I love the look and the feel of early American on the East Coast. For the one night in Summit, New Jersey, I stayed at this old colonial house that was built in the late 1800’s. The house was simply but thoughtfully furnished, and the wraparound porch was especially charming. The nostalgic decorations and all the traces of the past were particularly appealing to me.😍

This place is an 1800s house turned into an inn. Super cool property, and in a quiet location. The upside is it’s an 1800s house with all the usual charm, and the downside is the walls are on the thin side between rooms. Awesome porch area to hang out on when the weather is nice!

This beautiful old inn was extremely comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much. I recommend it highly to anyone needing a place to stay in the area. Lots of amenities, lovely library and sitting spaces. Very appealing and memorable.

The DeBary in is a beautiful old house converted to an inn. There are many common spaces to use that are beautiful. The staff is very helpful. We were in Room 17 which is large with a sitting room with pull out sofa and a nice bathroom. It was great for us with our 7 and 9 year olds. The place is not very modern, but it is very beautiful.

Beautiful bed and breakfast. Cozy bedroom and bathroom. Very homey feeling especially for the holidays with all the Christmas and Hanukkah decorations. Great continental breakfast offered in the morning with spacious areas to sit and relax near the fireplace. Only negative is parking is a bit tight and limited at times. Can’t wait to stay here again!

The DeBary Inn is beautiful as far as properties go but that's all. The home needs extra TLC and a deep clean. My husband and I stayed in room 4. The room had a musty smell, needs new mattress and deep clean. We had an uncomfortable stay but were only there for 2 nights so tried to make the best of it. The floors creak very loudly, whoever was staying in the room above us we heard every step all night long, felt like the ceiling was going to come down on us. We had a hard time falling asleep because of this and the uncomfortable bed. The Inn had breakfast available for guest but definitely not what an Inn breakfast should have. No home made treats, store bought muffins, cold eggo waffles etc. The only great thing was the location in Summit, NJ. I would not stay there again.

The property while beautiful is in need of some TLC. Room 9 is located on the 2nd floor and there is no lift, so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. The bed itself is small and tired. The sheets and pillow cases were dirty so I had to call to have them changed. The bedding is ill-fitting, and the valance was either the wrong size or the elastic was broken. The bath drain was full of old hair ( yuk) and the spout was held on with caulking rather than being repaired. Additionally the water was warm only, dont expect a hot shower. Breakfast was very basic. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

I had the best sleep in the most comfortable bed ever. The Inn was so quaint, clean, and cozy. The staff were so pleasant and helpful. I definately would recommend this inn to anyone. It is right in the heart of Summit and a 10 minute walk to downtown. I cannot wait to stay there again.

I enjoyed the quaintness of the hotel. My room was cozy, clean and tidy. While the furnishings were not "antiques" they were old enough to add to the bygone era atmosphere of the facility. The breakfast was sufficient and served in a well lighted dining room which overlooked a small garden ; it could also be taken to the porch tables. The neighborhood is lovely and within walking distance to the train to NYC. The staff were very nice and accommodating.

I always love staying here. I had stayed in one of the larger rooms the last couple of times, and was honestly not as happy with the smaller room this time around. I felt like it was crammed, and the bed wasn't as comfortable.

We were in room 16, which I didn’t realize had a separate bathroom. My husband didn’t really like that! So, it was a little inconvenient as we both use the bathroom during the night!

It's a charming inn. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The wrap around porch is a great place to sit and have your morning coffee. The free (cold) breakfast was delicious. My room, #2, was somewhat of a downer. The full sized bed was just OK and a few times I thought it was going to collapse. The TV was maybe 40", which is small but it had lots of cable channels. No Netflix, YouTube, etc. More pluses than minuses. Oh I noticed an EV charger in the parking area. The Inn deserves a lot of credit for installing an EV charger. I debated staying at the Short Hills Hilton. I am glad that I chose the DeBarry.

Beautiful inn with clean rooms. Friendly & helpful staff. The rooms can use a facelift. We sunk in our bed. I would suggest new mattress! Easy walking to shops & restaurants. We would definitely stay again.

The convenience and price made our stay worth it. We had a concert in the city and were easily able to park and walk to the train. This is a bed and breakfast and how ever charming it appears, not much sleep was had. The walls and floorboards are thin so creaking and water running kept me up all night.

Property had issues with fire alarm going off which led to evacuation because the alarm was just unbearably loud. We did eventually get settled and hotel is historic and comfortable. Some of the rooms are extremely small but we got an upgrade with the alarm issue.

In all fairness, we arrived late and did not have a chance to explore the common area. It looked very nice, but we were tired and went to bed. Great communication from the hotel prior to check in and easy check in and out. Since we were only staying one night I got the least expensive room and it was very small, the sink was in the bedroom and it faced the Main Street. There was only one robe. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We could hear the TV from the room next door. The area is very nice but we were not able to stroll around because of smoke from the fires in Canada that totally overcame most of the east coast. If we we’re staying more than one night I would have changed my room for something in the back and something bigger.

The Debary Inn is a very old property that needs a lot of updating. I stayed for 4 nights and couldn’t sleep with loud neighbors upstairs. You can hear when they flush toilets, every step they walk. So if you have neighbors that are night owls, your chances of sleep are close to 0. I called the 24 phone line with no answer. I spoke to Caroline, the property manager who wasn’t very helpful and just said “this is an old property and even if I ask them to be quiet they might still make noise.” At that point I was just in need of some sleep! The property has potential and the location is great but needs major investment to upgrade.

DeBary Inn is absolutely charming and we had a delightful stay. Inn Keeper Rachel is terrific and everything exceeded expectations. Give this property my highest recommendation. It was like staying at nice old home of a good friend.

We like everything about it from the tear caretaker who watches the grounds. He is extremely friendly and and the lady in the office I forgot their names but they have been awesome and I definitely want to come back the room the food just the area itself. I pray for that place to stay strong and stay in business forever more and that place itself made me fell in love with New Jersey that I don’t want leave New Jersey everyone has been awesome

Fantastic B&B and just a couple of blocks away from an adorable downtown. Check-in and out were very easy. Safe parking on property. Wish we could’ve stayed longer but we were just passing through and spent one night. Would definitely stay again!

The location near the center of Summit is outstanding. My room was tiny(6). There are larger rooms available but i didn’t do my homework so thats on me. Last time i stayed in room15 which was spacious as i remember. Breakfast room is very nice but breakfast itself offers lots of choices but nothing that stands out. Original towels and washcloths were quite economical but when we asked for new ones we got plush replacements. I like the property. I would get a different room and have an outstanding experience again
