The hotel would be in a great location once the Alamo Museum is finished but that won’t be until 2028. We were not told about the construction right out our window. I do understand the construction has to go on but not at 3am and again at 4 am. There was a backup beeper that started at 3am and then at 4am they decided to start pouring concrete and again a backup beeper and the noise of the concrete pour and the rotation of the machine. Also the Valet parking sucks. We waited for over an hour to get our vehicle one day and close to it another day. The guy noticed we had waited for an extended period of time told us he would take care of the Valet Charges for the day but we were still charged the $45.00 for the day (I thought his word would be good, Wrong). You should not have to pay for valet and have to wait for over an hour to get your car. I’m not sure what needs to be changed. One day we were waiting and it wasn’t an hour but close. The kid that was trying to drive a Mustang with a clutch didn’t know how to start the vehicle or how to drive a stick shift, after trying several times and we could see him trying to Google it, he finally got out and took off running to get our truck due to our wait time. He was going to try to park that car and bring ours back at the same time. I understand the Valet shouldn’t be against the hotel but they hired them and offer the service when you arrive.

Heather at the front desk was wonderful. Such a kind and pleasant personality. She even brought me a cup of coffee when the Keurig in my room did not work. Breakfast was amazing for a buffet. Lots of traditional choices and even tortillas and guisada! Quite a treat. Can't beat the location for visiting the Alamo other than staying at the Menger. Our room was nice, clean and functional. The Gibbs is a neat, historic building and we would definitely recommend it and stay there again.
