The hotel is staffed by some of the friendliest people we've encountered for several years we had traveled in foreign countries. Special mention to John, Luis, and most especially Melissa, who not only assisted us in booking us an extra night at the hotel after our trip to Segovia -- all via the WhatsApp app their hotel extensively uses to access the hotel door and room door. This might not be the most classy, and feature-rich 3-star hotel you will find on the Internet. But it's always how the staff treats you with your request and assistance - when you're in a foreign country. The rooms are at par with what you pay; the bathrooms may be too small for US standards, but the location more than pays for itself as it is conveniently next to the Plaza Mayor of Madrid and the Metro light-rail train station (Sol Station), shops & restaurants are all just a few yards from the hotel. We will use the same hotel if the opportunity presents itself that we will be back in Madrid in the near future!

Location, Location, Location. An ideal hotel for those who just need a clean, comfortable bed and bathroom. Perfectly location between Plaza Mayor and Puerta de Sol with easy access to taxi stand and Metro. I was surprised by the modern elevator and cool AC. It was also surprising that there was staff at front desk 24 hrs. Staff was friendly and helpful. I will recommend it. For the price it is hard to beat.

We were looking for a hotel in Madrid centre and found Hostal Madrid.......in a great spot, near Sol....... friendly, efficient staff. Room not large but had everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. The renovation in this building has been sympathetic to building 's history but now has modern touch. No in room phone so we were provided with a knock on our door for a wake up call for our early morning flight........ great service.

Perfect location from which to explore Madrid! Walking distance to everything important (stores, restaurants, and transpo) One block from Puerta Del Sol plaza and 2 blocks from Plaza Mayor! Would stay there again next time! Tho its a no frills hostel, its the perfect place to crash and sleep and do nothing else, so dont expect any luxuries. But You wont find a better location anywhere in Madrid!!

This is very good budget hotel close to the Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor in central Madrid. The reception area, on the ground floor, is attractive and the staff are very pleasant. We had a triple room, which was reasonably spacious, very clean and freshly decorated. Our reservation was that it was rather stark, and would have benefitted from some decorative features and softer lighting. The bathroom was a bit cramped. There was a fridge, which was useful, and it wasn't at all noisy. The room looked out on to the street, which is mainly pedestrian. It was quite noisy in the evening with people going past but not too bad.

the reception upgraded our room to a 3 bedroom apartment … it was great and spacious. the only negative side is the old elevator that brings us to our apartment… it was a real old building elevator that would fit only ine person. we ended up using the stairs

Alojamiento céntrico, al lado de la Puerta del Sol. Habitación amplia con nevera y aire acondicionado. El baño necesita alguna mejora pero es totalmente funcional y estaba limpio. Al ser un edificio antiguo, la insonorización no es total, se escucha el ruido de la calle. Personal atento. Guardan las maletas antes y después. Para repetir.

Excellent place in one of the most fun places in central Madrid. There are numerous quality restaurants, shops and theatres nearby. There’s also a taxi stand around the corner. The staff is also very nice and helpful. Check-in is a breeze and mosh of all, the room was very clean and cozy. It’s also very safe. I recommend it and will not hesitate to stay again.

A great location close to metro and taxi rank but in a reasonably quiet area. And within easy walking distance of some major plazas and excellent tapas places and restaurants. Hotel staff very helpful. The room was a reasonable size and kept very clean.

Room had three single beds so was convenient. The bathroom was a little small but adequate. Noise from the busy street below but the wooden shutters muffled most of it. Great for a couple nights stay. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Very nice hotel in a great location. The check in process was easy with very friendly receptionists. We were able to drop our luggage off before check in since we arrived early to Madrid. The room was a nice size and had a mini fridge which was very helpful. Our room was on a busy street so earplugs help for sleeping.

This is very good budget hotel close to the Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor in central Madrid. The reception area, on the ground floor, is attractive and the staff are very pleasant. There was a fridge, which was useful, and it wasn't at all noisy. The room looked out on to the street, which is mainly pedestrian. It was quite noisy in the evening with people going past but not too bad.

Gigi the receptionist is very friendly and helpful.. we had a wonderful time and the cost of it been very affordable .. clean quick in and out.. transportation: metro taxis uber around the corner, not to count all you want to eat with a few steps left and right

Excellent séjour de 2 nuits. Le personnel est très à l'écoute et d'une grande aide. Le seul point négatif pouvant être le bruit (que les volets atténuent la nuit, donc c'est OK). Mais, on est au centre de la ville de Madrid, dans une zone plus ou moins piétonne. On ne peut pas faire mieux pour visiter la ville ! A conseiller !
