Wingate by Wyndham Canton-Hall of Fame

Water damage hole in the hallway ceiling, Ice machine is leaking with water left on the floor and one towel sitting soaked in it. Gym only has a treadmill, step machine that doesn't stay on and an elliptical. Treadmill only stays on if the outlet is working. Window in room is broken and they placed tape over it and there is spider/mouse stick pads under the sink and in the cabinets/drawers. It smells of weed every where you walk inside, and parking lot had glass pieces every where. Pool also has been down, we were told, for many months. Broken and chipped furniture in rooms.

We were disappointed in our stay at Wingate. The front desk was great but the hotel is very tired with poorly lit hallways. Our room was a disappointment to be a Wyndham facility. When we walked in the door to our room there was a bed in front of us along with a partial wall. There was a dresser and TV in front of the wall with minimum space to get around. The bathroom was tiny. The kitchen had a frig and micro but no utensils to use. The pool was very cold and there was no hot tub. All in all we were disappointed with this hotel.

Assuming this property is either getting ready to remodel or close. Everything was out of order: ice, water fountain soda machine. Rug was filthy as evidenced by little mud puddles coming off my feet in the dangerously warped and wobbly tub. Mirrors, tv smudged. My bad for not reading the reviees. Have considered a reputable brand in the past. Breakfast was solid and ad expected. PS. Parking lot is fullnof pit holes and a lot of temporary construction workers stay there. It is cheap, too.

Our door was missing the latch to lock the door. The shower head and tub faucet never stopped dripping. The tub had stains. Ceiling in the ‘bathroom’ was missing part of a cover for the vent/fan. There were visible cracks in the ceiling due to what i’m assuming was water damage based on the stains over the bed. Our bed sheet was inside out when we pulled the covers off to check the bed. We had lights that were inoperable. The pool area was dimly lit, no towels, and there seems to be no ventilation in the area. The staff was kind. Free morning breakfast appeared to be good but I stuck to coffee. The outside door to the parking lot did not latch. You get what you pay for.

The pool was VERY run down!! The room door was broke and no extra bedding in the room for the pull out sofa. The hallways smelled of smoke and weed

Tired & shopworn. Looks like from the 80s, needs a facelift. Pool was ‘closed for maintenance’ looks like for months. The hot tub could be seen in pool area, it was a hole in deck covered with black plastic. Our bed was supposed to be a queen, was clearly a full with a hard mattress. Bad nights sleep. Closet rod hanging loose, poorly installed. Toilet tank had lost its lid and was replaced by one that clearly was way too big. Outside, piece of gutter fallen off. No one cleared snow or put down ice melt, while neighboring businesses were cleared up. Cleanliness was ok, staff polite. To me looks like owners are mining value out of property by putting absolute minimum into it possible. Not up to standards for the chain, I wouldn’t be surprised if lost franchise.

The shower had no water pressure and I cant use a tub. The elevator floors were filthy as were the glass doors and such. This stay was horrible. I stayed there because they had s hot tub and we couldnt use it because it was down for maintenance

The staff is professional, courteous and kind. The property itself is in disrepair. Large sticky Stains on the hallway carpets, pool water is cloudy, pool area is rusted with peeling paint. The hot tub is not working and the plywood and traffic cone coveting the tub indicates it has not functioned for a long period of time. Alarm clock in the room did not work, the in room phone does not work. Poor patch work on the walks and ceiling from previous damage. Litter around the building exterior.

Upon pulling in to the parking lot go slow, you will be greeted with huge potholes surrounding the property. The lobby and breakfast area were clean, but going back the hallway the vending machines were out of service, the trash cans were overflowing from the time we checked and still had not been emptied at checkout. The side door with a security scanner was broken and propped open. The 3rd level floor was extremely dirty. The room appeared clean but very outdated. There were 4 people in our party but we were only given 2 towels and told that they didn’t have any extra. The towels that we did have were damp. I’m not sure if it was due to not being dried properly or due to the extreme humidity in the room.

The place is what it is, a reasonably priced olace to sleep in a city that can charge youvan arm and a leg for just that. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, the elevator was out so we had to use the stairs. The pool was great and a perfect respite after a long day, but the hotctub is forever broken or so we were told

Originally booked for 4 nights left after night 2. We were getting bit by bedbugs. The pictures of the pool were beautiful but in person it was a hot box no air flow. Needs some updating

The property had an unpleasant smell upon arrival. Once checked in, the actual room wasn’t any better. The first room we were in was not cleaned properly, ants everywhere and the toilet seat looked so disgusting my 7 year old daughter refused to use it. We were then moved to a second room. We left to enjoy our day and when we returned to the room we found a bed bug crawling on top of the comforter. I can only imagine how many were under there. The pool area was just as bad. The photo used must be an old one after it was built. The whole room was rusted and overall disgusting. I will never stay here again and I recommend that no one does.

The property was covered in trash. The bed and the shower were both covered in hair. The staff was nice but condition of the room and grounds were terrible

The staff was great but the bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned; hairs in the bathtub and on the toilet.

If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would. This was hands down the worst hotel experience of my life. I walked into the room and was immediately horrified to see blood on the floor. The bathroom was filthy, hair all over the shower, grime everywhere, and to top it all off, there was a pair of someone else’s dirty underwear shoved behind the toilet. This is not an over exaggeration, dirty underwear. It was obvious that no cleaning had been done at ALL. They claimed room service had been provided which is a complete joke. Handing someone a towel while everything else remained untouched is NOT room service. The room smelled of rot and mold, and there was even food smeared on the window. I’ve never felt more disgusted. While trying to reach out to hotel management on this issue, we never received any replies and upon checking out was still left amazed that no one seemed to care about the issues noted. Avoid at all costs.

This Hotel was extremely dirty. I was surprised! There were ants in my room as well as mold in the bathroom. The privacy door was broken and the staff that was responsible for cleaning the rooms smelled so bad that the hallways and elevator reeked during the morning hours. I was afraid to complain because someone I know complained a day before and they were thrown out of the hotel. I had 3 kids with me and would have had nowhere else to stay.

Bathroom, tub and sink areas were filthy. There was hair and dirt on the bathroom floor and tub, weeks of scum on the faucets and trash left on the counter from the previous guest. Needless to say, I didn't enter that bathroom without shoes on and I skipped a much-needed shower. I have no intention of returning to this location.

The manager on duty was not paying attention when checking me in and forgot to give me my license back and almost gave it to another guest. The first floor hallway reeked of marijuana snd the hallways were dimly lit and the carpets were dirty. My room had a broken window that had benn crudely taped into place. The matresses were stained at the bottom, the kichen sink had stains, the refrigerator had crack inside the door, the shower had mold in top right corner and the carpet was dirty. This was the worst hotel stay I've ever experienced. The room was smelly and hot. I killed a couple of roaches in the room. The breakfast bar had ants crawling around. There was a gapping hole in the hallway ceiling, and they had a large garbage can sitting in the middle of the hallway catching the water that leaked from the hole. No wonder the room was cheap.

Room was in complete need of a remodel, the aux lock on the door was completely broken off, smallest bathroom barely usable. Unruly guests running around the property yelling and I can’t confirm but I am sure there was drug activity going on. Desk clerk was doing the best he could but you could tell he had just given up. Best thing they could do is tear it down and put up a slum, it would be an upgrade

Overall the room was comfortable but is in desperate need of repairs/renovations. We had a whirlpool suite that needed repairs to the tub and shower. The shower nozzel shot water everywhere but where it needed to go. Our window leaked when it rained. Also we only had one remote for two tvs. The staff was amazing and accommodating.

This is an old Ramada Inn… the parking lot was treacherous with potholes big enough to swallow a small child. The room had a very noisy A/C unit that did little to cool anything but kept me awake, many of the lights in the room did not work, and the bathtub had a shower head… but no way to operate it…so NO SHOWER!

There was still toothpaste spittle in the sink from the previous guest, which indicates that the room wasn't cleaned in the first place. The A/C in the room as was like a "jet engine" ... meaning it would start off slow and raise to a loud irritating noise and then whine itself back down.

The room did not look at all like the website. No couch, beds looked sad, the bathroom was closet sized. But the staff was helpful. Even the front door was busted.

Beds were comfortable. Kitchenette and small table made a nice area for the kids. Room could use an updating bathroom had multiple issues. Sink faced the beds making it difficult to get ready early in the morning without waking the kids. Pool area was outdated, and hot tub was taken out did not live up to the online pictures facility advertised.

The hotel was very run down, dark and smelled awful. Our room had broken outlets and light switches, the light in the bathroom got so hot we couldn't use it. The carpet in our room was very sticky in spots. Also when you got off the elevator on the second floor there was a hole in the floor under the carpet so I almost fell.

Booked a room with a Queen bed, was given a full. Hotel was noisy most of the evening. Bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Bathroom faucet dripped constantly. Good thing it was just a one night stay

We had a room for 4 ... only 2! Towels. We were told there were no towels available until 1pm! Checkout 11!! Unbelievable the room was set up with only 2 towels!!! It is a 2 bed suite! Plus broken drawer. Friday evening and only 1 employee at the desk super busy. Had to wait for ever for him to come back to the desk. He was polite ... definately understaffed. The area outside of the hotel covered with liter. Disgusting!

Staff was quick and efficient, while maintaining a friendly and welcoming manner. Room was clean and comfortable for short-term and long-term stay. There is much to do in the area that is walkable and short driving distances.

Shower head leaked not a good stream,didn't clean room or refresh towels. No TV channel list. Hot tub covered up, pool full but said closed under maintenance. Checked out day early still no email to get refund..

The beds were comfortable. The room wasn’t real clean but for the price i thought it was okay. We were on the ground level and the window was unlocked and messed up. Someone could have easily gotten into the room. We managed to repair the lock and lock it ourselves. We stayed 7 nights and I did not expect housekeeping daily but I did at least expect clean towels and the trash to be taken out daily. After a few days of no clean towels & the trash being built up & no restock on toilet paper, I asked them to please do it while we were gone to work. They did do it that day. Two days after of no restock, we were out of towels. I walked down one morning and asked for some towels and was told they were out. I got some pool towels for our showers that day. The next day, still no restock. When I went and asked for clean towels this time, I was told “if I have got them”. I let them know that they could send someone to our room to pick up 3 days worth of towels & wash them. No one ever came back to our room, we checked out and moved hotels. Not terrible conditions but not great and the hospitality service was lacking.

We had a really bad experience. Was supposed to be there 3 nights but left after 2! Hotel is dirty. Carpet is stained, our bathroom had dirt and toilet was old with paint peeling off. There were only 2 towels in room and they were out of towels and gave us a pool towel for our group of 4! The room was never cleaned and smelled bad from when we walked in. Would not recommend and would love a refund of some sort. Tried messaging the hotel multiple times and never got a response

Check in was easy and quick. However when we went to the room there were black areas, potential mold, above the shower and other repairs in the bathroom area ceilings. Had to check out of that room and check into a new room. Front desk help was great and had no problem getting us into another room. The breakfast was ok the first morning nothing special. The eggs the second morning were not good. Chose to eat somewhere else the last morning.

Booked in advance and just stayed overnight. The room was surprisingly bigger and a lot nicer than i expected, consoderong the outside looks kind of run down. Landscape could use some work, but without being too particular, it was a nice hotel. I was charged twice, which is annoying. My card was approved but it "didnt show in their system" so i had to pay again, even after showing my bank statement proving it was approved and pulled out. Apparently the transaction will cancel, but we will see. It may be worth it to just pay online prior to arriving so you dont have to deal with the same.

For a cheaper option, this is a good motel. The public areas were clean, though the parking lot could use a repave (or at least fill the holes). The room was a decent size and clean, with the only issue being damage to the bathroom ceiling. And even though it's on a busy road, there was not much noise from traffic.

Location was close to highway and football hall of fame stadium. Numerous restaurants in close proximity. Breakfast was decent but not ready by 6 AM as advertised. Building and grounds in need of care. Tub/shower buttom was soft and spongy underfoot... disconcerting and really gross. Mold and mildew penetrated 1/3 of the ceiling over the tub/shower. We wouldn't stay there again.

There was alot to do in the area

I was here for the eclipse. The hotel is in the middle of a large shopping district. No problem finding restaurants or fast food. It’s also close to the Football Hall of Fame, but I don’t follow football. It is across the street from a cemetery, if that kind of thing bothers you.

Unfortunately all hotels were booked due to nfl event. Exterior in deplorable condition, lobby and hallways completely disgusting and smelly. My room was surprisingly fine, but outside I frequently saw vagrants loitering. Looked like heavy drug users wandering around scratching themselves.

A desk with a chair to be able to work with my laptop would have been nice to have but it was manageable. As I arrived after sunset, it was difficult to locate the hotel as the high sign by the road was not working.

I go to Akron every week for work. The last time i went the hotel i normally stay in was booked but i am familiar with Wyndham because my mother has a time share thru them so i went with the wingate. I was running behind getting to Akron so i had to go straight to work l called them and let them know i would be checking in when i got off work around 11:00pm they said that was fine. I arrived at the hotel that night checked in just fine I asked the manager or whoever was at the front desk if i could have a late check out especially since i was unable to enjoy the hotel during the day i would like to get my money's worth in atleast rest. He said yes I could check out at 2:00 pm i said thats great i go to work at 130. The beds were hard, there was a hole in the wall, i saw a drug deal in the parking lot from my loose window bottom floor room and the tub was dirty. I went to breakfast that consist of watered down juices and only hot food was eggs and sausage but they didn't want you taking breakfast back to your room. I ate breakfast and went back to sleep at 1130 they were beating on my door like the police when i told them i was told i could get a late check out the guy that told me i could pretty much called me a liar and said if i wanted to check out late i needed to pay an extra 10 dollars an hour. I told them they did bad business gathered my things and left and will sleep in my car before i return there.

Although the property is pretty run down our room was clean. It needs a toilet seat that fits -- there was an enlongated toilet with a round seat on it. I enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was good --many items to choose including eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, muffins, juice, toast, and cereal.

This was a bit outdated and in need of repair from the outside. The bathroom in my suite was like a mobile home it was so tiny. The door hits the tub when you open it. No stopper on the sink. The room was quiet and clean though! Breakfast was good and fresh! I recommend for a quick overnight.

The staff was ki d friendly and courteous. Thrre was trash outside of the property and trash bins in hallways by elevator wrre always overflowing. There was another group in attendance that was loud and overbearing. Breakfast was ok, the self made waffles are nice but selection was limited for breakfast items.

AC unit rattled had to turn off and breakfast sandwiches were gone by 7

It was good for what we needed as far as just a place to sleep. We were there for a sports tournament and we were hoping to be able to swim but the pool closes early. They had a 9PM close time on a Saturday night. I also book our hotels based on breakfast included because when you are feeding teenagers every dollar counts. The only juice available was apple juice and it tasted more like water with a hint of apple. If you are looking for hot breakfast they do not offer anything hot but waffles and the batter was watered down too. I did not expect a huge spread but I did expect at least a couple options.
