Hôtel fort joli, sur la rue la plus animée de Coimbra. Notre chambre ne donnait pas sur la rue et c’était donc malgré tout très calme, sauf peut-être quand des gens marchaient dans les escaliers. La terrasse commune sur le toit était coquette et permettait de boire son café le matin avec une belle vue sur la ville. Tout se faisait très bien à pied à partir de l’hôtel. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour!

The guesthouse was in a great location in the Old Town. It had an interesting lobby with character and the rooms were lovely. They offered a small area for self service of coffee and muffins off the lobby. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. Walking score was exceptional. Would highly recommend!

This historic building is in a perfect location to visit Coimbra. The amenities are sparse so if location is more important than luxury then this is the place for you.

This was a fantastic find. The property is very unique and memorable with the old pharmacy decor. It is very well located in the old town on the pedestrian street (you do have a short walk with luggage to get to the location). The room was relatively spacious for a European hotel room and very comfortable. I was concerned about noise from the pedestrian street but the shutters were sound proofed and we had no issue with noise. I would encourage any tourist to Coimbra to look at this property for a stay. Coffee, small muffins and apples were available. Although the guest house operates primarily through guests receiving and using codes to the front door and bedrooms, and so we didn’t have a lot of contact with staff, the staff we did meet were very friendly and helpful with recommendations for dining and tourist sites.

GuestHouse com localização perfeita, em um prédio histórico, mas totalmente renovado e modernizado. Quarto amplo, cama confortável, banheiro com bom tamanho e ótimo chuveiro, amenidades de boa qualidade e recepcionista ( só em parte do dia) muito educado e solícito! Apesar do prédio ser antigo, tem elevador no local e a entrada do prédio fica a poucos passos do ponto de desembarque na rua só para pedestres. Em uma próxima vez em Coimbra, retornarei ao Pharmacia!

My wife loved the property. The lobby as you enter from the street is very unique and interesting. It had a nice kitchenette on the main floor. The location is central to the tourist area of Coimbra. Overall it was a nice stay.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of everything, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. The property itself is charming, with the unique character and ambiance of a vintage pharmacy that adds so much personality to the experience. Added benefits were an elevator, a rooftop with incredible views, and nice hot shower. Juan at the front desk was exceptional—so helpful, friendly, and full of fantastic dinner recommendations. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

The hotel was a former pharmacy. We really enjoyed that they left the storefront in its original condition. It was like a little museum. Parking was an issue. Not convenient and very expensive. The breakfast options were basically non existent. The rooftop lounge was very nice

It was a good place to stay for a few days. It’s right in the middle of center city and you can walk to the main sites and restaurants. It’s a historical building that used to be a pharmacy so that’s cool. However I would not stay there longer than a couple days and next time we plan to stay in somewhere that offers in room refrigerator and not historical. There is a tiny common kitchen but it’s not convenient. It’s also set up for you to enter and exit on your own with no front desk person most of the time.

This was the worst experience in my several visits to Portugal. I arrived to find the hotel locked in the late afternoon. I rang the doorbell several times and no one responded. I called the phone number on the window and a male staff member answered. I told him I was there to check in and he told I could not as I did not have a reservation. If I had I should have access code . I informed him I was not given one I had a confirmation number for the reservation. Again he denied I had a reservation. At this stage I am frustrated. He says he will call me right back. 10 mins later no response I called him 3 times no answer. Text him and all I get back is hi, I text him I need the code to get in and eventually he gives it to me. To add to the situation the bathroom was not cleaned properly previous guest hair was in the shower tray and on bathroom fixtures. Clothes from a previous guest in closet. As for soundproof they might want to remove that from their description I would highly recommended noise canceling EarPods for the internal noise in the hotel. Better yet do yourself a favor find another hotel.

Great location and interesting property history. The room was clean with the exception of the main rug being stained. The toilet seat was askew and flimsy. The bedside lamp was unstable and inexpensive. So much is going for this property. With a little upgrade on room interiors and details we would rate it 5 stars.

Loved everything about the property. There was no real good place for us and a couple we were traveling with to get together and share stories about our trip or have a drink besides the rooftop terrace. It rained everyday while we were there. We had a very nice room, clean and very comfortable.

It is on a lively and vibrant pedestrianised street, minutes from shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Open the balcony doors and you are in the midst of Coimbra However, shut the double-glazed doors and “presto”, all is quiet and restful. It is the best of both worlds.

This was an excellent property. Centrally located. Clean and comfortable. Only negative is we couldn't figure out how to work the A/C remote and the staff didn't know either. But I would definitely stay here again.

Music was blasted until 1:00 a.m. The rooms don't have AC which would be okay but the fans provided in the room where all broken and the only way to stay cool was to keep the window open. The music they were blasting outside was so loud it made it impossible to sleep. We informed the front desk and they said they were unable to help us and that the room is non-refundable. These conditions were unacceptable and we ended up checking out early and losing out on two nights and finding a different hotel to sleep in. I highly recommend saving your money and going somewhere else.

This was a beautifully restored building. Modern rooms with terrific amenities nestled in an elegantly restored apothecary on one of the main pedestrian streets in Coimbra. Would return to this place again in a heartbeat!

Very charming boutique hotel occupying the space of an old pharmacy, thus the name. The lobby still has many of the old compounds in their original glass jars lightly back lit giving the room a warm glow. Very welcoming. The room was very nice. Large bed with a comfortable spring mattress. Importantly the shower was great—strong water pressure and warm water. Staff was friendly and helpful. Suggested some excellent restaurants and we can confirm they know their local area.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The location was great. João was there to greet us at check in and was very helpful throughout our stay. He's a tremendous asset to the hotel. We briefly met the owner when he came one afternoon and we wish him well in his endeavour. I'd definitely stay there again.

Upon our arrival, our experience was completely unacceptable. We waited hours to get into our room only to discover a wet floor dripping from the ceiling over the toilet (surely they knew but gave us the room anyhow). We alerted staff and then waited a long time to find out we could not be accommodated with a functional clean room. We were told they\'d take care of us however, to no avail. We were told a hotel 800 meters away could not accommodate us but decided to call directly and they took our reservation. We felt we were lied to. We booked Pharmacy Guest House due to its 9.6 "Exceptional" review. The toxic odor in the common area toilet mode us nauseous, the amenities sparse and based on the rating program, perhaps Expedia needs to be reevaluated. All in all, it was a terrible experience and because of such, we were late for pre-purchased tickets to an area attraction we had expressly come to Coimbra to visit. The Pharmacia is an excellent hotel in a nice location to tour Coimbra. All instructions were helpful as I arrived later in the evening. My room was much bigger than I expected and was very comfortable. Juan was very god at helping me with questions and he walked me to the Coimbra B train station bus.

Comfortable and clean but could have used towel replacement only we never saw anyone who worked there. Never got the codes to access the property or our room, but luckily someone was coming out as we were arriving and there were contact phone numbers in the lobby.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of everything, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. The property itself is charming, with the unique character and ambiance of a vintage pharmacy that adds so much personality to the experience. Added benefits were an elevator, a rooftop with incredible views, and nice hot shower. Juan at the front desk was exceptional—so helpful, friendly, and full of fantastic dinner recommendations. Very charming boutique hotel occupying the space of an old pharmacy, thus the name. The lobby still has many of the old compounds in their original glass jars lightly back lit giving the room a warm glow. Very welcoming. The room was very nice. Large bed with a comfortable spring mattress. Importantly the shower was great—strong water pressure and warm water. Staff was friendly and helpful. Suggested some excellent restaurants and we can confirm they know their local area.

This is an excellently located property, So perfect for a visit to the Coimbra University which is just up the very steep street. We loved this historical hotel. All check in is done virtually so please, read the instructions they send you before arrival all the information is there and it is simple and accurate. They give you a code both for the front door and for your room. The room looked onto the beatiful main street, and walking around town was very easy. climbing to the University can be challenging but so worth it and the center of town is just steps from the hotel. Take advantage of the one-hour city tour 'train' that starts on the center square of the University.

Hôtel fort joli, sur la rue la plus animée de Coimbra. Notre chambre ne donnait pas sur la rue et c’était donc malgré tout très calme, sauf peut-être quand des gens marchaient dans les escaliers. La terrasse commune sur le toit était coquette et permettait de boire son café le matin avec une belle vue sur la ville. Tout se faisait très bien à pied à partir de l’hôtel. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour!

Great location. Very large room. Staff were super helpful with AC problem. You will not regret booking this hotel. If you have mobility issues, you may struggle getting your luggage down the street since its a pedestrian only street.

The guesthouse was in a great location in the Old Town. It had an interesting lobby with character and the rooms were lovely. They offered a small area for self service of coffee and muffins off the lobby. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. Walking score was exceptional. Would highly recommend!

This was a fantastic find. The property is very unique and memorable with the old pharmacy decor. It is very well located in the old town on the pedestrian street (you do have a short walk with luggage to get to the location). The room was relatively spacious for a European hotel room and very comfortable. I was concerned about noise from the pedestrian street but the shutters were sound proofed and we had no issue with noise. I would encourage any tourist to Coimbra to look at this property for a stay. Coffee, small muffins and apples were available. Although the guest house operates primarily through guests receiving and using codes to the front door and bedrooms, and so we didn’t have a lot of contact with staff, the staff we did meet were very friendly and helpful with recommendations for dining and tourist sites.

The hotel was a former pharmacy. We really enjoyed that they left the storefront in its original condition. It was like a little museum. Parking was an issue. Not convenient and very expensive. The breakfast options were basically non existent. The rooftop lounge was very nice

A very nice property located right on the main street of Coimbra. The room was comfortable and clean. Parking was a little tricky because the free lot across the river (a 10 min walk) was closed for Saturday for a special event, but we just parked on the street on that side.

Location of this hotel was the best part - right on the main street, close to everything, and easy to get to. The main lobby was unique and looked the old pharmacy it used to be and the rooftop patio was nice place to take pictures and spend some time. The room itself was comfortable, though could have used some renovations. While the shower was larger than other hotels we stayed at in Portugal, the sealant could have be replaced as it was a bit grungy. The room was at the back of the building and on the 4th floor so it was quiet, except for we could hear the people in the room above us walking around. Staff were responsive online and let us check in an hour early, which was appreciated. Still good value for money though.
