Lovely place with a nice pool area, a beautiful view and really nice common areas. Quiet and out of the city. Breakfast was good. Parking was tight.

Loved the property and the infinity pool over looking the gorgeous view of San Jose. We enjoyed the breakfast too. Absolutely a great value for the price I highly recommend it.

This place was pleasant surprise near San Jose city center. The staff is friendly and polite. The property is well maintained and spacious. The hotel offers free parking inside the premises but it’s limited. We stayed at a Deluxe room with pool/city view and it was wonderful! They offer different options for breakfast a la carte style, what we ordered was acceptable. One thing to note is that this property is full of cats, I counted like around 10 and they are everywhere. This wasn’t and issue for me or my wife but keep this in mind if you’re allergic or simply don’t like them. I do think that with a few upgrades this B&B hotel could be the perfect place because all the potential is already there. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I will definitely come back.

Staff is extremely courteous and friendly, rooms and amenities make you feel cozy but the exterior looks abandoned, pool is rusted and floor is cracked. The view is exceptional, with some care this place could be a great place, one last thing i didn’t like is the fact that there is a piano that you can’t play because legs are broken. Overall is a good place to stay but definitely needs some repairs.

Beautiful hotel. Rooms are spacious and have their own entrance to the pool area. It feels like your own little villa/apartment. Only critique is that we were confused about where to park when we first arrived. The property is gated and on a narrow road with no good places to pull over while you find someone to let you in. Once they open the gate and direct you to a parking spot, you're set though. We otherwise enjoyed our stay very much. Breakfast was filling and tasty with good options. Would stay again!

Absolutely beautiful inside and out!! Staff was wonderful. We were so tired from driving from Puerto Viejo to San Jose that we just stayed at the hotel the whole night. So we didn't venture out, we just doordashed dinner to the hotel. Breakfast was great! Quiet area away from the hussle of the big city. Great views. The only downfall was parking but we didn't have any real issues with it because the staff had it organized, there was just limited space. Would definitely recommend and we would not hesitate to stay again!

This was one of the best boutique hotel stays I’ve ever been too! Everything was amazing - the view is incredible and it feels like you're living in a Spanish mansion. Every room is different and they even had a game room/library. I will stay here every time I visit San Jose.

My wife and I stayed here for one night before flying out of SJO. The property is beautiful and the views from the pool and living room are incredible both day and night. The property is in a great location and the history behind it is really interesting. There are a few friendly cats that live on the property (one of them hung out under the pool chairs we were sitting on). The free, made to order breakfast was delicious and quick. The only minor inconvenience we had was that the manual gates to enter the parking area were closed and it was unclear whether we were expected to keep them closed after entering/leaving the property

This property was great if you wanted to be close to San Jose. But if you’re looking to explore, I recommend you leave this location for your last days because there’s not many activities close by other than the city. The hotel has a bunch of cats and a dog called Luna. The pool is not in nice condition as is rusty but the VIEW is amazing from the pool and the balcony if you get one. The room was pretty spacious (got the king size bed room). With the cleaning I just felt like they didn’t really clean other than put new towels maybe but the room was prepared every time we got back to the hotel except for one day that they missed. One thing I didn’t like was the curtains were too light, no blackouts our anything… by 5am you were awake because of the sun coming through. The food breakfast provided was great. The guys at the from were also very nice and helpful and gave me lots of advice on where to go. Overall this was a 3.7/5

I really liked this hotel, it had a great breakfast. The rooms were big and clean. I liked their pool the only thing is I wish the clean out some of the bugs. Overall I love it, quiet and great for one night.

The whole facility was incredible - super clean, breakfast was great, view and grounds were spectacular, and the staff - Andreas and Ivan were so helpful and wonderful to chat with! Only improvement my wife suggests is providing a mattress topper option as the beds were firm. (No issue for me!) Oh need to mention the cats - she loved them!

The hotel was well designed along a hilltop with gorgeous views of San Jose in a quiet neighborhood from all the rooms and lobby. Art accents added personality. Wish I had time to dip in the pool overlooking the city. Breakfast was delightful. Can’t say enough positive about Posada El Quixote! Definitely would return.

Der Arbeitsbereich mit Arbeitsgeräten direkt neben uns. Die anderen Zimmer waren bedeutend besser. Schade!!! Der Blick vom Pool sehr schön, leider immer voller Blätter und Zoeten, gibt wohl keinen Service. Frühstück war minimalistisch, aber frisch. Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich, nicht alle hilfsbereit.

It’s a nice quaint place on an off the beaten path. Breakfast is provided everyday which is a plus. I stayed for six nights and during that time the television didn’t work three days out of six. Also, we didn’t have hot water until the fourth day of our stay. Hence the four stars. Was informed during the stay that we have to request housekeeping-really don’t understand that when you are not allowed to flush toilet paper or sanitary products down the toilet. That should be automatic. Overall the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The beds were soft and the views from the rooms were awesome.

Very clean and comforting environment. Feels very homey and inviting. Breakfast was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel condition, service, breakfast and view are amazing. The bed is not comfortable at all and the tv is wrong oriented.

Very beautiful property with an awesome view of the city from the pool! There was no air conditioning in my room but I had a fan and the temps were pretty mild. I would stay here again.

El hotel está bonito, habitaciones amplias y bien equipadas. Al estar a un lado de una calle transitada se vuelve ruidoso. La piscina está bien y tienen buen desayuno.

Zimmer war zwar etwas abgewohnt,aber ales sehr sauber. Schöner Pool. Frühstück okay.

Amazing staff and clean rooms. Sound carries easily and woke up to cats fighting in the middle of the night.

We absolutely loved our stay here. It’s a much more intimate bed and breakfast atmosphere and felt like a more authentic Costa Rican experience rather than staying in a normal hotel. Breakfast is cooked to order off their menu that includes plenty of vegan options! Their receptionist, Alcides took care of our every need from picking us up from the airport to setting up daily transportation, scheduling activities for us to do, and helping with our laundry. I also love the security of the property and that every guest needs a gate key to enter the gated off property. If I ever return to Costa Rica, this will be my go-to hotel.

Would've given this place a higher rating if it wasn't for the bad experience we had on our last day. There was a miscommunication on breakfast times from the staff, although they made it seem it was our fault and like we were crazy. The bald guy that sits in the front has a horrible attitude and definitely gives off the vibe that he just doesn't want to be there. The way he treated us and spoke to us on the last day of our stay proves he should not be in hospitality/service and is the main reason for my low rating. The saving grace were the sweet ladies in the kitchen that went out of their way to ensure we left to the airport fed and tried their best to ammend the situation. Overall, location is decent and for the price it makes sense. Place is outdated and there were lots of little bugs crawling in our room, including spiders. Breakfast is good but I hope after this incident they fire that bald guy and make some changes.

This place is fantastic. Alcides, Andrew and Fernando are the wonderful angels who take care of the guests and they work so hard to ensure everyone has a great stay. We felt like we were home. Beautiful pool and amazing view and a great breakfast not to mention the comfortable room. Don’t hesitate, just book this place!

Had a pleasant stay here at Posada el Quijote. Very friendly staff, knowledgeable and directed us to various areas all around costa rica based on our interests. The pool area has a super nice view. Breakfast was wonderful every morning. Gate is locked at night so you have to wait for gate keeper to get back in late. We tipped all the staff when we left for their amazing hospitality.

My husband and I stayed at Posada el Quijote for our honeymoon. Upon first arrival (at 10:30pm) we were feeling a little uneasy. This hotel is a little far away from the city…it was very dark and we couldn’t see the property well. We were thinking….Did we make a mistake? That all changed the moment we woke up the next morning. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The pool, the view, the architecture are all stunning. The breakfast is so filling and great tasting (lots of variety too!). But most of all, the STAFF. Alcides was there almost every day and he was fantastic. He helped us book all of our excursions, even going so far as to call on our behalf when one of the tour guides was late. He answered any and all questions we had, recommended tons of great places to go, and it truly felt like he cared about us personally. The other staff were all very kind too, but Alcides really went above and beyond to be welcoming. The room itself was clean and modest. Perfect for what we needed. In our opinion, one of the best parts about this hotel is that it is so QUIET. We stayed 8 days and maybe saw 10 other people. We enjoyed having the pool to ourselves nearly every morning, walking the grounds and enjoying our quiet retreat. The common areas are also very comfortable and welcoming. We never had a problem with getting food delivered (UberEats) or getting picked up as the location is clearly marked with multiple signs. We’ll definitely be back! TLDR: 10/10 would recommend!

This was a beautiful property with even better staff. They were so friendly and helpful. We had a late night flight and while we had to check out at 11am, they let us stay to use the pool and hang outside on their beautiful terrace all day. We would come back here anytime. Great views of San Jose and super helpful staff.

From now on, anytime I'm in San Jose, I will be staying at Posada Don Quijote. The place has a very Wes Anderson vibe going. The nicest staff, a great view, great pool and beautiful grounds, the rooms are clean and quiet, the common areas are tastefully constructed and pleasant to hang out in. It's a total winner.

Good service and excellent views, the the place is not convenient to anything. You do need a car to be there, and nothing is within walking distance. That said, there are no side walks and it is dangerous to walk. Also, parking is limited, so be sure to call in to say you have a car. The cicadas were particularly loud the day we were there. The decibel level was between 75-85 db, which I realize, there is nothing they can do about it short of getting sound proof windows. Staff is very nice, and professional. Breakfast was good.

This quiet hotel with a spectacular view is located above busy Escazu. It has a home like atmosphere and is a perfect retreat from the busy city below. The staff is very helpful. Close by is the Mariposa Kingdom which is a small butterfly sanctuary which has a nice pizza restaurant as well.

Loved our quick stay - the property is beautiful with a great view of the city. Quite outside the core so it is more difficult to find anywhere within walking distance for dinner etc.

A small property not far from downtown San Jose & surrounding excursions in the mountain areas. Quiet nights & great staff, that look to accommodate all needs.

My boyfriend and I had an AMAZING stay here. Front desk was so helpful, they can accommodate tours for you and shuttles to/from airport. The breakfast was delicious. The cats and dog were a highlight as a couple kept us company our entire stay. The pool was great and clean, we will definitely be coming back! You can access Ubers easily from this location as well but we honestly didn’t mind walking around. The view was great each day.

The staff and the pets were all great! There was a minor mistake with our room and it was immediately rectified, resulting in us getting a room upgrade. The breakfast options were awesome as well. From healthy to standard. Gluten-free and vegan dishes as well. We took Uber everywhere and it was very affordable. Preferred that to navigating the traffic. Driving around would have stressed us out and I mean, we're on vacation, lol. Definitely would stay here again.
