The room is clean. Noting else. The hotel charge $35 for self parking. But the parking is very limited. Not worth the money. Daily Resort fee of $40... I guess so you have the right to actually use the resort you rented a room in??? and $35 a day to park the rental car required to reach their resort? Just tell me upfront how much a day it's going to cost and let me make the decision if I want to stay there or not. And the parking... they don't have enough spaces to accommodate their lodging guests on nights when they have their (very loud) Luau. So... if you arrive back to your room between 6pm and 8:30pm (like after going to dinner) forget it, you get to either use their valet parking for an additional $40 on top of the $35 you've already paid or parking way up the hill in a lot not easily accessible. They don't even let you know the amount the taxes will be until you've checked out. Not a fan of the Royal Lahaina Resort.

We upgraded to an oceanfront room with a great lanai; great for whale watching and viewing the sunset. The grounds are beautiful, and it was just a few steps to the ocean on one of our favorite beaches. The room was huge with lots of storage and a decent bed. Yes, the furnishings are outdated and the flooring needs to be changed, but we were very comfortable. It's very serene except during the nightly luau next door, but we did learn a lot of Mauian history and listened to lots of Hawaiian music without attending. With warm-up, it is full on from 5 - 8 pm. Nearby restaurants were great.

The grounds around the property were lovely, as was the beach. The fitness center was serviceable, and we used it several times. The zumba class was a lot of fun, and I'm glad i took it! Alton is a hoot! Unfortunately, the Ocean Inn was very disappointing. It is a very old building, which i have no problem with, as long as it is clean. However, as we walked up the stairs to our room, the hallways smelled musty, and there were mold spots on the ceiling from water damage (these were painted over while we were there, hopefully with mold- killing paint). In our room, it was obvious that this part of the property had been neglected. There were coffee stains dribbling down the door. Inside, I found a receipt that wasn't ours under the bed. When I took a shower the first time, there was a large black ball of hair on the wall of the shower (were blonde).The light fixtures have years of dust on them, both in the shower/toilet room as well as looking up into the lighting over the sink.There were tiny ants on the entertainment center, on the counter(looked like coming through the outlet) by the Keurig, and in the vanity sink outside the bathroom. I mentioned these to the front desk, and the woman working there acted like it wasn't a big deal. They said they sprayed, but we still saw them by the coffee maker. I could look up from the shower through the crack in the ceiling and see the ductwork. This building needs to be torn down or completely renovated.

The location is superb. I had an issue with the safe and when I called the front desk nobody answered. I had to go walk 150 meters at 11 PM to see he lobby. My room was not cleaned until 4:30 pm the first day. Not enjoy enough power outlets, old dirty safe, etc. Overall, it was OK, but The I expected more for the price I paid. But the access to the large beautiful beach was outstanding.

This hotel should be rated a 1-star and the rate should be at that level. To pay over $200 a night and have bugs, ants and roaches every night in the room is ridiculous. No microwave in the room, ok, but to not have one accessible anywhere on the property is terrible. Water faucets in the shower were mislabeled and broken as well. If you're desperate for a place to stay I guess you can waste your money. I won't ever again.

my first night walking in i saw a cockroach crawl under another hotel rooms door. went into my room and the floors were very dusty and dirty. went out to the balcony where i saw another small cockroach. other then that it was good the staff was nice and helpful and it’s in a convenient spot

We anticipated this place would be ‘average’ standard but was far worse Than could imagine. We booked king room and got a twin (we’re on honeymoon..!) Our 3rd floor room had ants everywhere - reception did come and spray but left all the dead insects over every surface. Mold on shower ceiling and down the wall, and broken taps and cracker floor tiles. Old sunken mattress Missing balcony furniture $35 + tax to park your car Noisy rooms - above the nightly Luau (another one to avoid). Beach okay and hotel property grounds are lovely.

We were only at the property for about 10 hours as we needed a place to stay prior to being picked up at 2 am for Haleakala. Soon after getting to the room, we spotted a cockroach that got under the carpet. A luau was in progress, so there was music and pounding right outside our balcony for several hours as we tried to get some sleep. Upon waking, a couple more cockroaches were spotted. We were relieved to be checking out. As we were running late for the 2 am shuttle, we did not have an opportunity to discuss this with the staff.

Overall - should take it out with a wrecking ball. So deteriorated. Carpets stained. Dirty. Glass not cleaned well. Hallways stink. Sliding doors to closets and lanai barely functioning. Painted plywood cabinets. Dated (60's at best). I've stayed in Motel 6's nicer than this. View was the ONLY plus but I had to upgrade to get it. They should have comped me. I only saw two other guests there in 3 days. Ghost town atmosphere. Also - the room was right next to the Luau venue so I had to endure 3 nights of loud music and narrative. Even with airpods in and movie going, I couldn't shut out the noise. This place is a dump. Don't spend your money here.

Horrible. Do not stay here. We needed a last-minute hotel due to our flight being delayed so we booked this Inn for the night to save some money. Bad decision! Ants crawling on the counter, sand in the shower, mold on the ceiling of the shower, weird smell, super uncomfortable bed, and very loud. Just spend the extra money and stay away from this place.

This is Lao unfortunate. One night in Maui and we are put in this dungeonous room in what looks like a condemned building behind the actual resort. Most of the room around us are gutted out. Moldy smelling room unclean bathroom floors. Noisy close to outdoor kitchen and event location.

The only good part about this room was we paid extra to have an ocean front room. The rooms were very old and the Luau could be heard every night very loud over your tv in your room. We were several rooms down and the music was so loud every night. At the end the resort put a hold on our debt card for the room amount and then also charged us the amount for the room. So we were charged twice and told the first amount would be back in 15 business days. The beauty of Maui is what will bring us back not this resort.

This place is a dump! They have nerve selling this as a resort. The beds both had deep depressions in the center. The showerhead sprayed everywhere, incorrectly installed. When we pulled in, I said to the valet, please give me a minute to put my cameras in their cases, it will take a minute or two. His response was no - one of you checkin, one of you stay with your luggage! I've never been spoken to like that by any service person in any hotel. Gets better. While waiting to check in, the desk clerk did EVERYTHING but check me in. The only good part about this room was we paid extra to have an ocean front room. The rooms were very old and the Luau could be heard every night very loud over your tv in your room. We were several rooms down and the music was so loud every night. At the end the resort put a hold on our debt card for the room amount and then also charged us the amount for the room. So we were charged twice and told the first amount would be back in 15 business days. The beauty of Maui is what will bring us back not this resort.

The location is superb. I had an issue with the safe and when I called the front desk nobody answered. I had to go walk 150 meters at 11 PM to see he lobby. My room was not cleaned until 4:30 pm the first day. Not enjoy enough power outlets, old dirty safe, etc. Overall, it was OK, but The I expected more for the price I paid. But the access to the large beautiful beach was outstanding.

We booked 2 nights at the Kaanapali Ocean Inn, with the intention of extending our stay as long as it met our expectations. I'm so glad that we didn't book the entire stay upfront!! When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk attendant informed us that they had overbooked the room that we were supposed to be staying in. So instead, we would be staying in a bungalow at their sister hotel, The Royal Lahaina. The problem with a bungalow is, that everytime someone walks by, they peer into the windows. As a woman, this felt especially creepy. So we could never leave our curtains open, instead living in complete darkness. The beach was a ten minute walk away, when the front desk agent assured us that it would only be a minute's walk. We commented that we wanted to stay in the hotel that we actually booked, and were told that they only had oceanfront rooms available, and that if we wanted to stay in one of those rooms, we'd have to pay an upgrade fee. How ridiculous!! They were the ones who overbooked!! The bungalow itself was old, run down, and smelled musty. There was hair all over the shower wall. The only good thing I can say is that the bed was comfortable. Don't waste your time and money. Find somewhere else. Thanks for ruining our vacation.

Originally on reservation we had 2 people but they charged $40 fee a day for the second person on top of original price.
