The Fort Printers

We booked 3 nights on 2 separate bookings. For the first 2 nights we were upgraded to a room in the main building.Thoroughly well run hotel with attention to detail. Nothing too much trouble for them. They seemed to be falling over themselves to be nice to us.Hotel situated in the centre of Galle Fort. Tastefully converted building. Super pool, great for cooling off. Good breakfast included - we opted for the Sri Lankan Hoppers with mango lassi etc.

Beautiful room, well appointed, the staff were lovely. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is located right in the middle of the old fort area, despite this the rooms were quiet. The pool was lovely & great to escape the heat of the day. The meals at the restaurant were excellent. Great value for the quality of hotel. Highly recommended!

The hotel is a little oasis in a historic building close by the fort. We had a church room with a very high ceiling and one of the nicest bathrooms I have ever had. There were quite a few mosquitoes, but luckily, the bed had a net. The meal prices are expensive for Sri Lanka but the pavlova was excellent. The building really has character and I can see why it appeared in Condé Nast Traveller. Although small, we really enjoyed the coolness of the swimming pool. We were even able to get a free late checkout. As for the location: you can very easily walk to the fort and then make your way around the city to the lighthouse and walk back through the center (best time is sunset). Overall, we were very happy and would highly recommend this hotel.

The breakfast menu al la carte was amazing!!! Great coffee , excellent service and facilities. Great location within the fort. No tv in room but isn't needed. Rooms are large with a desk and sitting area. Bathroom beautiful with claw foot bath, spacious shower area. Pool area is lovely for a quick dip. Staff go above and beyond. Top pick for accomadation.

Excellent hotel wonderful period architecture with swimming pool.

The welcome was wonderful. The hotel immaculate. The pool a welcome spot after a day of walking around the beautiful Galle. Overall excellent.

Beautifully designed hotel with excellent food in a central location. But there’s a lot of road noise and dogs barking so you don’t get a good sleep. There’s no car park despite parking being listed. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work in the bedroom.

Welcoming hotel in old town Galle, in very pretty surroundings with a small pool area. We stayed in the suites down the street which were clean and comfortable but we missed a coffee maker and the locks didn’t really work. Breakfast was a la carte and the bar served fresh cappuccino. Really nice staff at the pool and restaurant!

Excellent location, superb staff and service. Loved the old building and small but handy pool to cool off. Excellent rooms and incredible staff. Made our trip to Galle Fort magical. Would recommend.

Hotel location in heart of Fort Galle excellent. Staff service, friendliness and willingness to accommodate excellent. Beautiful buildings well restored. Excellent breakfast. I assume they are not 5 star as only provide some of the little extras in room that you would normally expect from like properties eg tissues, body lotion etc but that didn’t bother us! Our bed was a little saggy but that is the only fault we could find. They even gave us a very late checkout at no cost when we offered to pay which was very much appreciated & totally not expected. Highly recommend.

It is a wonderful hotel, with fantastic staff, clean and in a perfect location. Gayan helped us on our arrival and breakfast time, he was so kind and made us feel really welcome. Also, breakfast is absolutely super delicious with lots of Sri Lankan fruits and options and lovely coffee.

It was lovely stay at the Hotel. excellent location and many nice cafes and restaurant within 10 Min walk. very clean, good hospitality. Room designs need lots of improvement

Exceptionally beautiful hotel, wonderfully renovated with great taste. Large clean rooms and very friendly staff

I booked a two nights and had to leave after one night because it was absolutely unpleasant. The front desk staff, especially a young woman that checked us in was very uncomfortable and unprofessional in her demeanor. She never greeted us when she saw us on a number occasions just gave us distant, dirty looks. Upon check in she never explained anything about the room or how things work except the breakfast. The room was very uncomfortable - there were giant bugs and a lot of mosquitoes. At night noises from upper window in the roof of a rat or cat or some other animal sliding and scratching the surface. It was scary to wake up to that noise a number of times. The bed is way too low and uncomfortable for sleeping. For someone with a knee injury like mine it was very very uncomfortable to get on and off and sleep. Constant fuel/smoke and smell from the tuk tuks and cars driving pass as the room faces directly a busy street. Too much noise snd smoke. Plus windows cannot be opened for that reason of the smell and privacy. There are no amenities in the toilet and a gigantic big had to be removed. We felt dirty and unpleasant in the hotel so even though we booked two nights and it was non refundable we decided to take the financial loss and leave early the next morning after breakfast which wasn’t great either. We booked another hotel and felt much more comfortable there. Also upon check out, the same young woman who check us in was super ignorant - did not greet or even us leave.

This is a beautiful hotel. Full of history and very well decorated. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the staff is super nice and friendly. If you're looking for a hotel around Galle look no further, trust me...you won't regret it :)

Eher gemischte Gefühle. Wir waren Anfang März für 2 Nächte und hatten ein Zimmer im Church Bereich. Insgesamt ist die Einrichtung der Zimmer sehr spartanisch und unser Zimmer hatte in der Vergangenheit bereits Themen mit der Feuchtigkeit, deutlich sichtbar an den Wänden. Zu dem Zeitpunkt unseres Aufenthaltes hatten wohl Affen Ihren Spaß auf dem Dach und beschädigten es. Nach einsetzenden Starkregen hatten wir im Badezimmer mehrere Lecks im Dachbereich und somit Wassereinbruch. Für uns sehr unangenehm, aber auch sichtbar für die Verantwortlichen, die uns nur bedingt helfen konnten, da es keine freie Zimmeralternative gab. Zur Entschädigung gab es eine Übernahme der Rechnung vom Vortag in der Bar. Was zwar nett gemeint war, aber den Unannehmlichkeiten nicht annähernd entsprach. Ich denke insgesamt, dass die Unterkunft Ihren eigenen Anspruch nicht gerecht wird.

Lovely heritage historical small hotel. We were upgraded to a heritage room. Room was large with separate shower and toilet, and all very comfortable but the lighting was a bit too low.

Very welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble.They had a very good restaurant with Moroccan and Sri Lankan food. Rooms are large as are bathrooms and right in the middle of the fort so walking everywhere is easy. We would return.

The fort printers was a fantastic place to stay, can't recommend it enough! The staff were lovely, the hotel and room were beyond my expectations from the pictures and the area in Galle Fort was so wonderful and walkable. This was a great place to do some day excursions from as well, we went to both Mirissa for whale watching, and Hikaduwa for a beach day.

Beautiful colonial building, very kind staff that let me stay much later for check-out. Perfectly located in the middle of Galle Fort. The only problem was the key to open the room, ancient and beautiful, but very fiddly.

The Fort Printers is a beautiful boutique hotel with professional staff who are lovely. The breakfast and dinner menu was outstanding with some of the best food we ate in Sri Lanka. Our room was very comfortable and a really good size. They also serve excellent cocktails, I had one of the best bloody Mary's ever 😋

Beautiful property in an amazing location. Gorgeous spacious rooms & bathrooms and a lovely pool. However, the service was quite slow at breakfast and the dinner in the restaurant was very expensive.

Fantastic historic property, well appointed large rooms. Friendly and attentive staff. Restaurant was slightly pricier for area but very good.

This is a beautiful property with really delicious food and wonderful staff. The Pina Colada with fresh ingredients is the best I have ever had. Really loved staying here.
