Saddleback Inn at Lake Arrowhead

We were assigned to a room on second floor. No elevator. We had to carry our bags up a flight of stairs. We are 80 and husband uses a cane to walk. They should have advised me of the stairs when I made the reservation. I never would have booked it.

First I’d like to say the staff is super friendly. Karen is very nice, helpful and really cares about her guests and the property. The restaurant, for “dinner only” on weekdays was excellent! Good food and good service! Those details are 5 stars. My reason for 3 stars is because of the “extortion fee….sorry, “resort fee”. It’s so very wrong to charge a guest when you enter to check in. $30 for what? There’s no pool that needs help paying for maintenance. No breakfast. The mid tier king room overlooks a 7/11 with a raucous parking lot. We heard all kinds of vocal interactions all night long. So definitely not a “Resort”. Weekday guests that are charged this fee get no breakfast. It’s literally a fee for absolutely nothing and it really made me feel like I wasn’t welcome. Just a wallet. Also…the lake…Lake Arrowhead is a private lake for the uber wealthy homeowners. You can’t even dip a toe in the lake. And the downtown retail/restaurant district is being renovated and it looks as if the construction has halted. We were there on 2 weekdays and saw no one working. This review is dated 8/11-12/2025. Like I said. The staff is great. Even our cabin was nice. I was just completely soured by the “resort fee”. This place is definitely NOT a resort. So to demand $30 upon check in after you already paid for the stay, wasn’t very nice, at all. Stop doing that…at least on a weekday when you don’t offer a breakfast. Shady.

Great location. Very nice rooms. Continental breakfast is now being offered. Walking distance to the Village. Nice restaurant on premises.

Dog friendly place.

Came to town for the weekend to do some house hunting and the room was basic. Clean, but a lot of deferred maintenance in the room and bath (probably because of the age). We are older, so the steep stairs to our upstairs room with luggage was not a good experience... Nice staff. Good restaurant. Go for a cottage or downstairs unit.

Very cute and quaint cottage in the mountains. There is a restaurant/ bar in the same building as the hotel lobby. Conveniently located within walking distance to the lake. I would definitely go back again for a longer stay as my visit was short.

It was very well kept, great condition of the cottages, the hot water never ran out, rooms were spacious, parking lot was convenient and clean, and staff was very helpful and nice.

Nice property close to the Lake Arrowhead Village with ample parking. Comfortable room with good amenities. Decent breakfast options, although coffee wasn’t hot - I had to buy my coffee in the end at the 7-11 across the parking lot. The Lake Arrowhead Village has lost many shops, so there are fewer shopping options than before. Food options are better.

They charge a $30 resort fee but don’t have a pool, gym or any other amenities. The resort is “the parking lot” For this reason we will never return. It’s a blatant ripoff.

The property is beautiful but right on the road. I would not recommend this for people with walking issues. We had to carry our bags up many flights of stairs. The rooms are clean, comfortable and charming.

The property was nice and overall very clean. The check in process was really smooth and very friendly. The only complaint is the bath tub was not very clean. There was hair in the drain and on the side of the tub and the jets had mold and mildew. It could use a really good steam clean maybe replacement. Otherwise the place was comfortable and very cute. Can’t wait to go back again. Hopefully the tub cleanliness issue is addressed for future stays.

I understand that it is a very old property and for obvious reasons the facilities will be old, but what bothered me was the lack of cleanliness, the size of the room did not correspond to the images shown on the platform, the description mentioned that it had certain things I didn't had to request them personally, as well as the cleaning of the room, which they didn't do either, there was a lack of toilet paper and the breakfast said continental and it was only fruit, bread and coffee.

Didn’t eat at the hotel, because the restaurant was very expensive compared to other restaurants in town. Not bad, but probably wouldn’t stay again.

Very great welcoming staff! Loved the old style hotel, rooms were very clean and cozy. Would stay again if in the area. Great location to everything.

The only thing nice about the room was the sheets. Bed was clean. The room was unclean and the electrical appliances did not have enough outlets. Ac did not work and it was located outside of the room so if you locked the door, the hallway would have been cool but not in your room. Turns out the ac was not plugged in and the extension cord was missing.There was a 9 inch heater on top of the mini fridge and the gas fire place was making a noise. There were 4 items that needed to be plugged in with only one outlet. Wifi was not useable for my laptop. Lastly, becare walking from your room to the village, no crosswalk so you have run across the highway.

Shower was clogged and never drained. Housekeeping left dirty towels in downstairs bath. They only had 1 cable box remote with 2 different TVs. Place is very outdated would not recommend.

First of all, the outside of our cottage needed to be power washed down and swept. Too many cobwebs, dry leaves, etc around. We suggest an BBQ grill. Outside maintenance needs to be paid attention to. The living room was nice and spacious for three people. We wished there was a full kitchen though, with a stove and full size fridge. Nice that there was a 1/2 bath upstairs. Going up and down would have been a pain. I was not pleased at all by the scent of the bed sheets!!! Had a bad, stale aroma. It wasn’t fresh smelling at all, so that bothered me. These issues are really minor, but should be addressed to management so folks who read these reviews are positive all around.

Our suite was really nice, felt like our own little cabin. Jacuzzi tub was really warm and cozy on a cold fall night. We ate at the restaurant and i had the best baked rigatoni I've ever had! We will definitely stay again, loved it. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Essentially, you are renting a cabin. It’s not a hotel or an inn. It was clean and the room/cabin had the basic amenities needed. The floor sloped, so I felt I was on a ship. The bed was uncomfortably soft, so even my wife (who loves soft beds) could not sleep. The heater, on the second night, took on a life of its own and blew hot air even when I turned it off or turned it to to cold air out of desperation!

This place was super cute and cozy. We opted for one of the smaller rooms but it came with a fireplace and hot tub. Pet friendly with staff that was super sweet to my dog. It's like a cute little town of it's own, clean and quaint. Its great they have a bar and restaurants as an option and 7-11 next door that's open 24/7. Walking distance to the shops by the lake. Loved it and would stay here again.

This review is for room #30. The room is large. Unfortunately the room next to us(#31) is divided by a thin door where you can link the two rooms together. The man coughing all night. Right above us, when people walk, we can hear the squeaking sound. Not a good room if you are sensitive to sound from next door or above. The lady who checked us is was very friendly. The room was Ok. The breakfast was just food. The location was great.

Cute rooms, but very thin walls. We could hear the guy below our room snoring all night. Also not enough hot water for a shower. I like the continental breakfast.

It’s a beautiful area and property. It’s definitely old and there was old odor to it, but that wasn’t a deal breaker. Only thing that didn’t work was TVs. It would be nice to place a system that’s easy to navigate to use. Also one of the foldable bed was not usable, so three of us has to sleep in the king bed and one slept on one of the folding beds. Overall nice cute room.

We will definitely be back. Kindness stemmed from the front desk, general management to maintenance - everyone was so helpful And personable and the accommodations were so clean and warm. Upon their recommendation, the restaurant was also hands down the best. Thank you for all the help and guidance (with chains and snow management!) loved our stay! Thank you!!

I was given a room with a bunch of insects that look like termites with wings. Michael was professional and caring to change my room to a better room without the bugs.

This place is wonderful,all amenities were in perfect condition.The front desk stuff was very very nice, polite, helpful. We had some issues with the restoránt,and bought Restoránt Manager and Hotel manager help us to resolve it. I hardly recommend this property

This is a cute and clean Inn, if you’re looking for a place to just sleep and shower while you’re either out exploring Lake arrowhead or working out there. I would consider coming here. It’s very quiet and cozy. The prices are great, and the employees are extremely polite and kind. It is part of the restaurant which they give you a coupon you can use for 20% off your bill. Also it’s located next to a 7/11, walking distance.

This is a super adorable place and the little village its in is absolutely adorable. Anything you’d want within walking distance, or can drive/take a shuttle to surrounding villages. Would visit again!

The hotel was clean and had a nice vintage feel (some amenities felt slightly outdated). Employees were friendly. Walking distance to the village. Overall nice place to stay.

This was a nice place to stay in. Check in was very easy. I did not like the fact they didn't provide a bottle of water. Also DO NOT attempt to eat at the property's restaurant food is terrible and expensive. There's fast food restaurants and dining areas at the village that are worth to try.

Super cute rooms with fireplaces and soaking tubs. Lots of charm, and the best restaurant on the first floor. Seriously the best pot pie I’ve ever had. The restaurant and bar team were so friendly and gave amazing service!

There was a lovely little bar and restaurant downstairs. The menu was excellent. Food was delicious and service was A+!

The restaurant was amazing, wish I could eat there every day. Lake Arrowhead Village was a 5 minute walk. The complimentary breakfast was lackluster, should be described as a continental breakfast as there were no hot dishes available. The cottage itself was ok but furnishings & carpets were dates & need a refresh. Staff was very nice.

The room we stayed in was outdated, the bed was small and uncomfortable (spring mattress) the floor was slanted, the continental breakfast didn't start until 8:15 am, for the early risers and travelers that doesn't work. overall I would not stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent food and service at their restaurant as well.

Not great for anything Bad breakfast option

The continental breakfast was really bad. When you have it in the package, you set an expectation. Unfortunately, the breakfast was a big disappointment before check-out.
