JUFA Hotel Altaussee

If you’re looking for affordable accommodation close to Hallstatt without paying Hallstatt prices, JUFA Hotel Altaussee is a reasonable choice, particularly for families with children. The location is excellent, surrounded by beautiful scenery, and the hotel offers good family-friendly facilities. (JUFA Hotels⁠) That said, manage your expectations. The rooms are clean but very basic, and on the small side. They are perfectly adequate for a short stay but lack the comfort and character you might expect from a holiday hotel. Our biggest disappointment was the dining experience. On arrival, we were told that dinner was fully booked, despite the restaurant appearing almost empty. We were advised that bar food was available, but the only options were three varieties of overpriced frozen pizza. As the hotel is quite isolated, going elsewhere for dinner wasn’t really practical. It would have been extremely helpful if guests were informed in advance that dinner needs to be pre-booked. The breakfast buffet was plentiful with a good selection, but nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant itself could also have benefited from a more thorough clean, as the windows were noticeably dusty. Overall, this is a practical, budget-friendly base for exploring Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut. It offers good value for families who prioritise location over luxury, but don’t expect a premium hotel experience.

The hotel is fantastic for its category, with a great location once you arrive. It’s a little far from the main road, but absolutely worth the drive. The receptionist I met was excellent — very helpful, polite, well‑mannered, and accommodating. The hotel offers a good breakfast and has a beautiful outdoor seating area with mountain views. I stayed in room 211, which had comfortable bedding and a clean bathroom with a nice standing shower. I would definitely stay here again and hope to get a front‑facing room next time for an even better view.

Hotel in absolute Ruhelage mit tollem Ausblick. Frühstück hervorragend! Wirklich alles vorhanden und sehr lecker! Zimmer war groß genug, Betten bequem. Wellnessbereich auch gut, Kräuter- und Finnische Sauna, Infrarotkabine. Für einen Kurzurlaub zum Wandern perfekt!

Bra boende. Personalen var hjälpsamma när det hade blivit fel på vår bokning o h gav en viss rabatt, det var uppskattat. Ganska slitna lokaler, men ett rimligt bra alternativ.
