Maui Beach Hotel

We had an okay stay at the Maui Beach Hotel. The check in was a bit disappointing when we were told that we had to pay an extra $20 a day for amenities, that we weren’t expecting. We were also next to a busy road and listened to cars most of the night. Great location and appreciate the free shuttle to the airport.

Grounds are nice with games and shared cabanas.

Construction next door made it hard to get in out of the property and was little loud in the am/pm, if you’re on that side of the hotel

Older hotel, great location. Very friendly staff, decent gym. Fire pits in the evening were a nice bonus. Excellent value for the money

Customer service was great. They only gave 2 towels and we had 4 people so every day we had to go ask for more towels. They have a roof too pool but never went to it. Parking is limited but we always had a spot. It is an extra $15 a day for parking.

It was in a nice secluded cove. Pool location left a little to be desired.

Only stayed for one day. Pool was out of order and restaurant was closed. The grounds of the hotel are very nice but the beach behind the hotel is small and dirty.

Restaurant and bar closed on Monday our arrival date. Front desk clerk did not give any arrival info Looked for the pool and had to call to find out that it’s a rooftop pool and same with the food/bar services.

Good for our one night stay being close to the airport. Clean and comfortable. There is no beach but chairs on the grass overlooking the water were nice.

The pictures online are not accurate compared to the actual rooms they have. I feel like I paid too much money for the quality. The pool is located on the roof in the front of the hotel. Not much space up there and it’s just awkward. The room was very crammed, the good part of it was that the AC was working.

The property was decent for someone thats not going to be in the room that much. The floor of room looked dirty and felt a little sticky and there was a few roaches that i saw. The location is not really near too many things and the beach by the hotel wasnt too great..Room AC worked great and room was always clean when we returned from our outings..

There was roaches in the room, and it had a weird smell. The laundry room looked really dated. This was not worth the price that I spent for one night.

The lobby area and lounge area outside was cute, I would not take children to swim at the beach because of the high winds, choppy water and very rocky beach area. Beach views are always nice but you’d have to walk a bit to see it. Check in was efficient enough. The room furnishings are extreme old and the toilet was not cleaned properly, phones were not working so was very inconvenient to go to the lobby every time we had a question or problem. In the middle of the night the ac went out, which they switch our room, but the room had roaches, the beds had no mattress pad but a sheet draped over the mattress, the iron and iron board had burnt on stains, we asked to switch them out but they did not know we switched rooms so it took forever and then when we got a different iron it did not work. This whole fiasco made us late to a wedding. We will not go back to this hotel nor recommend it.

Staff was very helpful and friendly! The outside courtyard was absolutely beautiful! The outside grounds were well kept. The carpet inside the halls and rooms was not clean, we were uncomfortable going without footwear.

The room was dirty. Was very UNSURE if the bed linen was even changed out (when I pulled the covers down it already looked sat/slept in, the pillow case looked like it wasn’t changed and there were crumbs in the bed). I actually slept on top of the comforter and used my sweater as a blanket. The furniture was dated. Will not come back.

The rooms are old and very moldy. The smell in the first room can only be described as similar to a toilet cake. The 2nd room we were in after complaining smelled better, but if you turned on the ductless AC the mold stench was insufferable. We were able to open a window, which aired it out it made it horribly hot. There were people outside in the parking lot too close to windows, and so we were kept up a while by the noise. Add the stained couch and flooring, and this was not worth the $400 per night paid.

The hotel's proximity to the airport is a huge plus. That being said, the hotel is very dated, lacks comforters on the beds, and we had to change rooms because the toilet in our first room continually ran and emitted a high pitched noise every 5 minutes. Fortunately there are other choices for hotels in the area and they're building a Hilton right next door so that should be a great choice in the future.

If you’re on a very tight budget, this hotel might work for you — but I personally regretted not choosing something better. The street noise is noticeable, so I’d recommend booking at least a garden view room to minimize that. We had AC issues twice during our stay, but the hotel staff addressed them promptly, which I appreciated. The restaurants nearby were very good. The location was fine if you planning on driving around a lot. If you are the type that wants to stay near a beach and walk to it, I recommend booking somewhere else.

The rooms on the backside of the hotel are right next to the road. The road noise was persistent throughout the night, including cars playing very loud music, doing peel outs and what sounded like racing! The quality and size of the room for the price was disappointing, based on the picture that we had seen online. The hotel is overall looking quite tired. A disappointing start to our trip.

The ice machine did not work and the AC in our room kept turning off

There were several pros and cons about this place. Biggest Pros: a private, not crowded beach, and it was conveniently located to the airport and was easy to get to other locations on the island quickly. Biggest cons: the room was extremely small, there was only a shower stall barely big enough for 1 person. And the room was not even close to sound proof. You could hear everything in the halls. The beach was littered with trash along the property bushes.

I don't want to bash this property, so I will just list a few things I wish I would have known before booking my ocean view room. 1: The bedroom was on the bottom floor, the ocean view we upgraded to was barely a sliver and the windows were covered by trees. The mattress was really bad. We asked to be moved to an upper floor, but there are only two double beds available, so we stayed in our room. The ocean is there, but the hotel is in a wharf where we saw a cruise ship come in and out of, and there's only about 15 feet of sand but it was full of trash and needs to be cleaned. Don't think you're going to be able to hang on the beach and swim at this location. 2: The room was small, and musty, shower was really small, mold bubbling everywhere that had been painted over, especially at the base of the shower on the drywall. Musty basement smell. 3: The room had no access to the courtyard. They could have easily put a sliding door to walk out, but there are just small windows and you have to walk all the way around through the halls to get outside. Very old hotel design. 4: Location is convenient to shopping, and centrally located. The pool was nice, and the restaurant is nice. Parking is easy, and the location is very convenient for the airport. But we will not be staying here again.

Property is a little dated and rooms are very small

Our two double room was VERY small and had no frills. Although it was clean enough, in general, this hotel feels like it needs a makeover. The grounds are very pretty, and the location on the water is nice.

The hotel’s location is convenient, especially for travelers needing quick access to the airport. However, the overall experience falls short of expectations, particularly given the price point. While it’s advertised as a 3-star property, the quality and amenities are more in line with a 2-star rating. The lobby feels outdated and poorly maintained, lacking the welcoming atmosphere one would expect. Additionally, the photos posted online are heavily edited and don’t accurately reflect the property’s current condition — the real-life appearance is noticeably less appealing. Overall, the value doesn’t justify the cost, and I would recommend considering other options nearby for a better balance of comfort and price.

The concierge was amazing. I couldn’t find the hotel and she literally guided me in on the phone. This was a one-night stopover for us, so we weren’t looking for anything more than a comfortable bed, and we got that plus amazing service.

Where to begin… The rooms were not thoroughly cleaned and the AC was blowing something that smelled of mold or mildew. I knew right away that this was not a fit for us, but Expedia tried to reach the front desk for cancellation approval and the front desk refused to let us leave. Further, the relocation team rejected our request because I booked as a single occupant with 2 beds, but brought my caregiver with me due to my disability. Expedia said there was nothing they could do and I had to stay there or lose my money. Terrible!! We were upgraded to ocean view room that was infested with roaches. They tried to upgrade us again to a room which had been recently renovated but the AC was blowing warm air only and we couldn’t open the windows because there were no screens. We tried to tell the manager on Sunday morning about all our problems and we waited for an hour both in the room and at the front but no one came to talk to us. Frankly we were pissed. We talked to a local and told them where were staying. Apparently they say this hotel has a history for being the worst hotel to stay at on the island, and I have to say I agree. The room where we stayed had a noisy AC that rattled and the maintenance person said that for sure he would get to it and never did. Maria said she would refund our resort fee but never put in any notes to do so. Another supervisor said she would refund everything she could (~$100) but we are still waiting for that. Never again!!!!

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly! An error was made by Expedia and their staff was extremely helpful and accommodating in finding a solution. Would absolutely stay here again!

We wanted to support a local Maui hotel on this visit, and Maui Beach Hotel is that, plus very convenient for us in terms of access to excellent dining and sightseeing. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, and the front desk staff was very efficient and accommodating to us. Even with the construction going on next door, we found it pleasant and not too noisy. If we have the opportunity to return to Maui, our first choice for a hotel would be Maui Beach Hotel.

Was a great place. Had a couple issues with the AC and they ended up upgrading me. Will stay here again next time I'm in town. Service was great.

When I checked in the lady at front desk stated she had given our room we had prepaid for away to someone else who booked on the hotel site.

Outstanding staff and service. These folks went way above and beyond to accommodate my needs. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I did ask to move rooms as my first room was on the highway side and quite noisy. For the price and location though, many would not care about that. Mahalo for a perfect stay 💜.

Great location but need a car

Oceanview. Walking distance to the beach. A little windy for swimming. It's located in the middle of the island. So it's easy to reach either end of the island. It's not very far from Walmart or Costco.

Location was convenient and safe nesr the airport and central. The rooms were nice and clean and staff pleasant.

Homeless sleeping outside the hotel on the beach, I had to pay daily fee to park a rental car at the hotel I already paid to stay at. Staff was friendly & helpful. Room was smaller than looks on website. Ocean view not realistic, more hotel next to the hotel

Great location with some fun amenities. It is an older motel and is showing its age, but served as a nice launching spot for our drive on the Road to Hana.

Staff are wonderful. Convenient location near airport. Nice beach.

The staff was extremely nice! But this is simply a place to sleep at night. There is not much the hotel offers during the day, restaurant hours are limited and cocktail lounge hours are limited to dining. So no drinks by the pool unless you bring your own. The hotel is located on a very busy street (no fault of the hotel) just keep in mind that you can hear everything, all night. This place is okay if you have activities planned in the area. Maybe a good spot to stay after a RTH trip. But not for more that 1 or 2 nights. We stayed for 2 nights before going to Kaanapali.

Prime Rib Buffet was excellent!

The resturant was not open during posted hours. May want to enjoy nearby resturants as only 1 person for all tables.

We enjoyed staying at the Maui Beach Hotel - descent price, friendly staff, good breakfast buffet. It's our go to place when we come in from the Big Island.

We had amazing time by the pool. Staff was absolutle amazingly helpful. Right on the beach to watch the para-sailers and it was just beautiful. The restaurant was delicious, I recommend fhe furkaki chicken, enough for two. We bought a day pass for our last day it was so great.
