The property was well maintained and very clean. The wild life was a special experience and the marine exhibit was very good. The welcome was very good and the staff generally very friendly and helpful The dining options were limited and for the prices charged probably not to the standard I would have expected. I get that it's an island and everything has to be transported to the island. We found the food good but bland. Maybe it's trying to accommodate for people that are not used to full flavoured foods. Not sure. We felt a little let down from a food perspective. Otherwise a very good kid friendly place.

Beautiful island, the resort side is amazing. We loved the shells on arrival, mimosa and they gad a lovely card and bottle of bubbles in our room to celebrate. The day area was abit dated as the bar was closed and the pool was empty. It has so much potential.

The breakfast was lovely and replenished constantly. The pool is beautiful though we were there 4 days and didnt see it cleaned once while there, lots of leaves, grass etc from previous days not cleaned out. This is our 5th visit to daydream and each time we go there are things that have been removed or changed and not available anymore. There are not enough options for lunch and dinner, so we were pleased we werent there for a week this time as we were running out of things we wanted to eat. Staff were all lovely and our rooms clean but you could see where around the resort more attention to cleaning is needed and has been let go.

So clean and new, fresh vibe. Food was great. The staff are outstanding. Best pool in the Whitsundays. Only one bit of feedback - the beds are terrible, incredibly uncomfortable. I hope they are replaced by the next time we come back.

Lovely place. Not enough to do. Half the island was closed. Pool at the "closed" end of the island needs a good paint. Only has 1 restaurant option for lunch. Then going back to the same restaurant for dinner with only 1 other option. An option to order a light lunch or snack at the pool would have been nice.

Positives- Staff worked really hard and were helpful. Bingo and trivia were fun. Negatives- Unheated pool in winter. Wind cancelled activities leaving nothing to do. Dirty chair and curtains in our room. Staying for a week but didn't top up bathroom supplies. Shutters moudly in dining area. Terrible options for lunch. Too expensive to travel to mainland or hamilton for a daytrip. Half the island isn't used but has so much potential.

Just not alot of free things to do. Half the island seems to be closed. Was like walking through a ghost town going to the other side of the island for watersports that i guess arent available everyday. Walking track closed. I understand wet wheather affects these but then my options are either table tennis, pool, wait in long lines for drinks or use in room tv when it works

The tanks and open waterways that displayed tropical fish was really great. The dining options are very limited, breakfast area was always full of birds both walking around and flying around which was unhygienic. Birds were stealing food off the tables and the buffet area. The staff were unconcerned and unbothered. Everything needed a bit of work, from rusted table legs through to aging facilities.

I loved the staff were lovely and the pools and facilities were pretty good . The rooms weren’t the cleanest and the bathrooms needed some Maintanence I understand it’s an island and the humidity plays a factor but I paid for an ‘upgraded’ ocean view room and it wasn’t the greatest. I think the most important factor that isn’t great for the hotel is the lack of food options / no room service or ability to take back anything other than pizza , chips or about 3 things off the menu . Which was hard as we have kids and one of them goes to bed at 7.30. The variety wasn’t great you get sick of eating the same things for lunch and dinner after a couple of days especially if they weren’t great when you had them the first time. The buffet breakfast was also really good. There was nothing in the rooms like a mini bar so I couldn’t purchase anything to eat or drink from there but the island said you were not allowed to bring food from outside the island . The rule needs to change as I wasn’t able to bring anything I couldn’t get fresh milk for my little girl to drink overnight and my kids didn’t eat fruit or vegetables for 4 days . At home we eat cucumber / carrots / bananas / salads avocado ect daily. So I think overall it’s nice to see but I wouldn’t return and the other part of the island really needs some work.

Dirty rooms extremely dusty everything in the room, dirty hallways, flooded hallways, mold on hallway carpets, dirty breakfast dinning room, extremely slow staff, No music at the swim up pool, No Tomato sauce, no sand on the beach, mould in showers, no fish and chips for kids, no ice, bathroom fan not working, TV hang all the way up the ceiling with exposed wires on wall. Fans not working in breakfast dinning room, Ripping customers off on food and drink cost! I ve been to 3rd world Communist Cuba among other resorts around the world and their resort hotels are 5 times better compared to what I paid for in a beautiful daydream island Australia.

The food at the restaurants was poor and overpriced. Minimal options. The islands recycled water irrigation system for the gardens smelt putrid. Our rooms balcony was filthy and the sliding doors rails were black. We were required to request a room change due to the putrid smell of the irrigation water. The resort staff were kind enough to facilitate a room change for us. The resort is tired it needs maintenance. The pools were nice and there is a nice walk around the island and Lovers Cove snorkelling is great.

I was pleasantly surprised by the facility. The living reef was a very convenient option for kids and adults to experience. Weather wasn't the best but staff made opportunities for activities. Food and service at Salti restaurant was very good. Buffet breakfast was unfortunately quite disappointing with limited options and quality of the food compared to the star rating of the facility. Coffee cups were heavily stained with coffee despite raising this issue with management 3 days in a row. Response was their dishwasher wasn't working properly. ?? How hygienic were the utensils then??

The condition of the hotel and the apartment was very unsatisfactory. The bathroom shower has visible mould and rust. We found droplets of blood on our bed linen. Dust balls underneath the beds. We were truly saddened, as my family work in the health field, and we rarely take time off work, and when we finally decided to holiday on “Day Dream Island Resort”, we were utterly disappointed with the state of uncleanliness and lack of hygiene evident throughout the entire Resort.

Lovely resort. Some nice features in particular the Living Reef and underwater observatory, both free. Rooms are large clean and well appointed. Daydream was really nice, the island itself was beautiful. Some areas of the resort were a little run down, the shower in our room was not great in terms of design flaws, water spilling over the side due to lack of glass, the fan in the bathroom didn’t work either which meant it was a constant battle against condensation when showering, not ideal. Food was inconsistent across different dining options, even if you ordered the same thing it would come totally different on another day. Some areas of the resort were dirty, carpet and lounge areas in communal points. Good range of activities and lovers cove was beautiful, pool was nice too, staff were super helpful- Tour desk were great to organise activities through. Spa prices a bit high.

We were extremely unlucky with weather, it was rain and strong winds during our stay. Unfortunately heater option was locked in my hotel room. Working fans were everywhere in common areas so there was also cold. This is not the best place for snorkeling. It is better to take tours to outer reef from here. The island itself is beautiful and hotel is great, many pools, reef, comfy mattresses, great views. Wallaroos, cockatoos, curlews everywhere, they all are so funny.

Overall great holiday but limited menu at only two restaurants. Would be better if menu changed over the week. Needed a store to buy fresh fruit, snacks, etc. Buildings overall pretty tired. Smell of sewerage at one end of island which meant walking far was not enjoyable. The rainforest walk we had to hold our noses for half of it! So clean and new, fresh vibe. Food was great. The staff are outstanding. Best pool in the Whitsundays. Only one bit of feedback - the beds are terrible, incredibly uncomfortable. I hope they are replaced by the next time we come back.

The property itself is lovely and the rooms are spacious with very comfy (new) beds. Generous amount of towels given and nice bathroom amenities. We received an upgrade which was a lovely surprise. Beautiful pools and the underwater aquarium is amazing. Buffet breakfast is pretty standard but has a nice view of the fish and aquariums. Few issues - 1. We arrived at 11am and had given prior notice we would be early, early checkin isn’t guaranteed which is fine however our room wasn’t ready until almost 3pm which is an hour after the guaranteed check in time of 2pm! 2. One end of the island looks like a derelict ghost town - everything is closed, the pool is out of order and generally looked rundown and forgotten about. 3. Room service is for nighttime only 4. No real lunch options available which is annoying since you can’t pop down the road to go get food. 5. Coffee pods not replenished daily. The Infinity restaurant is an absolute standout - the food is incredible and lovely staff there. Highly recommend eating here!!

My partner and I stayed on daydream island for seven nights. Perhaps if you are looking for a family holiday with young children, and are not too fussed about frills, this may be just the thing. For couples looking for a quiet relaxing hassle free holiday, it didn’t quite hit the spot. Bookings - Be warned in advance that bookings to do anything are essential (eat lunch/ dinner/ go on a ferry etc). Nothing can be done spur of the moment! In addition, the activities that we did book were not exactly a seamless experience. Missed details led to us doing a considerable amount of organising on behalf of staff, with a “cruise” to Whitehaven beach sold to us turning out to be simply a series of ferry passes. Staff and service- Very hit and miss, some were exceptional (Brendan from jet skiing and jade from Salti dining). Others were too young, clearly just here for a short time and no real investment in making your experience better. Lack of hospitality experience showed, with house keeping not emptying bins (and not refilling bin liners once I emptied it myself), not vacuuming rooms when asked and having no system to easily make requests for room service. Additionally, ringing for the front desk was never answered. It took us walking down to front desk (always manned by staff) for us to put requests in. Sometimes they were actioned, mostly not. Amenities - The pool area needs way more shade available, especially given the large amount of young families and children.

Great stay, from the start all staff made us feel special But ended on a bad note… The departure was not handled well - no one to help with bags, staff member MIA then advised no bag assistance but made a big deal about coming down to walk us to ferry line! A great resort to relax and play. Despite the rough weather, we could still move around the resort easily; we checked out the rainforest walk, fed wallaroos and admired the underwater reef. Lots of nature all around. The cleanliness of the rooms were not consistent, depending who was doing it, sometimes the floor was not cleaned. That was the downside as we went to Airlie Beach after Daydream Island the the hotel hygiene and cleanliness were 10x better. The customer service from staff was lacking - upon check out at 8.30am on Monday 30th June, I had the front service staff huff in her breath when I kindly asked to view my invoice before making the final payment. My sister in law also had bad customer service when she waited for her coffees, only to find out they were ready and 'sitting there' while the 3 staff/barista were busy chatting away. The welcome process was great unfortunately the great customer service did not follow through.

Daydream island is beautiful and the hotel has wonderful facilities. Unfortunately it was let down by the service. While the majority of the staff were very friendly, service was abysmal. 15 minute wait just to be seated or served. There were always lots of staff around, but they were not attentive to guests. This included the swim up bar, where if you wanted a drink you needed to get out of the pool as we were ignored otherwise. Waiting up to an hour for meals, and first rounds of drinks only coming out halfway through the meal. The food and drinks were very expensive for what they were ($12 beers), and the huge wait times only made it worse. Room service was not any better. The first night we ordered it was not delivered, and the second time it took almost an hour and a half to get 2 burgers. They only arrived when we rang to ask about it after an hour. We stayed for a week, and our room was only made up once during this time. We put the make up our room sign on our door on day 5 as we were desperate for fresh towels and still our room was not cleaned at all. This has the potential to be a fantastic holiday spot. The living reef and lovers cove are beautiful and definite draw cards. But at this time we would not return or recommend any one else go there either.

This impacted largely on our experience as wait times to order food was 40mins or more and then often there was only 1 person at the bar making coffees, cocktails and drinks during busy times. We do not even know that we have to pay for the expensive ferry tickets for each single trip to the nearby islands and port.

The property is beautiful and the wildlife is amazing. They need to have more options for dining because of the limited seating. They also need more seating around the outside areas including the pool. Trying to get a spot around the pool is a little more than difficult. The restaurants are not accommodating unless you have a reservation which is hard to get. The activities around the island are fun. The kayaking however is ridiculous. They let you go in probably 100 m² of the ocean and no further. After 10 minutes we were done.

We really enjoyed staying at Daydream island. Beautiful place and lovely resort. The only thing I didn’t like was that there is no sand and only coral on the beaches so you have to wear shoes at all times and can’t suntan or lie by the ocean.

We loved that feeling of being on holiday in such a tranquil remote location, with nothing but the other hotel guests and hotel staff and some native wild life for company, no cars, no noise, just bliss and only 30 minutes from Oz.

Pool area is relaxing and having the “living reef” is great to spend time at. Not much to do at night so be prepared for a quiet vacation. Staff were very nice and efficient. If you get windy weather it is very unlikely you will be able to use the aquatic equipment. Maybe that goes without saying. We had an ocean view room but couldn’t use the balcony because it was so windy. The hotel could use a really good vacuuming and room detailing. Food was hit and miss. For the price, I felt it should have been better.

I loved the staff were lovely and the pools and facilities were pretty good . The rooms weren’t the cleanest and the bathrooms needed some Maintanence I understand it’s an island and the humidity plays a factor but I paid for an ‘upgraded’ ocean view room and it wasn’t the greatest. I think the most important factor that isn’t great for the hotel is the lack of food options / no room service or ability to take back anything other than pizza , chips or about 3 things off the menu . Which was hard as we have kids and one of them goes to bed at 7.30. The variety wasn’t great you get sick of eating the same things for lunch and dinner after a couple of days especially if they weren’t great when you had them the first time. There was nothing in the rooms like a mini bar so I couldn’t purchase anything to eat or drink from there but the island said you were not allowed to bring food from outside the island . The rule needs to change as I wasn’t able to bring anything I couldn’t get fresh milk for my little girl to drink overnight and my kids didn’t eat fruit or vegetables for 4 days . At home we eat cucumber / carrots / bananas / salads avocado ect daily. So I think overall it’s nice to see but I wouldn’t return and the other part of the island really needs some work.
I loved the staff were lovely and the pools and facilities were pretty good . The rooms weren’t the cleanest and the bathrooms needed some Maintanence I understand it’s an island and the humidity plays a factor but I paid for an ‘upgraded’ ocean view room and it wasn’t the greatest. I think the most important factor that isn’t great for the hotel is the lack of food options / no room service or ability to take back anything other than pizza , chips or about 3 things off the menu . Which was hard as we have kids and one of them goes to bed at 7.30. The property was well maintained and very clean. The wild life was a special experience and the marine exhibit was very good. The welcome was very good and the staff generally very friendly and helpful The dining options were limited and for the prices charged probably not to the standard I would have expected. I get that it's an island and everything has to be transported to the island. We found the food good but bland. Maybe it's trying to accommodate for people that are not used to full flavoured foods. Not sure. We felt a little let down from a food perspective. Otherwise a very good kid friendly place.

Very limited options at the Infinity restaurant considering the prices. The food looked great but was consistently disappointing. Very similar experience at the Salti restaurant. The pizzas were good though. It was also surprising that the resorts dedicated Tour and Activities desk weren't able to arrange activities for us. Instead, they advised us to call companies to arrange this ourselves. They didn't seem to appreciate that the "cheap local call" would mean having to buy a Roaming package for out mobiles, which was definitely not expected to be necessary when staying at the resort. Every day we were told the jetskis were either unavailable because it was too windy, or they were fully booked. However, the jetskis were parked up and unused, whilst we could see people from other resorts using jetskis on the water. There was clearly an issue with the management or operation of the service and it was very disappointing and frustrating to hear them being dishonest about it. Cocktails were expensive, very underwhelming, and the customer service was appalling. As there was very little else to do, due to the windy conditions and lack of jetskis, this could have been something fun for us and lucrative for them, but everyone missed out on the opportunity. Areas of the resort were very run down and derelict. Having somewhat splashed out on this rare treat for the family and not spared the expenses, it was very disappointing and did not live up to the reviews I'd read.

The food at the restaurants was poor and overpriced. Minimal options. The islands recycled water irrigation system for the gardens smelt putrid. Our rooms balcony was filthy and the sliding doors rails were black. We were required to request a room change due to the putrid smell of the irrigation water. The resort staff were kind enough to facilitate a room change for us. The resort is tired it needs maintenance. The pools were nice and there is a nice walk around the island and Lovers Cove snorkelling is great.

We really enjoyed our stay at Daydream Island. The staff are fantastic and the food was very good. Our room was comfortable and clean. The island is a really beautiful spot with crystal clear blue waters, fantastic pool areas, and the living reef really gives you the full experience of being at The Great Barrier Reef. There are plenty of activities on the island as well as trivia nights, bingo, and outdoor cinema. There are many tour options leaving Daydream Island daily for those who want to visit the reef, Hamilton Island, Airlie Beach,or Whitehaven Beach. The rooms have on-demand movies with a large selection including new releases. It would be great to have additional dining options. There is essentially two restaurants for dinner which while great, it does get a bit repetitive after a week. We also recommend making bookings for dinner before arriving as the two restaurants get booked out resulting in being restricted to having to do take away back to your room.

The property itself is lovely and the rooms are spacious with very comfy (new) beds. Generous amount of towels given and nice bathroom amenities. We received an upgrade which was a lovely surprise. Beautiful pools and the underwater aquarium is amazing. Buffet breakfast is pretty standard but has a nice view of the fish and aquariums. Few issues - 1. We arrived at 11am and had given prior notice we would be early, early checkin isn’t guaranteed which is fine however our room wasn’t ready until almost 3pm which is an hour after the guaranteed check in time of 2pm! 2. One end of the island looks like a derelict ghost town - everything is closed, the pool is out of order and generally looked rundown and forgotten about. 3. Room service is for nighttime only 4. No real lunch options available which is annoying since you can’t pop down the road to go get food. 5. Coffee pods not replenished daily. The Infinity restaurant is an absolute standout - the food is incredible and lovely staff there. Highly recommend eating here!!

Nice 4 night stay. Room was comfortable-no tv reception but a good on demand movie selection for relaxing in the evening. Food was good -pizzas and the Christmas is July buffet especially. Breakfast by the reef each morning was enjoyable. We saw lots of wildlife -whales, dolphins and even a sea turtle. There were lots of kids (school holidays).
