After staying at the Marino Resort Hotel I decided to book Marina Hotel advertised as a 5 star. From start I was disappointed the staff were some how unwelcoming. This hotel I think caters for local people above all muslim as its dry bar which they dont highlight in the advertisement. I have to be first in saying hello at the counter as they just stay steering at me. I tryed the dinner buffet overal was ok but if I was Italian I will be crying when I tryed the creamy pasta it had so much chili. Overall the hotel is in great location, prices are good, is in good condition but it needs to work more in customer service.

Good clean room but awful customer service i arrived at 18:00 n i was made to wait 30min to check in, i was forced to sit with a random family while they checked me in. Waiting area was full. The service I received i wouldn't say its a 5* hotel.

Why have a restaurant on the top floor and it be inside, and not open air, ir might as well be downstair, the restaurant staff a little off when asked dothe do beer, which they don't, there is no share by the tiny pool area which is very noisy due to building work, it took 20 minutes to check in and they were not busy, no complimentary drink while waited unlike the other 5 hotels we stayed in while in Sri Lanka. Not really 5 star. The room had a balcony but no chairs, disapointed buy this hotel.

The breakfast was great, maybe slightly overpriced compared to others I've experienced across SL. Staff were friendly, room was clean, but very noisy. Struggled to sleep most evenings in a room fronting the main road. Pool area is nice, only 6 sunbeds though. Gym is well equipped but very little room to move about. Nice cafe downstairs and good wifi
