This is a fancy place, the lobby reminded me of a cruise ship. There was even live music! The swimming pool is large and pristine, and you can watch a variety of birds in the river while you soak in the pool. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the facilities are first class and the dinner buffet is amazing.

We booked into the Executive Floor which gave us access to the Executive Lounge - "The Library" with Bar facilities. The service there is fantastic. I had the opportunity to meet both Bar Managers - Ajit & Azme. I also met the two Bartenders on duty - Tehan & Samitha. their attention to detail is outstanding. All are very capable young men who provided service with a smile. On the night before my departure, I hosted an evening for a few friends at The Library. The service was outstanding, and they also made sure that I received the applicable discount for guests from the executive Floor. Thank you very much for the excellent service and hospitality.

The hotel in general is excellent however they run very loud club style events in the outside restaurant until 1am to 2am and any room facing the lake is almost shaking with the noise, so if you stay and don’t want to party then ask for a room not facing the lake. Zero sleep had after a long haul flight from uk and with early train next day so felt like a very expensive sleepless night.

This is a large and busy hotel, quite convenient to the train station, and situated on one of Colombo's lovely lakes. It felt like a Vegas property, absent the casinos. My room was okay -- reasonably comfortable and business like. The big attraction are the numerous restaurants, shops and entertainment options. Plus, a pool that is open to 9 p.m. My favorite thing was swimming in the huge, almost entirely empty pool, under the night sky, with the giant Lotus Flower Tower all lit up overhead. I also had a great dinner at the buffet restaurant. I only stayed a night between arrival from a train in the late afternoon until an early morning flight the next day. This was a solid choice for that.

Check in process was slow and took about 25 mins. It seemed that there was constantly some sort of private party in the pool area with incredibly loud music which could be heard throughout the hotel even into the early hours of the morning. Doors to rooms were not sound proofed at all. Rooms were a good size but not the cleanest. Staff were very friendly however.

This is a decent hotel but not excellent I would say. Looks old and needs lot of attention to finer aspects of the rooms and building. Location is certainly very good if you have a lake view room. Pool is also good and large. Food is average with very less sitting space as compared to the room accommodation ( I had my B/F standing all the time ). I had to call for proper toilet kits all the time... Over all not very bad but not very good as well... to stay if you get a good price deal.

A equipe de housekeeping faz um ótimo trabalho, mas, apesar disso, os lençóis com buracos e o carpete tinham áreas visivelmente encardidas, o que comprometeu a sensação de limpeza. A comida é extremamente cara, e o café da manhã tem um preço exagerado. Outro grande problema foi a internet – o sinal era péssimo, e só consegui uma solução após insistir para que me fornecessem um roteador. No geral, não recomendo este hotel. Há opções na cidade que são mais modernas, limpas e com menos trânsito de pessoas pra todo lado em que não se sabe quem é hóspede quem está ali de passagem

Please find somewhere else. This is a company that is very well known in sri lanka. We staed at cinnamon lakeside super room......with no lake view. Apparently thats more. It was £200 for 2 nights. A Monday and Tuesday. No breakfast. Pretty much same as london price and same room, minus sick stain on wall and floor (fingers really crossed it was sick). Ooooo and the worst bit (for me....appreciate its not going to bother everyone). No balcony and couldnot open windows so for 3 days / 2 nights we had a/c on constant. Now both have smokers cough. Great. There are just better places to stay to be honest. With better food and a better vibe. Wasnt great

We had a terrible experience. Had to pay twice and they lost our booking. Also tried to charge us for double our stay length. Kept us waiting ages, phone in the room didn't work and the shower fixing was broken. Nice staff but our stay was pretty awful.

Really nice hotel. Outside looks a bit old but very nice on the inside. Wasn't a fan of the green carpets. Most staff are very nice. Only issue is that the colombar is really loud late at night when trying to sleep. Overall i'd come back

The room is very noisy from the backside, with loud music being plaid all night long, on Sundays. The blasting music comes from a nearby casino, across the lake, and the thumping music is felt on the walls of the room!

The concierge and the person she called their manager were very very very impolite. They should learn customer care and hospitality management skills more deeply. Not attending to customer's issue, hut instead, trying to pass the bucket towards the customer's side. The first ignorant concierge I have ever seen in a what they call a 5 star hotel. In my honest guess, the WHOLE front office, concierge mainly, should be changed. They are the face of the hotel, but if they are sooo bold headed and ignorant, without a greeting, without a smile, without a welcome, why keep them at the front line? Cinnamon HR SHOULD, I mean they SHOULD, change their concierge personnel, MAINLY THE PERSON CALLED THE MANAGER.

I am trying hard not to be negative because I want them to do well. However there were a number of mishaps and experiences that made my experience not so great. After dinner at the Chinese restaurant at the hotel, I wanted to go in to the outside patio bar to get a cocktail and listen the live music - they didn’t let me in because I was wearing my Birkenstocks. They told me that all men had to wear shoes because a lot of gangsters come in flip flops and make trouble. I was disappointed that after being a paying guest at the hotel, they didn’t have a system in place to accommodate already screened guests. I had no problem eating at he most expensive restaurants at the property wearing my sandals. Ironically, Sri Lankan national costume for men is a long sleeve shirt, sarong and flip flops or sandals. Matter of fact most prominent politicians in Sri Lanka wear flip flops! My night continued to go down as I moved to the lobby bar with my family to have night cap before calling it a night. All I wanted was a sugar shot of whiskey and not a double which I reiterated to the waiter at least twice - he kept asking me if I wanted a double. Anyway, the two of us received our single shot of Glenlivet 12 yo and enjoyed it. I asked to settle the bill and they said they didn’t have anything on record of me ordering anything but overcharged me by double the price and never apologized. Although I settled the bill in full, I felt taken advantage of.

Hotel was lovely and all staff were very accommodating. Location was great as access to downtown / malls was very close. Breakfast buffet was excellent. We are at a special Chinese buffet but would recommend that you skip that as the food was cold.
