The hotel staff were nice and helpful, including the daily at reception, housekeeping and bar. Check in was a bit clunky as we arrived after midnight (delayed flight), sadly a request for milk for our toddler declined (I’m sure they would have had some rest for breakfast the next morning!) and no concierge/ offer to help us with our suitcases at any stage from taxi to room. The hotel interior felt a bit dated throughout the room including the shower curtain and windows transmitted a lot of the noise from the road including the fire trucks from the nearby depot. On the plus side there’s a fridge in the room, morning coffee and water refills. Pool was pretty good. Hotel is nearby walk to the shopping centr (3-4 mins), theriver (5-6 mins), navy pier (20 mins) and underground station (1 min). Overall it was nice but nothing to write home about and wouldn’t stay again given the noise.

Something on the bedding had a food smell, maybe the pillow itself not the pillowcase. The room was clean overall but the extra features on the TV did not work so we could not order a movie. The pool was small but nice overall, as was the rooftop terrace. The service was polite but impersonal and rushed. The porters were smoking cigarettes just outside the non-smoking outdoor seating area and the smoke smell drifted in. The valet was very friendly and welcoming on both arrival and departure; her name began with K. I was disappointed that it took over 35 minutes for the vehicle to be retrieved, but I do not blame the valet person for this; I suspect they were understaffed.

I had an unfortunate situation where my flight was canceled and I couldn’t make it to Chicago due to flash flooding in NY. Johnnie and Beyoncé the staff there were accommodating to me and waived the late checkout fee, and other fees. It didn’t cover the entire cost of my one night but it helped a lot. My only issue with the hotel is maybe due to its location it is a bit noisy. I would have liked a quieter stay at the same time it’s close to everything. Despite this I would stay there again. Whenever I travel to Chicago though I usually stay at different hotels,
