The Stables - The Inn Collection Group

We visit Whitby every October, this was the first time in a hotel and we absolutely loved it. Cosy pub with plenty of food choice, very comfortable beds, kettle in room (yippee!), superb staff and the holy grail: full breakfast menu included (please don’t stop doing this!). Plenty of parking. The outside areas were lovely, a pond with a duckboard walkway, picnic benches if you fancy sitting outside, and a view of the countryside from the dining room windows. We will definitely return.

We had a really lovely stay here over the recent BH weekend. The hotel is spacious and clean. The staff were all friendly and personable. Our special requests were all met, which was appreciated as we had travelled with our older parents and a dog staying in 3 rooms that we wanted together. Check-in was smooth and quick and the rooms were great. Beds were comfy and bathrooms well appointed, lovely toiletries and fluffy towels. In-room tea & coffee facilities all as we expected and the daily replenishment of biscuits were very welcome - you don’t always get this these days!! There was some traffic noise, but this didn’t affect our sleep or overall stay in the room. Very dog friendly and family friendly - great to see the children and pets enjoying the outside spaces and breathtaking views- stunning. Restaurant and Bar area was huge - with a good variety of food options and nicely priced for Lunch and Dinner. Breakfast was informal and relaxed again, with plenty of options for all. Our only niggle was that there wasn’t a comfy lounge area to move to, to sit,relax and spend time together after our evening meal -something our elderly parents would have enjoyed and found more comfortable than staying at the table or just going back to their room. There is tonnes of space and different areas at this establishment - just felt it would have benefitted from a cosy lounge area for residents to use. That aside, we all had a great time and would not hesitate to stay here again.

You could not fault the staff or their service, excellent all round helpful and happy. What is definitely missing is a longue, especially if you have a rainy day like we had, all you can do is sit in your room. It is more like a pub with rooms but worth a short stay.

There is plenty of space and rooms in the bar / dining area. A magnificent outside space with a pond and many tables and chairs, all with a fantastic view of the countryside. The room was spacious and spotless. There is a park and ride to Whitby and a garden centre within a short walk and Sneaton Castle not much further. Minor negatives, road not too far away, so some traffic noise in parts of the building, although not much, and finally not the most exciting food menu, although what was served was good.

All areas pet friendly. Plenty of parking

Lovely lush quiet, unique, boutique hotel that is excellently priced. Lovely spacious room, good shower, good bar choice with friendly staff. Breakfast was delish and excellent value for money. Dog friendly. Would stay here again without hesitation!

Lovely grounds with a smart beer garden, pond and decking area for outdoor dining and drinking. Rooms well appointed. Food (hard to comment, had salad as been a bad boy!) Breakfast was very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

Very welcoming, clean, comfortable and modern. We had a really nice room with direct access to a patio with great views. Near to Staithes, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and the moors. Parking was good. Staff were friendly. Good breakfast. We should have stayed longer. We will return.

The Stables is a beautifully appointed hotel. The bar and restaurant is large making dining with a noisy pooch less stressful. Our room was lovely and immaculately clean. The grounds were beautiful and clean and tidy and the staff were excellent. Can’t fault the stay there at all

Expensive for basic accommodation. Well renovated buildings but obviously ran by a chain. The bathroom was tiny with black mould in the shower and on the shower head. Vanity mirror not working. The general cleanliness if the room was good. No soft furnishings for comfort such as a cushion or a throw. No fridge in the room, basic terrestrial channels on tv. Staff were very nice and obviously hard working. Public areas were very clean and tidy and well maintained, with a lovely accessible garden.

Had the superior double room which was beautiful, so spacious and immaculate. The views were stunning. Staff were so lovely, friendly and welcoming. Full English breakfast was superb! Would highly recommend.

Immaculate hotel. From the moment we checked in, we felt informed and welcome. The room was spotless and we enjoyed an evening meal with gorgeous scenery. Easy to access Whitby town from. We stayed with two children (7 & 4) and they were well catered for. Would definitely stay again.

The staff were friendly and the room was nice and spacious and well equipped but the walls were a bit too thin and we could hear a lot of noise from adjoining room. Also some areas of the room were quite dusty and for the price expected a bit more cleanliness.

Lovely clean room, comfy bed. Ate in the bar & enjoyed a nice meal, friendly staff in bar area. It was not warm enough to sit in the garden but in warmer weather there were plenty of tables outside in a nice spacious garden. Hotel is situated away from the centre of whitby but is very handy for the park & ride bus service which works out much cheaper than using the town car parks.

The building and grounds are lovely but it’s far too noisy. Didn’t get a good night’s sleep either night! Right next to a busy main road and the traffic doesn’t seem to let up all night! Accelerating motorbikes going past at all hours and trucks shake the room! Also, customer service skills leave a lot to be desired. The girls attending the restaurant were pleasant enough but the guy who checked us in looked like he didn’t want to be there. Also, breakfast took around 50 minutes to arrive on Sunday morning after placing the order. When it came , the toast wasn’t toast, just bloomer bread. No apologies about the length of time it took either (from the same guy who checked us in the day before). Upon leaving , I would have aired these views had we been asked “ was everything ok with your stay” but nobody bothered to ask! Hence this review Basic customer service skills really! We won’t be staying again

Clean room, not a king bed in mezzanine room as stated in description. Only a double, evening meal ok. Stay not worth the £200 a night price tag. Breakfast was included but ate out the 2nd morning as it was average at best

A recently renovated property, with outstanding scenic views from most rooms. Very nicely decorated in all areas.

Hotel very good,but when booking be aware that the mezzanine rooms do not feature king size beds as indicated.Staff all very good,and the hotel well maintained.

The room was a reasonable size and it felt like it had been recently decorated to a good standard. The main issue concerns a lack of air conditioning. The room was warm and on speaking to a member of staff we were informed that we could open the window. We did, but it didn’t make much difference and it was also noisy as it opened on to an external corridor. We also asked for a fan that didn’t appear. Another issue concerns the early breakfast ordering deadline (9:30) and the checkout deadline (10:30). The hotel is fine, but we won’t be returning.

Everything was great except out room was right next to a main road with big lorries going by and there was a fan in the room that was humming all night there was nowhere to request another room as the staff all leave at night so no sleep for me.

Beautiful property and room. Four post bed, spa tub and stand-up shower. Room was huge, restaurant food was great and the bar had a relaxing atmosphere. The staff was very friendly too. I would absolutely come back and refer it to family/friends.

Excellent Stay at The Stables for a four night break, room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, plus a big thank you to Diana who rearranged our stay with an upgrade and we were absolutely made up with it. We had stayed here last year whilst it was being extended so it was nice to return to see it all finished. Cant wait to go again next year..

It was obvious on our arrival that they were short staffed. It took a long time to get checked in and we had to wait an hour for our meal to be served. My meal was not cooked properly and they replaced the chips. Others were making similar complaints.

Wasn’t very impressed with the stay overall. Our room felt like it was a motel room on the highway with no view/windows. For the price we paid I definitely wasn’t happy as the previous night we stayed in central Whitby with an unbelievable view for less. Other than one particular staff member who helped me on the last day I felt that most were not trained properly and rushing around /stressed out. One particular male server who was new I believe was incredibly rude and upset me quite a bit how he spoke with me and my husband.

Great location and lovely room, service poor from behind the bar, very slow and breakfast very average. All round a lovely stay would return.

Great service, excellent staff which has made the trip to whitby extra special

Initially booked into room 7 ( annex) . Hadn't fully appreciated the access issues / stairs / downstairs toilet/ wardrobe. Staff were brilliant and moved to room 15 inside hotel immediately. Friendly staff , great food and only 1.5 miles from Whitby . ( Although Park and Ride does not start until Spring) . Would certainly book again .

Amazing service. Staff so lovely and couldn’t do enough. Absolutely stunning setting, lovely food and beautiful room. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

We were very impressed by the excellent customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. Laura the manager was superb and we were really impressed with her enthusiasm The grounds were lovely and there was even a resident peacock!

The Stables is in a very good position just outside of town,sympathetically laid out inside the rooms and the grounds are lovely.But what makes this “inn” stand out is the efficiency of the manager LAURA,very professional friendly and a huge asset to this business ,would return without hesitation if in the vicinity…thank you Laura Tony,Jane and Louis(the puppy)

Great location apart from road noise at busy times

What a lovely find, handy for the park and ride into Whitby, which was literally a 2 minute walk across the road. Hotel was lovely, big carpark. I had one of the large mezzanine suites, more than I expected, unfortunately for me the heating was broken, stuck on HOT. The team quickly sourced maintenance to resolve the issue, but this needed further fixing and I was moved to another room. Another beautiful room with a view across the country side. I had the vegetarian breakfast and the 2nd morning the Eggs Royle both arrived quickly, fresh and hot. All staff I met were pleasant and friendly, I have recommended The Stables to friends and I would not hesitate to book again in the future.

Great hotel, really conveniently located right next to the park and ride for Whitby

This place was most definitely one of the best places I’ve stayed, great location, the grounds and view were very good too and overall happy with my stay here

Great place to stay, could get a little noisy with outside traffic. However, with park @ ride opposite, we did not have to take a car into town, so great location. Meals great, would fully recommend.

Really cute cozy inn, rooms were large and very clean. Food at the restaurant is gorgeous and all staff were so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back !x

Room was clean , service was good. But room was really hot so had to put on the fan. Also breakfast wasn’t very good! Sausages didn’t look cooked, not browned at all, fried eggs were rock hard and coffee was stale and tasted awful. Other guests said the same! :(

Breakfast was horrible. Took ages and was cooked by candlelight. Essentially a Spoons with a view...

Fabulous place to stay. The room was great. The food in the restaurant was fabulous and the staff just lovely. Will definitely be booking again. Worth every penny.

This place was excellent and the room was amazing. My only negative, would be that I had to pay for my flat white coffee with my breakfast. I would have thought that would have been included in the morning breakfast that was included with the room. Overall this place would get 5 stars all day long

Staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. Room was ok but biggest let down was the food, breakfast was poor both days we were there, and evenings meals were bland and dry. Expensive for the experience we got, which is a shame because hotel looks great and is in a good location to visit Whitby.

Lovely area/views, excellent friendly staff but the room was expensive for what it was. Tiny window high up so couldn’t see anything, noise from the road, no water/fridge in room, refreshments tray placed on dressing table area so near where you do your hair etc, no where to hang towels in bathroom, little things that would make a big difference. Good selection for cooked breakfast but poor options for continental.

Beautiful hotel, had a lovely stay and would stay again. Outstanding food and service, would highly recommend.
