YHA Whitby

Comfortable bed in private room. The school group were noisy running & jumping in the room above but when I went to report it to reception it immediately fell silent and was quiet all night - so a great night's sleep 😴 would have been nice to have had a chair in the room - there was a cube that had to serve as a bedside table / seat. Great location adjacent to abbey and minutes from the 199 steps and a fab brewery for beer & pizza. Lovely gardens Spacious lounge & conservatory. Friendly helpful staff Bonus free ticket to abbey. Would definitley stay again 😀

Fantastic spot for our group of 4 friends, lovely location, and great value for money if no thrills required - not where you would take your partner for a romantic weekend, but for a lads trip, perfect. Small problem with shower temp adjustment but flagged and sure it would quickly be sorted (only stopped for one night).

The property was beautiful, the staff was amazing and the fact that the cafe attached was both delicious and had outdoor seating was absolutely incredible… The only downside to our stay is that there was a huge youth field trip. The kids were probably about 10-13 years old and were terribly loud, running up and down the stairs, screaming and yelling in the hallways and the teachers didn’t do anything about it. They let them basically do whatever they wanted like they had no control over them. It was awful. The morning we were checking out, so were they. The kids were blocking every exit, every hallway, every set of stairs and we had to make our way downstairs to the reception area. When we finally made it down, more kids were blocking the only 2 exits to reception. There was a kid crying and throwing a fit right in front of one of the doors and the other door was being blocked by 15 other kids. One of the teachers looked at me and asked if I was trying to get to reception and I said yes. She replied “well you can use the other door” the door she was referring to was the door being blocked by the child throwing a fit. I just looked at her in shock. How was I supposed to exit, because as a mom and a teacher, I find it very inappropriate to talk to a child on a field with their school. Those teachers had absolutely zero control over those children. If you would like to stay here, it is absolutely beautiful but I strongly suggest you call and ask if there is a field trip.
