Comfortable and within walking distance of anything we wanted to do. Excellent restaurants within walking distance. Parking was confusing but once we figured it out, we managed.

booked online after checking some reviews and when arrived found there was no parking, the local parking was close and wasnt expensive for 24 hours. Arrived mid afternoon and expecting a hotel found a pub and full of the usual crowd you would expect in a Northern pub so was in a bit of a panic since this was a special occasion. Checked in at the bar with and was STUNNED, by how well laid out and clean and prepared our room was. DO NOT be fooled by the bar, this is one of the cleanest and well presented hotels I have ever visited and I travel globally for a living. the staff were all very friendly, the view over the water was beautiful and we had the very best time here. Breakfast, served in the restaurant in the morning could not be faulted, the service, impeccable and friendly and the attention to detail would challenge the British Navy. spic and span has nothing on this place. book it and enjoy your trip. My partner and I will be coming back for definite. Thank you to the Dolphin staff for such a lovely stay.

Stayed two nights at the Dolphin, cannot fault them on anything, excellent locale, staff were very friendly and introduced themselves by name on entry, food great. My only criticism and, it’s not the Dolphin but Whitby in general, is parking. Small town with everything packed in one central point. Parking is a major problem. There is no space near any hotel and the community car parks are small and you need to arrive very early to get a spot. We got lucky and parked for 2 days at the station. I have the Ringo app and £10 for 24 hrs is very good. I could actually see my car from the front window of hotel which was a bonus. If your in the North East and looking for a short stay I would definitely recommend The Dolphin

It's a really nice small hotel, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, the room was really pleasant and the location is great. The only downsides were a bed that was too soft (for me) and the difficulty in finding a parking space nearby.

This is a wonderfully restored small scale hotel located above a busy pub next to the town’s central hub, the swing bridge. Great breakfast and hospitality, and a lively pub is just below you (and they invested heavily in soundproofing it for their hotel mates. Highly recommended

The venue is ideally situated for your visit to Whitby. The hotel is family run, the staff are both friendly and helpful, and despite the rooms being above a busy bar you did not get disturbed. Therefore, I would thoroughly recommend staying there and will definitely re-book when visiting Whitby again.

The family room was big and spacious with the sofa bed already set up for us. Everything was clean and furniture of a high standard. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom fittings of a high standard. Staff were really helpful. Breakfast was really nice with a good range of choices and the surroundings were comfortable.

First the good. Great location (probably the best in Whitby.) Friendly staff, clean large bedroom, good breakfast, comfy bed with nice bedding. Great Quirky old building. Unfortunately, the bad.. when we arrived the whole building had the overwhelming smell of cooking oil. Even into the bedroom. I am pleased to state that the aroma eventually dispersed by morning. I believe that the management should address this issue urgently. Otherwise everything very good.

Booked a room with a bath but didn’t get that I got a room with a small bathroom, the shower was tiny with mould in parts. The room was okay but very dated and needs a complete renovation as does the whole hotel. It was quite expensive and the reviews I had read were good so I was really disappointed. We didn’t stay for breakfast as we just wanted to leave.

The Dolphin is perfectly situated, right in the heart of Whitby. We had room 6 on the top floor with a great view over the harbour, good bathroom, comfortable bed and decent furnishings. Breakfast was decent with tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Upon checking in, the room registered 32c degrees on my phone with no air con or fan. Security wise, the bathroom window was held open by a chock of wood, ground floor. Pretty unacceptable heat wise and security wise. I was not able to use the room and booked into another hotel nearby.

Nothing amazing about the room apart from the view. Could benefit from plug sockets at the sides of the bed for mobile charging. We paid £148 for 1 night including breakfast. Breakfast was a 5 out of 10 for the price. Staff ok .I have paid £75 for the same overall experience so suppose the other £73 was for the view.

Room certainly not superior. Attic room with one window showing a harbour view. Sub standard wardrobe and no drawers for clothes. Lived out of a suitcase. All the other rooms appeared superior in many aspects. Certainly wasn't worth nearly £200 per night. I noticed that they were advertising just over £100 per night prior to us arriving. The hotel consisted of dix rooms and we were certainly at the bottom.

We celebrated our wedding whilst staying here on our honeymoon it was so comfortable food was really nice good choice for breakfast and staff couldn't do enough would definitely recommend 😊

Had a lovely 2 nights at the dolphin hotel with a lovely view of the water. The staff was amazing & locked our key in the room by accident and couldn't find spare key but they called a locksmith who got us back in. The hotel is lovely and food is amazing. Will definitely stay here again. Wish we had longer.

The most welcoming place we’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we walked through the door to leaving we were made welcome. The room was beautiful, it was clean and warm and the views were amazing. Owen behind the bar was the loveliest person. He gave us lots of information where to go for the next day. Thank you Owen you really did make our stay fab. A place we will definitely be visiting again.

I was surprisingly pleased with our stay. The room was much better than I expected. The bathroom was excellent as was the full English breakfast. Most if the staff were very helpful and pleasant especially the young woman who I believe was acting manager!? The only unhelpful person was an older bar maid who ignored me more than once to serve the men! Downstairs was a bit noisy at night but this didn’t bother us at all.

We absolutely loved this hotel. We were more than happy with all aspects - the room was lovely, the staff is amazing and wonderfully friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The pub itself is charming with excellent pub food.The location is also perfect - walkable from train station, on the water and close to all the sites. Stay here, you will not regret it!

We only stayed one night but the staff where very friendly, room was very comfortable and clean. Perfect location. Highly recommend The Dolphin.

Great hotel, lovely helpful staff, not a modern furnished/decorated hotel but that for me holds the charm if I had to be really picky you could say it’s a bit dated. However, I really enjoyed my stay a comfy bed and a great shower, nice big harbour facing room and the breakfast was amazing I would definitely go back

The Dolphin is perfectly situated, right in the heart of Whitby. We had room 6 on the top floor with a great view over the harbour, good bathroom, comfortable bed and decent furnishings. Breakfast was decent with tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Dolphin! This was a clean, cozy, friendly family run inn over a cute pub. It was so quiet in our room, which had a harbor view. Our stay was just lovely and romantic . The owners and staff were so warm and friendly, and the included breakfast was great . Overall just a warm and welcoming place!

We absolutely loved this hotel. We were more than happy with all aspects - the room was lovely, the staff is amazing and wonderfully friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The pub itself is charming with excellent pub food.The location is also perfect - walkable from train station, on the water and close to all the sites. Stay here, you will not regret it!

Great location,spacious room with super views,helpful staff and best hotel breakfast my husband has had. Only fault- didn't like having no milk or bottled water in the room. However we would certainly visit the Dolphin again.

Nothing amazing about the room apart from the view. Could benefit from plug sockets at the sides of the bed for mobile charging. We paid £148 for 1 night including breakfast. Breakfast was a 5 out of 10 for the price. Staff ok .I have paid £75 for the same overall experience so suppose the other £73 was for the view.

We were in room one large, spacious and clean with a good view over harbour and bridge. Good shower over bath with rubber safety mat and instant hot water. Two wardrobes with enough coat hangers. A small fridge would be very beneficial in each room (only six rooms). Although a small fridge is located on landing between floors one and two with a carton of milk supplied by hotel, we found it out of date and starting to go off. A very good breakfast with very, very good service the ex-RN who served us couldn’t do enough to ensure we enjoyed our four nights stay. Thanks we will return. ********

From checking in to leaving every member of staff we came across were so pleasant and helpful. Lovely room, comfy bed everything you would need for an over night stay or however long you need to stay. Perfect breakfast, fresh produce, tea or coffee on request nothing too much trouble Would definitely return without hesitation.

What a find, couldn’t get a nicer spot for all the pubs and restaurants, had a wonderful Time staying here and will definitely be back . Highly recommended.
