The Sands at Grace Bay

This is the second time we have stayed here, and we intend to keep coming back! We love the screened balcony for morning coffee and afternoon happy hour. Full kitchen, comfy and large living room, in-room laundry, very comfortable bed -- everything one wants and needs at home but in a resort setting. Hemingway's (on-site restaurant), both food and service, is excellent. Nice fitness area. Thatched palapas on the beach, and when they are all occupied, the friendly and hard-working staff erect a second row of umbrellas and chairs. Grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained. And the beach: the most beautiful beach we have ever been on, with literally miles to walk in both directions. Great dining options within walking distance, and sidewalks to keep one out of traffic. The Sands even lends bicycles, if one prefers!

The grounds are lush and have well manicured gardens. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only drawback was no elevators. But our stay was very relaxing and fun.

Beautiful property. As someone who vacations to Cancun and St.Thomas, the beach at the resort was just as if not more beautiful. The water is photoshop version blue and warm. The beach itself in terms of the sand is the deeper kind of sand so a bit tough to walk through but not rocky at all. The beach could be picked up better as there was some garbage around and things left on chairs multiple days. Pools and “lazy river” are great, the pool closest to the beach was way too warm but the other two are cooler. Loved that there are little nooks and crannies with loungers for privacy and quiet. They are building a big resort next store but the noise from it was not annoying and not super noticeable. As many people have said, the service as Hemingways restaurant is sooo slowwww. The food is average there but the sister resorts food is great and there is a free shuttle that will take you to those every hour. It’s a very relaxing, very beautiful, a calm vibe all around. The pools do not have the loud music and people trying to get you to play volleyball and do yoga like Cancun does. It’s much more serene and leave you alone. The only big negative was the spa. It was not a spa, it was a room that was sterile and not calm or relaxing at all. The actual massages themselves were poor quality and it is VERY expensive. As someone who gets massages regularly, and for my much cheaper, I was very disappointed I paid anything for that service, let alone what it actually cost.

Easily walkable to coffee in the morning, along with shops for souvenirs. Beautiful Grace Bay beach, well kept, helpful staff always around to help with chair setups, lots of beach chairs, wifi good and strong even at the beach, and parking was free at the hotel for our rental car. It was all perfect.

Love the property's facilities, clean pools, lovely private beach with amenities, spa at the resort, in the resort lively bar and restaurant, shuttle service to other resorts/ restaurants, complimentary bike and kayaking, and staff is very helpful arranging water sport activities, kids friendly atmosphere Amongst the Best vacation trip, beautiful, relaxing

Small, private, quiet, excellent beach. Should provide free cold water stations around the property.

Loved our stay at the Sands. Beach is unreal, loved the complimentary water toys, bikes and screened porch. Pools and hot tub were nice and lovely but the beach was our spot. You can go down early and claim a palapa umbrella by putting towels on the chairs. Even later in the day it rarely filled totally up. There are no other resorts directly on either side of the Sands and it made for a quieter feel. Perfect weather and no bugs our week. Location is great. We could walk or bike to shops and restaurants or the fish fry. Sands workers were friendly and tried to help if they could with any minor problems. Yes, you pay more and you’re on “island time” compared to the USA but plan for that and relax. Already saving up and planning a return. Hated the amount of boats (tour, parasail, towing toys, etc.) that are going way too fast, just outside the swimming ropes all along Grace Bay. Too dangerous and loud and smelly creating unwanted waves. Would truly be paradise without them right there. Saw Jojo the dolphin go by one day! Magical place.

If you want "fine" this is your place. I have to say, the staff was OK, nothing exceptional, also nothing bad. The room was fine, there was no one at the resort so nothing was crowded, but there was a TON of construction all around which was BEYOND disappointing and very disturbing. Not only the new resort being built NEXT DOOR so there was CONSTANT cranes and hammering and drilling and TONS of noise from that, but also this resort seemed to be doing lots of repairs on units as well so there was jackhammering of tile patios and hammering with screened porches being replaced, and not just like a few minutes of noise, it was ALL DAY from 8am until 4pm! No peace and quiet by the pool, no peace and quiet at the beach. In fact, they were also replacing the boardwalk access to the beach so there was that inconvenience and noise as well. I truly wish someone had been honest about all of this in my booking, I would have chosen a different property. Instead they hid this and made my vacation to celebrate my birthday very annoying and unenjoyable. At least Tracy and Carolyn and the restaurant staff were nice, sad, but true that was the highlight of the entire week!

Stayed at The Sands for 5 nights. Construction nextdoor at future St. Regis Resort is constant, 7 days a week, and work begins at 7AM and lasts all day. The sawing and power tool sounds penetrate the rooms and can be heard while trying to relax on the beach / at the pool as well. We didnt have a working TV in our living room the entire stay after 2 calls on 2 different days to request it be fixed. Toilet clogged in one of the two bathrooms and no one came to fix it (someone in our party had to fix it themself). The beach and pool area were great and Hemingway’s was a nice restaurant on-site. Close proximity to the town as well.

This hotel was price correctly but please be warned there's no elevator or room service.

We loved staying at The Sands at Grace Bay. The property was very clean and beautiful! We loved the pools and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

The property itself was beautiful. Great beach and in a good spot easily walkable to the downtown area. There were a few quirks with our room (toilet was broke and they ran out of body wash) which were annoying. The restaurant on site was decent but not amazing. My biggest hang up was the staff was not super friendly or accommodating which you’d think they would be seeing as their jobs exist with tourism. There was construction next door but it didn’t really bother us. Overall, id stay there again if I had to. It was really nice. I might try another resort next time just to compare.

The hotel and staff provided a great and relaxing atmosphere. However the shower head was green and filled with mold, the air conditioning did not work in the bathroom creating a sour smell. The room is small but that wasn’t a problem. There are several pools walking distance from the beach and Thursday night fry.

Premises are fine. What we didn't like is our room: floor had not cleaned properly (lots of sands). TV in the living room did not work. Overall, the room is not in top shape and would need to be refurbished

Beautiful resort in the middle of grace bay. Good restaurant on property, great beach and pool. Room was clean and spacious. Construction next door of large hotel was a little noisy but it didn’t really bother us.

The room was large and very well equipped and decorated, except for the mattress of the sofa bed which was really bad. The hotel changed it only after many complains and eventually gave us a dusty mattress smelling of mould. When we complained again they tried to fix the problem with a clean cover but it was then the end of the week and not at all the best solution. We didn’t like either the fixed mosquito nets on the terrace; the fixed nets become dusty and the view on the ocean were definitely ruined by the nets. We also didn’t appreciate the poor service on the beach: at 5 pm all the chairs were stacked just in the middle of the beach, and guests had to move their staff elsewhere. Also be aware that the hotel is just next a huge construction site of new hotel/condos: it is fair to say that the construction is visible from many other places of the beach and that there are also many other construction sites all over the island. Yet, the Sands is just next to it. Overall, the structure is nice with well kept gardens, and with a small effort from the management it will definitely improve a lot.

The Sands was a lovely resort. Grace Bay is our favorite place in the world and The Sands is also conveniently located to the shopping area as well. We loved the pool facing the ocean and the restaurant on site was cute. However, I would not reserve a first floor Garden Suite again. We were disappointed in ours as the patio area was enclosed and there was no airflow. It was very hot and surrounded by foliage so felt a little claustrophobic. We asked to be moved to the second floor and the staff was very lovely and accommodating. Our second floor suite was very nice!

Absolutely terrible experience. We originally planned to stay for two nights, but due to the poor condition of the property and unprofessional behavior from the manager, we decided to leave and stay elsewhere. The room had a strong rust-like odor, and to make matters worse, while I was in the bathroom, I noticed water spilling out from another room — it was a complete mess. I’m extremely disappointed in this place.

Small resort with one restaurant. Beach and ocean is amazing, plenty of chairs, umbrellas. Not crowded at pool. Our Jr Ocean View suite was not as pictured on website. Door opened in bedroom. Had to walk through bedroom to hall with bath then to living/kitchenette. Very awkward layout. Very limited ocean view with main view of parking lot. Bathroom extremely small. One small mirror and sink. Not big enough for my husband and I to use at once. Rooms were clean, but no decor on walls/not homey or beachy feeling. No blankets in room or on bed, just sheets. Asked for one every day and got one last day there. No ATM on property. Closest one is at grocery store. Hotel does not take Discover even though welcome book says they do. My husband and I got food poisoning one night from Hemingways (the resort restaurant). Just a few blocks away from the cute little town which has great restaurants and grocery store. Everything very pricey in Turks. Always felt very safe off and on resort. Have been to many all inclusives and resorts in Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican, Bahamas. Overall, for the price I did not feel this was worth the extra money. Paid about double what we would have at other all inclusives.

Decent place. Room is a bit dated . Was not thrilled with my ocean view room I paid extra for, and was more a view of a parking lot. Food at the restaurant was hit or miss.

Great Beach. Restaurant and beach staff were awesome. Only issue was our initial room was a dark dingy room on the first floor. It felt like we were in a NYC basement apartment not in Turks. We never stayed in that room and were moved to a 2nd story pool view room, which is what you expect when you go to an island. Even the layout of the new room was much better. Property is nice just make sure you don't get a first-floor room with no views.

Amazing room with screened in balcony.

The resort is nice but more dated than the online views reveal. The kitchen floor tile was chipped and broken in many places. Hair, trapped under the sink, The refrigerator was old, it was creeky and squeaked loudly each time we opened and closed the door. holes in the base of the bed covering frame under the mattress that were very visible. I took pics upon arrival just in case. A bit disappointing for the nightly rate charged but the balance of the resort was nice. Hemingways restaurant on site was fantastic. Ms. Carolyn the GM, made our anniversary . Also, the resort was unable to accommodate my request for a 3rd floor ocean view room. Oh, and for an ocean view keep in mind it’s not ocean front. We were in the farthest building from the ocean in building 6. Hard to see the water. Screened in porches were a plus but still was eaten alive outdoors by ‘noseeums’. The resort should perhaps invest in commercial auto spray for insects.

Costumer service was excellent. Couldnt be happier with the staff. The room was average overall. Comfy bed. The bathroom was cramped due to design. Shower entrance, bathroom door and sink all converged a one point. The sink above the mini fridge was inset so far pu hit ypur head on the pantry closet above just trying to turn on the water.

I love this resort, been going for the last 7 years. Can't wait for next summer. Once there I don't want to leave. The stafff ALL just amazing, so friendly, including the restaurant and at beach. This is my paradaise as I call it.

Loved the accommodations! Lots of room and updated rooms! Great Lanai screened in porches as well. The ladies at the front desk were always helpful and the concierge was great as well. The only critique would be the timeliness of the service at Hemingway's Restaurant. Meals and drinks often took a significant time (always delicious - but be ready to wait) and the bartenders, it would be nice to see a smile :)...that said, great beach, pools, rooms - I would recommend!

The front desk staff was friendly, professional and accommodating. Carolyn at Hemingway’s was very attentive. The resort has beautiful grounds and pool with stunning beachfront views.

Staff was great with the exception of the front desk. No one ever spoke unless checking in/out. Reported issues with our room multiple times and was told someone would come and never did. Great place to stay as long as you don’t need to interact with staff in the lobby or have a room with issues.

I had the worst experience at The Sands. I will never recommend this hotel for anyone to stay. The front desk staff was absolutely terrible! No greeting, no smiles or welcome. In fact the front desk manager was the absolute worst, rolling her eyes and felt bothered that I was asking questions. The other front desk W.C was rude and zero customer. No one offered fruit punch or rum punch when the family next to me was offered. I was charged by Hemingway restaurant when checking out when I didn’t even step into that restaurant not once. Whole experience was terrible! Never again!

The sands was amazing. Was greeted with a welcome drink to kick off the vacation. Staff was great, just wish the servers at the Hemingways were a little nicer and focused more on giving guests a better experience.

The staff was very welcoming, attentive. The grounds were beautiful, rooms had everything we needed and were comfortable and restaurant was great!

The hotel staff were not very friendly or helpful. Each day we had interactions with staff where they just seemed to be inconvenienced when helping us. Very strange since most resorts I've traveled to understand they are in the business of hospitality and exceptional service is important. This was confirmed when we traveled to a few other resorts to use their restaurants and the staff at other places went above and beyond to welcome and wait on us.

Excellent and relaxing stay in the perfect location in Grace Bray. Walkable to all the major restaurants, staff is excellent and rooms are nice and spacious. Would absolutely stay again! Beautiful beach too!

Great location, right on the beautiful beach and close to shops and restaurants!

My family and I stayed at the Sands resort from January 25-January 31 for vacation and friends stayed at the same resort as well. We had a great time! The resort is small and walk-able and the best part is the accessibility to the beach and downtown. The food at Hemingway's was solid and convenient for grabbing a quick lunch. We usually walked downtown for breakfast and dinner- less than 10 minutes to get to the restaurants and shops and very safe! Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Highly recommend it for families- they had toys and floats on hand and access to kayaks and paddle boards were included. We will definitely come back to The Sands at Grace Bay!

Location on Grace Bay beach is amazing. Staff and facilities are wonderful.

The staff was extremely friendly. We ate a couple times at their restaurant, Heminway's, and it was delicious each time.

Hemingways Restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was all very friendly. I will definitely consider going back.

Loved the location, amazing beach, great and friendly staff, good dining options and close to the shops. This is construction next door and the tvs were broken but it didn’t bother us.
