the desk for 15 minutes and rang the bell multiple times before someone came to check me in - this was not the middle of the night either - it was around 7pm - there was a line after me. After driving five hours you just want to be able to check in quickly and get to your room. The room was fine but bright lights shine into your room all night and our shade was broken. It was a big room with a couch and that was very nice to have. There’s no where to fill a water bottle up though. It would be nice to have a water filling station or a water fountain or something - seems like a basic amenity to me.

I recently stayed one night at this Hyatt on my way to Detroit. The room itself was spacious, well laid-out, and had all the amenities I needed for a short stay. The front desk staff were friendly, which I appreciated. However, the noise level was a huge issue for me. The walls were so thin I could hear people talking next door, footsteps and movement from the room above, and even street noise from outside. The slamming of doors in the hallway was constant and very disruptive. On top of that, even though I was assured a late checkout, I was constantly disturbed by housekeeping knocking on my door in the morning, which defeated the purpose of getting that extended time to rest. Another slight disappointment was the limited selection in the hotel’s tuck shop. I was hoping for more basic items, such as juice or snacks, especially late at night. All they had were pretzels, energy drinks, and a couple of sodas. Overall, I would stay here again due to its proximity to the highway and the size of the rooms, but I would request a quiet floor.

Hotel is very nice. Very moden. Rooms are great! Very spacious. The lobby furniture is poorly planned. Yall have chairs right behind where people check in blocking the path of other guests to get through the only path from the front doors to the elevators . I had to shove them out of the way repeatedly to get theough without rubbin butts. You advertise a curated fresh new take on breakfast on the site and on posters in the elevators... but you have NOTHING of the sort. Its the same crap rubber sausage powdere eggs, oatmeal, 3 kinds of cereal, generic bagles and white bread. Waffle station. No milk, No butter, no fruit. Same trash as everywhere else. Wasted trip downstairs. This not fresh, not curated, well curated by an accountant or cheap frachise owner maybe. The rooms themselves are great.

Front desk woman was not very friendly at checkout and when I called about a reversal for a pending fee she said that was released she was EXTREMELY rude to the representative from Chime to the point I apologized to him repeatedly. Luckily my stay didnt have much to do with her but I'm unlikely to return due to her disrespectful behavior.

The general manager, Conner cancelled my stay through Expedia because “I didn’t show up on the date of my intended check in”. I called the night before to let the front desk know I would not be there until the next morning but I’m still paying for all three nights of my intended stay. They made me jump through the Expedia hoops to request a waiver the proper way, and then still wouldn’t give me the waiver I requested. So Expedia kept my money and the hotel kept a portion of the reservation and I get nothing. I requested to speak to the general manager and he comes out looking straight down at the floor the entire time he’s speaking to me. I was very calm and diplomatic with my communications about my frustration with the whole situation. He did not look me in the eye one time but eventually agreed to take my card for the “$100 incidental fee” that would be refunded after checkout provided no damages were done. And he allowed me to check into a room with only this fee charged. Upon checkout I spoke to Yolanda at the front desk who was amazing and very helpful. She looked into the situation and found that it appeared Mr general manager planned to use my card to pay for the room he “gave me”. Rather than use the Expedia reservation he claimed he had “reinstated”. I very much thank Yolanda for taking great care of me in this rough situation and this general manager, Conner ought to take page out of her book and learn how to treat customers.

I would give this hotel a higher rating however I was disappointed with the staff. After being gone all day and noticing that housekeeping was still on our floor but had skipped our room, I asked at the front desk if they could do ours. I was told that I had to put in a request if I wanted our room serviced and it was too late. I was not notified of this policy at check in nor is it posted anywhere. How was I supposed to know this?! I waited at the desk for 15 minutes and rang the bell multiple times before someone came to check me in - this was not the middle of the night either - it was around 7pm - there was a line after me. After driving five hours you just want to be able to check in quickly and get to your room. The room was fine but bright lights shine into your room all night and our shade was broken. It was a big room with a couch and that was very nice to have. There’s no where to fill a water bottle up though. It would be nice to have a water filling station or a water fountain or something - seems like a basic amenity to me.

Check in was supposed to be 3pm. We arrived around 515pm and our room still wasn’t ready. Had to wait an extra hour till around 6-615pm to finally get in our room. Pillows are basically couch pillows. Breakfast being continental was ok but not the best at all. Staff was decent, says it has a bar but was not how it’s made to look. Booked a king and was given a double. The person checking me in was so slow, lines formed for simple check-in so it wasn’t worth trying to rectify. The blow dryer shorted out at the chord and no one responded with a new one so we just put it in the trash. The AC sounded like an aircraft engine. The breakfast bar was over by 9:15am. I relayed all this to the day staff who was pleasant but said “ it wasn’t the Hyatt they normally work at” so…staying with Hilton from here one.

Overall, Hyatt Place Grand Rapids-South did not disappoint. It was convenient for our trip needs. Property was very clean and the room suitable. We especially appreciate the walk-in showers and bath products. Two areas that were disappointing: Housekeeping did not provide service during our stay. Everything was fine until breakfast. Breakfast was supposed to be served until 10 so we went down at 945. There was barely any food left and we had to ask for more food. There were other people still coming down for breakfast as well. We asked multiple times and multiple people if more food was going to come out and one lady said yes and one lady said no. They brought out a few more biscuits and a few sausage links and that was it. It was clear that they didn’t care that people were waiting for food. By now it was almost 10 and they were ready to close up shop. There also were no glasses or bowls. One lady brought out 2 bowls so my husband could at least grab some cereal. There was a wedding at the hotel which means there’s “young” people there. They aren’t going to get up at 730 for breakfast. They’re going to get breakfast at 955. When breakfast is included in your price and it’s until 10 am then it should be served until 10. It seemed like the attitude of the staff was “this is what’s left and this is what you get”. What I didn't like is the breakfast. There wasn't enough for everyone, it was unorganized, scattered around, seating didn’t make sense, and it was just chaotic. I was able to grab a bagel and cup of milk and that was it. However, the room was fantastic and I would stay here again simply because of the room size and bed comfort.

Property was clean amd staff was friendly. My only complaints: hallways seemed to be hot and stuffy---room temps were fine and controllable. I appreciated a cool room upon arrival. The breakfast was already in takedown mode 30 minutes before closing time. There were few options hot and fresh--and little left. Shut down and clean up, in my opinion, should be begin after the timeframe--if guests are done. It felt like we all needed to hurry and find what was left. It was a crowded soace and people were walking arpund clueless, all trying to find food. 😵💫

Hotel is very nice. Very moden. Rooms are great! Very spacious. The lobby furniture is poorly planned. Yall have chairs right behind where people check in blocking the path of other guests to get through the only path from the front doors to the elevators . I had to shove them out of the way repeatedly to get theough without rubbin butts. You advertise a curated fresh new take on breakfast on the site and on posters in the elevators... but you have NOTHING of the sort. Its the same crap rubber sausage powdere eggs, oatmeal, 3 kinds of cereal, generic bagles and white bread. Waffle station. No milk, No butter, no fruit. Same trash as everywhere else. Wasted trip downstairs. This not fresh, not curated, well curated by an accountant or cheap frachise owner maybe. The rooms themselves are great.

The pool was out of order 1 of the 2 days we were there which was one of the reasons we went. The internet didn't work the whole time we were there and the toilet handle was put on backwards making our toilet run constantly and barely usable during our stay.

The room was what I needed. A comfortable bed, tv , hot water for showering no major complaints. For the sofa in the room I recommend a deep cleaning. Specifically rooms on the third floor . The couch had a faint, Off putting odor so that limited how Often I sat in it. Breakfast was good. Did what it needed to do. Otherwise bedsides the recommendation to deep clean the sofas in the rooms I would stay there again.
