The hotel and grounds were kept in immaculate condition. We were greeted by the front desk staff eagerly and they offered a lot of help as we checked in and later booked some excursions in the area. All of the staff that we interacted with were friendly, polite and helpful. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. The room we stayed in was an older room located on the ground floor below the restaurant area. The room was comfortable and had a nice private outdoor terrace overlooking the gardens. The room felt like it could use a modern refresh, but it was functional. The hotel also had a fantastic orchid room that had fresh air and calming natural light. This room felt underused despite it being set up for dining or drinks. The restaurant on site has a wood burning fireplace for ambiance in the evening, and has a lovely large open air seating area to enjoy happy hour drinks while watching the sunset, or enjoying breakfast.

Stayed at the Monteverde Lodge early December 2024. Transportation from the cruise port or San Jose airport to this lodge is expensive (as is most transportation in Costa Rica because there are few good roads). The best option we found for transportation to the lodge was with Quality Travel Services. Better to fly into Liberia International Airport (LIR) because it is much closer to the lodge. While the lodge is situated in a very peaceful/quiet location, it is just a short walk to restaurants and other types of stores/services. Plan on spending some time walking the trails around the lodge. The grounds are beautiful. The views and sounds from the bedroom were amazing. Hearing the wind blowing through the trees and the waterfalls in the canyon below us was so peaceful. Leave your sound machine at home. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a separate menu for vegetarians. Everything we ordered was very good (and sometimes very unusual). Talk to Oscar (bar tender) in the restaurant about breweries and distilleries if that is your interest. Be prepared for rain as this is in the Monteverde rain forest. The lodge has umbrellas for your use if you need them. They also have rubber boots you can borrow (up to size 10 only) for your treks into the rainforest. If you don’t wear boots, chances are your feet will be very wet after any tour in the rainforest. The lodge also has transportation services and a variety of excursions.

Beautiful gardens, easy to walk on the hiking trails. Service was great and the Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly with us. The food and beverages ufff delicious! I spent one night with my sister. I will love to come back to Böëna in a future and spend more than 1 night with my whole family.

Super hôtel avec un service vraiment au top, les chambres sont très confortables, le personnel au petit soin et le restaurant est très bons avec une belle carte des vins. Les sentiers aménagés et la piscine chauffée sont un vrai plus.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at this beautiful hotel. We were greeted by friendly staff and a delicious welcome drink. The room was beautiful, clean, and had a peaceful stream running in the back. It was so amazing sitting on the balcony and refreshing your feet after a long day exploring and adventuring. The restaurant was amazing and had a ton of options for vegetarians like myself. The food and cocktails were DELICIOUS and the service was immaculate! We had relaxing massages on site enjoyed the many trails around the hotel. Additionally, the front desk staff helped us organize different activities with local tour guides. No negatives here. Would definitely recommend this gorgeous resort and hope we are lucky enough to visit once again! Pura Vida!

Everything was great. Had a room with an isolated view of a garden without anyone being able to walk past our window. The property was amazing— a nice pool (with birds and occasional monkeys) and an easy 5 min walk to the center of town. And still very quiet! Hope to go back

Lush greenery everywhere. Had a stream running next to our room! Complete privacy and great ambience. Very well maintained property. Had two trails in this property. And they allow guests to do trails (one is quite a challenge) on sister property. Excellent view from deck of other property. Staff is very nice. Breakfast was included and was good. Rooms very clean. And good decorations. The only issue we had was they have their some of the closet space inside the bathroom (which is quite big). But it's a hassle to use it. Other than that no issues.

We were greeted at the door by staff when we arrived and were given a welcome drink. The staff person allowed us to relax on the sofa as she took our check in information and explained highlights of the hotel. Our bags were quickly whisked away to a safe location until our room was ready. Even though we were early, we were given a room almost immediately. This hotel is just wonderful! The grounds are immaculate and very natural. There are several trails around the property to explore. It’s close to downtown and convenient to local attractions. The food at the restaurant is delicious and the staff is attentive. Monteverde Lodge and Gardens is quiet and serene. Each room faces some natural feature and ours even has a little stream bubbling in front! We highly recommend this place.

Beautiful property. The staff were all very nice and accommodating, the pool was great, and warm. Our room was small but we were rarely in it, comfortable bed and linens. The lobby, bar and restaurant were spacious and had stunning views.

This hotel is stunning, it is immaculately clean and modern! The food was absolutely incredible, and the staff were lovely especially at breakfast! We did not see any animals from our room, but we did catch a quick glimpse of a toucan at breakfast.

We had to change rooms due to a strong fragrance. The next room was much better but when we turned on the bathroom fan it smelled again - poor ventalation caused both of us headaches so we did not spend much time at the property for the three nights we booked. We wanted to dine there but it's close to $20 CDN for just a cocktail. No wonder the dining area was empty. It rains every night and the hotel does not offer TV so it was boring come the evening. On a positive note the breakfast was very enjoyable and Rebecca was most helpful to ensure our laundry was taken care.

Beautiful and serene the surroundings were. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, this is the perfect spot. The quiet atmosphere makes it an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The hotel itself was immaculately clean, which is always a top priority for us. Every corner was spotless, and you could tell that cleanliness is a key focus here. The staff truly pays attention to detail, from the tasteful decor to the little touches that made our stay extra special. We also appreciated the attentive and friendly service. The staff made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.

The grounds are stunning. Staff are polite, helpful, and efficient. The room was very nice but the en suite (shower in particular) is dated and not designed for tall people. The hotel in general is quiet, which is good as you can hear everything if someone is talking outside your door. Overall - very nice and would definitely stay again.

Beautiful serene property with comfortable rooms, excellent meals and friendly staff. The only reason I rated good versus excellent was due to occasional septic smells in the first floor bathroom and wait staff making a few order errors in the restaurant We enjoyed the sounds of the birds and brook outside of our room through open patio doors as the small deck did not accommodate furniture, and the massage I booked was excellent. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel with the suggestion to book a room on the second floor.

This hotel has a very classy look, beautiful architecture, extremely comfortable bed and sheets. The exterior gardens are walking trails are incredibly beautiful, providing a tranquil setting. However, they had a real problem with bugs. We found numerous cockroaches in our room, had to switch to an upper level room, which had far less bug issues, but they leave the back door to the garden wide open at night so many bugs fly or crawl in and by morning the lobby floor had bugs of all sorts all over it.

The room was always spotless. We would leave for an hour or two and always come back to a clean room and fresh towels. And the staff was amazing. Mike and Oscar, Jessica, Kevin, Ronald, And the staff that handled all the booking were like family to me and my girlfriend by the time we left. A big Thanks to Mike and Jessica and Oscars wife for making my girlfriends birthday so special. We will come to back every year because we loved everyone there so much. I can't say enough good things about the beautiful place and the grounds, Or the staff. All of it was just amazing including the food. Just outstanding!!

Staff and cleanliness perfect. Room awful . Very small. No Tv, No Fridge , no drawers to put things in and the most uncomfortable bed we have ever had. Terry view from the room with large wooden bits sticking up and very messy grass etc, I know it’s a sustainable hotel but that does not mean that you cannot have normal facilities.

The property was nice but lacking as there is nowhere to store you clothes other than a small area to hang things in bathroom. The problem with that is your clothes are always wet. Don’t make sense to put it in the bathroom. There were no draws or television. Also people should know there are many steps to get to your room or front desk/restaurant area.

The grounds are stunning. Staff are polite, helpful, and efficient. The room was very nice but the en suite (shower in particular) is dated and not designed for tall people. The hotel in general is quiet, which is good as you can hear everything if someone is talking outside your door. Overall - very nice and would definitely stay again.

Relaxing, peaceful and attractive hotel. Loved the atrium, garden and dining areas. Beds and linen are very comfortable. Also found the stream off our patio very relaxing. Only negative is that you can hear people in hallway and through the bathroom vent.

This property is absolutely beautiful and the food is delicious. My only complaint is the walls of the rooms are so thin making it so I could hear every little thing going on around me, which definitely disrupted the peacefulness of the hotel

They accommodated our request for first floor since there is no elevator. Room did not have a TV or a dresser. It did have a stream running outside our window which was lovely. Good at the restaurant was exceptional.

This Lodge is in a beautiful location. The sunset view from our room was breathtaking. The staff was beyond helpful and very friendly. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and very clean. We would definitely return! We didn't have a vehicle, but most of the tours we booked picked us up here with no problem. We even booked some tours right through the hotel, which was very convenient. We walked to a nearby grocery store and strip mall for evening meals. Just wonderful all around!

This property boasts “sustainability” as an excuse to offer limited amenities and save on their electric bill. Maids turn the AC off each time you leave the room so you come back to a hot room every time and there are no tvs or refrigerators in the rooms.

Staying at the Monteverde Lodge was one of the highlights of our CR trip. The setting with the jungle/window outside the property was tranquil. The food is amazing! Everything was presented beautifully. They set us up on several awesome tours with Rafael and we saw lots of wildlife we would never see on our own. The gardens and trails are gorgeous. We even saw a pack of capuchin monkeys climbing over the roof when we left. The staff did everything possible to ensure an excellent stay.

Great location, nestled in the wilderness but at the same time at a walking distance to the town and shops. Excellent and very pleasant staff- top marks! Delicious food, fantastic ambience, and wonderful very helpful reception staff. All the drivers who drove us to the resort, tours and to the airport were very good and courteous. Nuestra estadía en el hotel fue maravillosa. El hotel está muy bonito y lo tienen muy bien conservado. Tienen espacios muy agradables y senderos, y el restaurante la verdad fue de lo mejor que probamos en Monteverde. El personal del hotel sumamente amable, nos atendieron en recepción Ariana y Yerlin, y nos asesoraron sobre las actividades de tours disponibles y nos apoyaron en reservarlas. Teníamos algunas dudas y fueron muy amables en ayudarnos a resolverlas. Incluso me ayudó un buen rato para ver la mejor ruta para tomar carretera a Tamarindo. Durante nuestra estadía fue cumpleaños de mi esposa y mandaron un cupcake a la habitación con una vela. Sin duda repetiría quedarme aquí por el servicio y el lugar.

We were going back and forth between a few different properties and we are so glad we ended up going with this one!!! The staff was amazing and attentive (especially Hamid and Kevin), the staff went above and beyond to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible, the bedding was great, and the grounds made you feel like you were on a retreat. We loved the intimate feel and getting to know the staff. We were sad to leave but look forward to the opportunity to return!

We were greeted at the door by staff when we arrived and were given a welcome drink. The staff person allowed us to relax on the sofa as she took our check in information and explained highlights of the hotel. Our bags were quickly whisked away to a safe location until our room was ready. Even though we were early, we were given a room almost immediately. This hotel is just wonderful! The grounds are immaculate and very natural. There are several trails around the property to explore. It’s close to downtown and convenient to local attractions. The food at the restaurant is delicious and the staff is attentive. Monteverde Lodge and Gardens is quiet and serene. Each room faces some natural feature and ours even has a little stream bubbling in front! We highly recommend this place.

Stayed at the Monteverde Lodge early December 2024. Transportation from the cruise port or San Jose airport to this lodge is expensive (as is most transportation in Costa Rica because there are few good roads). The best option we found for transportation to the lodge was with Quality Travel Services. Better to fly into Liberia International Airport (LIR) because it is much closer to the lodge. While the lodge is situated in a very peaceful/quiet location, it is just a short walk to restaurants and other types of stores/services. Plan on spending some time walking the trails around the lodge. The grounds are beautiful. The views and sounds from the bedroom were amazing. Hearing the wind blowing through the trees and the waterfalls in the canyon below us was so peaceful. Leave your sound machine at home. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a separate menu for vegetarians. Everything we ordered was very good (and sometimes very unusual). Talk to Oscar (bar tender) in the restaurant about breweries and distilleries if that is your interest. Be prepared for rain as this is in the Monteverde rain forest. The lodge has umbrellas for your use if you need them. They also have rubber boots you can borrow (up to size 10 only) for your treks into the rainforest. If you don’t wear boots, chances are your feet will be very wet after any tour in the rainforest. The lodge also has transportation services and a variety of excursions.

Our group loved this hotel. The Lodge feels secluded with scenic views from the rooms, and short walking trails at the property - all while only being a short walk (with sidewalks) to town. The dining is indoor and outdoor, with expansive vistas. The food was creative, well presented and delicious! The rooms are spacious with peaceful outdoor seating. Our excursions were conveniently within 20 minutes and the concierge staff were so helpful in recommending and assisting with our requests. All of the staff were attentive! beautifully situated in Santa Elena. Entrance is in a busy area but the property is tucked into a dreamy rainforest with trails and beautiful outdoor features. Simple, elegant, meticulously maintained. Everyone was so gracious and welcoming! We LOVED our stay!

Everything was great. Had a room with an isolated view of a garden without anyone being able to walk past our window. The property was amazing— a nice pool (with birds and occasional monkeys) and an easy 5 min walk to the center of town. And still very quiet! Hope to go back

Beautiful property in Monteverde. We loved walking around the gardens and hiking paths. Our first day we immediately saw monkeys. Rooms are lovely and the restaurant food is delicious. Breakfast was amazing. Easy walk to town.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at this beautiful hotel. We were greeted by friendly staff and a delicious welcome drink. The room was beautiful, clean, and had a peaceful stream running in the back. It was so amazing sitting on the balcony and refreshing your feet after a long day exploring and adventuring. The restaurant was amazing and had a ton of options for vegetarians like myself. The room was always spotless. We would leave for an hour or two and always come back to a clean room and fresh towels. And the staff was amazing. Mike and Oscar, Jessica, Kevin, Ronald, And the staff that handled all the booking were like family to me and my girlfriend by the time we left. A big Thanks to Mike and Jessica and Oscars wife for making my girlfriends birthday so special. We will come to back every year because we loved everyone there so much. I can't say enough good things about the beautiful place and the grounds, Or the staff. All of it was just amazing including the food. Just outstanding!!

We stayed at Monteverde Lodge for 3 nights and booked tours with them. The Concierge services were really helpful in organising transport to and from the hotel as well as tours. We started with a night tour and the following days went to Sky Park and Monteverde Cloud Forest. The transport was efficient. The Guides were fantastic- very knowledgable, friendly and were able to show us a wide range of wild life, flora and fauna. The spoke excellent English. The staff at the hotel were equally friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with very comfortable bed. The meals were delicious. We would highly recommend staying at the Lodge. It was easy to walk to the shops and restaurants in nearby Santa Helena
