Hotel-Restaurant Horizon Ath-Lessines

Room was mostly clean. Had to wash what appeared to be soap from the sink which leads me to believe they at least started to clean it, but not certain the toilet seat was cleaned since I wiped a stain off it. The rest of the room and linens were clean. The restaurant was decent. Not amazing, not terrible. A convenience in a small town after a long day. Wait staff was nice, though he did ask if we had a reservation?!? This is like a holiday inn with a restaurant in a small town with virtually no restaurants. Any expectation that we need a reservation was shocking - and furthermore if that is the expectation it should be clearly communicated on the hotel listing. We watching them turn away a group of six for this reason (even though only four tables were being used) but we got a table, so whatever. Just weird. Breakfast was good. The key reader for our door didn’t work. Had to go down and get a new key. Receptionist walked up to make sure it worked. It was slow but responded. After dinner had to get one again. Key was completely separate from anything that might have impacted it. Asked receptionist again. At first he told me try again it works. But then he came up. It did not work and he had to use his master key. Not a huge deal but interesting. It was nice enough. Clean enough. Convenient enough. Nothing to write home about, but just don’t expect much.

Stayed in December during our visit to Pairi Daiza and Brugge. We stayed in a clean, spacious room and if you didn’t get it cleaned for a day you’d get a bar voucher. The reception staff were very polite and helpful. We got to breakfast quite late in the morning so lots of the food had run out. Managed to catch the smoked salmon on one out of the two days. There’s a do it yourself egg station for boiling eggs which I thought was quite cute, but you must keep an eye on your egg so no one nabs it lol! The restaurant is closed on Sunday, but we ate there on the Saturday evening. The server was very unfriendly and you could tell he didn’t want to be there. The food was ok, no complaints. The hotel is also in the middle of nowhere, but we would stay again if en route somewhere.

Stayed for 2 nights. Rooms were not cleaned during the day. We had booked a room for 3 people so a spare bed was added to the room. No extra pillow are toweös though. Bedlinen had holes. Breakfast was very basic. Many tables were not clean and staff were nowhere to be seen. Staff at the reception were very friendly.

It was a very convenient stay for us going to Pairi daiza. Good value for money.
