Comfort Inn & Suites Lawrence - University Area

It was disappointing the pool wasn't in service. We stayed there with family so that the kids could swim. Would have been nice to know before we booked. The breakfast was very good.

We picked hotels with pools and breakfast for our multi-day road trip, so the teens were excited about hitting the pool. However, it was immediately clear that the very small pool had zero chlorine in it and the water was murky (and there were about 15 people in it already). The teens has already gotten in by the time I realized. I made them get out, but it was too late; both were sick by the next morning (and the next two days!). I let the desk know that night about the chlorine and the desk clerk told me he didn't know anything about it. The mgr the next day said they only put the chemical in on certain days!!! Yikes. Other than that (which greatly affected our trip, btw), the morning clerk was fabulous, they had a great breakfast that ran til 10AM, and the room was adequate.

Bathrooom sink backed up everyday. Parking lot with potholes, on a busy road and could hear semi's all night long. Overall, staff were courteous and helpful. I stayed 5 days. Id stay there again, but ask for other side of hotel away from road for better sleep.

We have stayed at multiple Comfort Inns over the years, but this location was very disappointing. The AC in our room was very loud and the constant fan button wasn't working. It would turn on and off very loudly throughout the night. The halls were very warm. Breakfast was below average. Potatoes were undercooked, gravy was cold, and the coffee from a machine tasted like it was instant. The parking lot had several large potholes that had to be avoided. Do not recommend.

It was one of the nicest Comfort Inns I've stayed in. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Had an awesome breakfast with lots of choices. Was well worth the reasonable price. The pool was just right temperature wise and very clean. Will stay there again.

No pool the gym was no function and was under construction

One of the box springs to bed was broken. Adults couldnt use it as sank in the middle. The pool was very cold and not filled all the way.

This is a perfectly adequate hotel at a good price and a safe area. Unfortunately the elevator stopped working on day 2 of our 3 day trip, but it’s only a 2 story hotel so not too bad. :)

Very clean. Spacious room. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Breakfast was fresh and appetizing.

Black mold in the bathroom. Hardly any water pressure in the bathroom sink. Shower fixtures were loose when turning the water on and off. Terrible smell (damp and musty smell) throughout the room

It is exactly what you expect. A little dated, a little dinged up but super clean and very attentive and helpful staff.

First, I have to say that all of the staff that we interacted with were wonderful, very helpful and friendly. No issues there. Second, the property was disgusting. The first room that they put us in (318) had signs of bedbugs. The second room (108) was a pet-friendly room and stank of wet dog. There was a hole punched in the bathroom door and black mold in the corner of the shower. Pet hair all over the bed skirts. I wish that I had asked for a refund and let the hotel but after unloading 3 kids and all of our luggage I didn’t feel up to it. We also noticed black mold in the lemon water dispenser. Pool was small and cloudy. Breakfast offerings were good. When we checked out I was informed that the hotel would be renovating in the fall. That doesn’t change that it’s currently a dump with poor cleaning practices. Not worth $150 per night whatsoever. DO NOT recommend, even once updated.

The room was clean and quiet.

Booked for two nights when moving daughter into KU. After arriving and not being very impressed with the room for the price because of general uncleanliness and smell, we inquired at front desk about if we could get a refund if we cancelled 2nd night. We were told we could ask the manager that would be in in the morning. The next morning we asked the manager and we were told we could get a refund if we check out and they are able to rent the room. We decided to take the gamble as we really weren’t wanting to spend another night in that room and left the keys ant the front desk after our conversation with the manager. I checked the website frequently and never saw our double room available. I emailed inquiring about a refund the next morning as it looked as though they must have rented it and I was told no. They did not clean it or check us out so they were not able to rent it the 2nd night, so no refund. I responded with I checked out and left the keys after the 1st night. The reply from the manager made it sound like it was our decision to leave the keys and they did not check us out so they couldn’t clean or rent our room. We were under the impression that we were checking out and hoping it would get rented since it was a busy weekend and we could get our $175 back. Why would we leave the keys and not want them to clean and try to rent the room? No response after 2nd request for refund as it was not my fault they didn’t even try to rent it. Would not recommend

everything was great. It was a really good price for the cleanliness of the place. The staff was nice. The floors seem like they're probably a bit dirty in the rugs, not because I could see the dirt, but just because it seems like the rugs were worn more than other hotelsbut the rest of the room was better than expected.

Bed was great!

I chose this hotel as it had a pull-out sofa bed which was needed, but it was more or less just springs. The room needed repairs - bathroom door didn't want to close and the closet door wouldn't close so the entry door would bang into it every time you went into the room. I know you get what you pay for, but I did expect a little better. The breakfast eggs also tasted like they were made from powder.

Good experience, only problem is that the water pressure is bad in the shower.

The hotel was clean but in need of updating. The furniture is dated and the bathroom was in need of repairs. The towel bar fell off the wall because one side was missing a screw. The hair dryer did not work and the faucet handle for the shower was not attached so it would fall off when turning on the water. Also, after flushing the toilet, the water would not stop running unless you jiggled the handle a certain way. The clock next to the bed was ancient and didn’t work because the power cord was missing.

It was hot in our room but the heating/ac unit is crazy loud and sounds like the fan is going out or something so we had no airflow in the room. Also the TV remote didn't work correctly. It stuck and was a pain. Hotel could use some updates to things people use, like tvs and room temperature control stuff.

Front desk attendant was NOT kind and rather rude. Room was okay but not for what was spent. Limited parking due to construction I believe. Won’t be staying here again.

We were in Lawrence for KU Basketball game. They had one person manning check in desk, that was half dead. She wasn’t enthusiastic, she wasn’t smiling, she wasn’t snappy or on the ball. It took her 15-20 minutes to check in the foursome in front of us. She did apologize for the wait. But why don’t you have backup when you have a line of people waiting? And someone as slow as the second coming? The bathroom door was filthy. Dirty finger marks running entire length of door and tons of scuff marks across the bottom. Why don’t you paint it? Everything else seemed clean, but the pillow cases were not bright white. I’m sorry I was so grossed out. We have stayed here before. What the hell has happened? When we left in morning, the guy behind counter NEVER looked up. We went past him 3 times. The only bright light was the lovely lady working the breakfast area. She greeted us and was very engaging and pleasant to talk to! God Bless Her! Maybe you can’t find pleasant, personable, people persons to run front desk, for what you are paying, and I don’t know what you are paying. We were disappointed. You don’t need to print this review, but someone needs to know what your customers are experiencing. For the record, this is the first review I have ever written, this was just too much.

I liked that it was right off the interstate, which made it easy to get to and it was so close to Iowa street so that we could go around town easily as well.

Initial room smelled bad but they moved us to another room that was much better (after some pushback). Was disappointed with the quality of the breakfast…cold eggs, tater tots and sausage when it was fresh at 6am. Hotel was fine but nothing special. On a positive note the bed was comfortable and slept well!

Having Breakfast was nice except scrambled eggs were bland, and it would of been nice to see bacon as well. When booking, wasn’t aware they were remodeling, Some staff members seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Are stay was okay.

Tge room was way too hot and the A.C. didnt work well enough. The entire breakfast was cold, including the eggs, sausage gravy, and the biscuits. The towels were like sandpaper, too.

We had a great stay once again! Breakfast is always very good, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and modern. The staff is always so friendly and helpful! We have stayed here multiple times and will be back again!

This hotel needs some updating...and breakfast was cold!

No complaints, didn’t spend a lot of time in the room as we were there for a volleyball tournament. The dining area was restocked promptly and kept clean. We’re from out of state and this was our second time to stay there.
