Kawaguchiko Hotel

The staff are excellent, friendly and extremely helpful. We had a Japanese style room which was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was a set Japanese menu which changed each day. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it. The onsen was relaxing and there is a great view of Mount Fuji from the observation deck, cloud permitting!

공동욕장이 공사중이여서 사용하지 못했지만, 그 외 모두 만족스러웠다. 2박 숙박하는 동안 조식 메뉴도 변경되어 나왔고, 무료 송영 서비스도 잘 이용했다. 아주 오래된 호텔이지만 나름의 질서를 가지고 운영되고 있는 것 같았다. 조식후 로비에서 마시는 커피 한잔이 머무는 동안 기분을 더 좋게 해주었다. 공동욕장이 운영되었으면 사용할 일이 적었겠지만.. 그래도 욕실은 리모델링되어 깨끗하고 사용에 큰 불편은 없었다. 시설은 오래되었으나 감안하고 이용하면 만족스러울 것이다. 가성비 면에서 매우 좋았고, 레이크 뷰는 훌륭했다.

洗面台用のタオルと使い捨てのコップがあるといいなと思いました。 それ以外はサウナもあるしお風呂から富士山も一望できるし、朝のコーヒーが無料だし、受付の雰囲気はさすが昭和天皇が宿泊しただけあってクラシックでカッコよかったです。 サウナは外気浴と朝も稼働してたら完璧だったな

The onsen was amazing, the view of the lake and mount fuji from the baths are georgous. The hotel also has an elegant bar/billard room which we got to enjoy at no extra cost.

The hit tin with view and the breakfast are great but the hotel is very dated and cold in the communal areas

The hotel is old but it is clean and tidy. The greenery around the hotel is carefully maintained. There is an observation deck on the top floor, where you can overlook Mount Fuji if its not too cloudy. They have wifi, free use of the laundry room and daily free shuttle to the station

This was a very cool and historic hotel to stay in. The location is great, which is either a short shuttle ride or about 15-20 minute walk from the bus station. It is walking distance to the cable car ropeway and swan boats that can be taking out on the lake. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Staff were very helpful in helping us arrange luggage transportation and wonderful massages in our room. Take advantage of the observatory and public bath with views of Fuji. They have great game room with billiards and other games with great energy and people hanging out in the area. The bar drinks were a bit overpriced.

Super friendly staff, the onsen is unreal and there’s free transport to Kawaguchiko main station. We stayed in a beautiful traditional Japanese room and even the breakfast is in traditional fashion. The building itself is also very traditional. There’s so much more fun stuff that I could talk about but best you go and find out yourself. Ten out of ten stay! Definitely recommend and I would love to come back again! Thank you for the stay and this experience :)

Great stay. Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Had no issues as English-speaking travelers. Loved the onsen, traditional breakfast, and Mt. Fuji observation deck. Location is beautiful and very close to lakeside attractions and restaurants.

Overall the stay was good. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is not heated except for your room and the breakfast area. If you like the whole hotel to be temperature controlled then I would choose a different place.

Clean old property with friendly staff.

The vistas were absolutely breathtaking, the shared baths were clean and comfortable, the room was spacious and held to the traditional cultural feel of Japan, and the waitstaff were friendly and informative (despite me checking in a bit late).

風景很漂亮，房間也大但房間過於老舊，廁所有異味也沒有免治馬桶，家具都很有歷史的痕跡，清潔也沒有完全確實做好，不會再入住！

Family of 3. Had lake view Japanese style room. Futons were comfy. View was amazing. You have to get the traditional Japanese breakfast. The onsen was clean and quiet. Women’s side can see Mt Fuji on a nice day. Men’s side has lake view. This is a family run, small hotel built in the 1950s. It’s still decorated as such and reminds me of my grandma’s house; so if you are looking for modern updates this is not the place for you. If you like history and traditional then I think you should try it. I would definitely come back again.

Great option for price. walls were a little thin and could hear other guests. Perfect location.

Amazing property right beside Lake Kawaguchiko. Walking distance from major areas including the train station, convenience stores and restaurants. Room is a bit dated and the beds could be updated better but overall doable. Service is great. We opted for the breakfast one one of the days and it was an awesome traditional breakfast. I would consider staying here again the next time I'm back.

This was such a great value!!! The hotel is really cool. After staying at other westernized hotels in Japan, it was a breath of fresh air staying in a more retro, authentic hotel. Our room was very big and the view of the lake was AMAZING. It was such a perk for us because we couldn't see Fuji much while we were there (because of weather). The amenities were great - free coffee in the mornings, easy shuttle service to Kawaguchiko station, a view of Fuji from both the observatory and the onsens!! The staff was so friendly and helpful. This was a highlight of my trip.

Great stay! The view nearby is stunning and the staff were all very accommodating and professional. My only nitpick is that the AC in the room wasn’t working properly so it was a bit hot at night.

This is a lovely old place. I loved the traditional Japanese-style room, complete with futon & tatami mat! The staff are very kind, and the hotel has a lot of amenities & locations to explore within, all with a unique, authentic retro style. The size of the room felt palatial compared to the ones I had in Tokyo and Kyoto. I like the location - you can easily walk to good restaurants, e-bike/boat rentals, Lawson’s & the Scenic Ropeway, yet it still feels remote enough to be relaxing. My only big disappointment was the privacy/modesty window cling in the ladies’ onsen. I understand why it has to be there, as that side faces a neighborhood, but it ruins the view. If you are actually sitting down in the bath, you can’t see anything. I strongly suggest this hotel to look into window treatments that will stop people from looking in but not stop your guests from looking out. “Bathing while enjoying a view of Mt.Fuji” was a major reason I booked this property, so this was frustrating for me. If it can’t be replaced, why not alternate the baths? I noticed from the street that the lakeside men’s bath has no such block. Additionally… a sign with onsen etiquette might go a long way. I witnessed many of my fellow travelers hopping right into the bath without showering properly, not understanding what to do with their towels, etc. This is obviously not the hotel’s fault, but they might be able to help it a bit~

I had an incredible room regardless of Fuji-San hiding during my stay, the view of the hills and lake was breathtaking. Lovely Staff. The onsen was wonderful. The Obaasan’s at breakfast were so kind and hardworking. This was my favourite food in Japan so far! The staff at the desk were kind and helpful. The breakfast is good and with a great value for money. The room is spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is recently renovated. The shuttle bus is very convenient. Staff is helpful, kind and can speak good English. Great value for money overall. I give this hotel the highest rating partly because they helped me to recover my forgotten wallet: On my way to airport, I could not find my wallet. As I had careful searched the room before I left, I suspected that it was slipped into the gap underneath one of the beds. I make a call to the hotel asking them to search especially the gaps underneath the beds. They replied shortly with good news. At my request, they sent the wallet to me by registered post and took just the postage fee from the cash in my wallet. They actioned on the same day! Initially, I asked them to send it by courier, and they managed to save money for me. I got my ID card, a stored value transportation card, two credit cards and cash in my wallet. Though I actually cancelled the credit cards, but the recover of the other things and about 50,000 Yen saved me a lot of money and time. I must express my sincere thanks to the hotel and the staff. They did turn the horrifying ending of my visit into a unforgettable but soothing one.

The service at this hotel is amazing. I don’t think I opened a door once. The property was older but it added to the charm. They have a viewing point of mt Fuji wonderful on a clear day. Shuttle was also nice.

Amazing stay. The property is old, but charming and quaint, and the location is right in front of the lake. But more than that, I have never experienced such a kind and hospitable staff. My wife and I were hiking Mt. Fuji the day after our stay, and the hotel went above and beyond with shuttle service to and from the train station, calling us a taxi and holding our luggage well after check out. The kindness was unmatched on our trip. Thank you, Kawaguchiko Hotel for a memorable experience!

hotel staffs are friendly and helpful

The staff was kind and responsive. The property does have an older feel to it, but that adds to its charm as a lakeside hotel. The 4 person traditional room was a unique and bonding experience for my family. Most restaurants and shops nearby close early, although there is a Lawson’s within walking that is 24/7. There is a hotel shuttle in the mornings, or the taxi ride to the train station is a short and economical 4 minutes away.

The traditional style room is large and very charming. As were the staff, who were all extremely friendly and helpful. We would love to especially shout out the shuttle bus driver who offered to take us to the station even though it was past the scheduled hours

Excellent staff service

The staff members were fabulous! They went above and beyond to give us a ride to the bus station before the normal shuttle service hours the day my son climbed Mount Fuji. I chose this hotel due to proximity to the station and restaurants. This served us well. The room was a little dated and the spa under construction but those things were not an issue for us.

Super séjour. Personnel adorable et très serviable. Le plus: s'être arrangés pour nous donner une chambre avec vue sur le lac alors que ce n'était pas prévu dans notre réservation et nous conduire à la gare pour nous éviter la marche avec nos énormes sacs de voyages.

Très bon séjour. Le personnel est vraiment attentionné et sympathique. Nous avons été surclassé sans rien demander. La chambre était spacieuse avec une belle vue sur le lac. L’hôtel est proche d’une station de location de vélos, ce qui est pratique pour se balader. Cependant le nombre de restaurants à proximité immédiate est assez réduit. Il vous faudra marcher environ 15 min pour arriver arriver au endroits plus fournis. Le onsen a l’étage avec vue sur le Mont Fuji est appréciable. Nous n’avons malheureusement pas pu prendre le petit déjeuner. L’hôtel propose un système de navette gratuite jusqu’à la gare.

対応も丁寧で天皇陛下も宿泊された由緒あるお宿。レトロな雰囲気もとても素敵でした。また河口湖もすぐそばの立地なので散歩も楽しめました。

Beautiful property with magical views of the lake by day and night. The staff were so friendly and informative. We really enjoyed the location by the lake and a short stroll for food, bike rental and Kawaguchiko Station. We stayed in a Japanese style room and found it very comfortable and plenty of space. Hot tip - don’t miss going to the onsen, the view of Mt Fuji is spectacular!

This hotel was old, the room was cleaned, the bed and pillows were okay. Only the customer service was friendly and helpful. The location was a little bit far from the train station.

The place was close to restaurants, convenient stores and lake Kawaguchiko. You can see Mt Fuji from the back of the hotel or you take a walk around the lake. The staffs were very friendly. There is the shuttle transportation in the morning to go to the Kawaguchiko station. They kindly provided the shuttle for us to the station as our bus to Tokyo left at 7 am.

Great place with such a beautiful view. Location wise great next to the lake just far from the train station so be prepare to walk. The hotel does offer services to pick you up but only certain time slots are available. Overall great location. Simple and clean

La struttura ha un bellissimo affaccio sul lago e splendida vista sul monte Fuji dalle terme interne. Ha il servizio navetta gratuito da/verso la stazione ma è comoda da raggiungere anche a piedi. Personale gentilissimo e consigliatissima la colazione giapponese (per una volta provate! E poi state a posto fino a pranzo :D)

We nicknamed the place The Japanese Grand Budapest Hotel. It’s a little worn down but has a lot of history and charm. The staff are lovely, the breakfast is huge and traditional, the bath and sauna are nice and relaxing, and it’s well located. Not modern and fancy but I would recommend.

Excellent unique experience. Definetely would stay again in this older building that has such a wonderful staff, authentic Japanese rooms, wonderful onsen and fronts lovely Lake Kawaguchiko & Mt Fuji. Be sure to reserve the, in advance only, most unique Japanese breakfast experience. 2 mornings and each was different. Great shuttle service. Wish we had stayed 3-4 nights. Walkable to some restaurants and Lawson Store.

The location is perfect and the view is excellent. Highly recommend the breakfast. Hotel staff are very nice. It is wonderful stay.
