We stayed here for three nights and it was fine. We went back and forth between a four and three star rating. We really appreciated them upgrading us to a room with a bathroom (on mistake we booked a room without a bathroom) but overall we weren't overly enthused with the stay. They charged us C$33 per day for a five month old baby and all that was provided was a little bag of toys and an oversized kimono she could wear during the stay. We didn't have the breakfast as it was quite expensive (if I remember correctly something like C$30 each per day). The actual room was a bit worn and outdated but it was clean and we did like how they gave us little cookies every day. There was a nice lobby area with seating and free sake at night. The employees were polite and welcoming so no qualms there. The location was excellent for us - right next to the bus / train station and a 10 minute walk to the old town. I will also say that the laundrymat was free and convenient.

5 stars +++. This is one of the most wonderful properties I have ever stayed in. The people, all of the staff overly friendly, so courteous, so helpful, I hope to return one day and stay at this property. The food at breakfast is delicious, the servers were impeccable, reception and check-in was great, the location is super convenient. It is a safe property, quiet, clean, what more can I say? Arigato 🙏

What a perfectly lovely stay. This was not tbe most luxurious place that we stayed at in Japan but the one we enjoyed the most . This is a traditional Japanese ryokan - so you sleep on mattresses on the tatami mats on the floor. The traditional table seating is also at floor level. Hard on those knees 😄the reason we loved this stay was the staff. They were so super helpful and there were so many thoughtful touches everyday in this place, it truly felt like we visited family - the kind you enjoy visiting ! The private onsen on the 5th floor was nice as well. Loved our takayama visit and this stay rounded out the town perfectly!
