We stayed in a renovated condo and it was beautiful. The grounds are beautiful with direct beach access. The pool was always crowded and it is small. No shade either. It also had direct access to the boardwalk to get to food and other options. Really quiet. The resort doesn't have a restaurant but that was fine for us. I would stay again.

Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Quick check in and out. Good dining options in walking distance. Very nice room with ocean view. Only downside was TV in main room was iffy about signal about 1/3 of the time. Very small and crowded pool area. People saving 4 spots for 2 people to move in and out of sun. Pool too deep for wading as was 5-6 feet deep throughout. Overall was a very nice property and well kept up.

Ideal location with great beach, dining, and shopping access and the benefits of being in a condo. Ofc Hawaii is expensive, but an Expedia pricing deal and a kitchen made the Whaler a great hotel resort alternative. Ocean View units have a truly great ocean view; space and condition were good and clean, if slightly dated. Bathroom was spacious, and kitchen was well stocked for what we needed. Front desk service was friendly and helpful. Remember that you won't get cleaning service during your stay. While this property doesn't have dining / bar / shopping options itself, it is right next door to Whaler Village, where options are great. Lobby is staffed around the clock for easy check in / check out. Parking is a little limited in the garage, but a walk from the outer lot isn't bad. Pool area was nice, if a bit small, and two outdoor grilling areas are great if you want to have dinner on your own right by the beach. The only issue I had was a check out receipt that seemed to show an extra "destination charge" being put on my card. It turns out that it wasn't - the charge was built into our pre-paid stay. The only things I can complain about was the pool, my backyard pool if better, and the parking. There was zero underground parking at night. and a long haul from above ground.

I loved the proximity to Whaler Village where it was only a few minutes away! The beach was right by our doorstep and so was the pool and the hot tub. It was unfortunate to not have any housekeeping service throughout our six night stay. I was surprised to be among time share owners and felt a bit awkward whenever I used the pool and hot tub. Four out of six nights did a big group of time share owners seem to have their private party in the shared/common areas.

Great condo. Great location right next to Whaler’s Village and it’s beach restaurants and shops. No restaurants on the location or a swim up pool bar however. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend and the concierge Elise was great.

We can’t say enough good things about this beautiful resort on one of the nicest beaches in Maui! Our room was spectacular: huge, beautifully decorated, with two ample bathrooms, a full kitchen and living room/dining room. We had views of the pool and ocean, and were only steps away from restaurants and shops. The management provided everything cheerfully and fixed all problems immediately. There is one washer and dryer on each floor, free of charge, and we were able to use them without waiting. Pool chairs are free but fill up quickly; there are plenty of other lounge chairs available in grassy areas around the property. On the beach, to which there is direct access from the hotel, you can use the hotel’s regular deck chairs for free, but lounge chairs, umbrellas and cabanas must be rented at a significant charge (and they are always available, don’t need to get there early). You don’t absolutely need a car here, if you are OK with eating at the same few restaurants night after night or cooking in your room, but it’s extremely useful if you want to see other parts of the island. There is free underground parking available, as well as overflow outdoor parking if you get in late, and shopping carts to help you carry groceries and purchases from your car to your room. Elevators were reasonably quick and reliable. The concierge gave us great advice for our travels even when we weren’t purchasing a pre-packaged tour.

Our beachfront view was amazing. We sat out there for hours on end. We also had a view of the courtyard where they had live music on some nights which added to the experience. Our unit was very clean and well appointed. I was not expecting any sort of housekeeping services, but they came by every 3 days or so to get trash and provide new towels.

The resort charged me $165 for resort fees. These are condos with a shared pool. No other services. It is my understanding that the resort fees are included in the total price on Expedia so this was an unpleasant surprise. Our room had cockroaches and other bugs. No services. Had a nice stay. Location was great, beach was great, pool was busy (to be expected) People reserve chairs first thing in the morning then leave for hours, annoying but it is what it is. Whalers Village is next door which is super convenient. Room was clean, but housekeeping doesn’t come. Had a broom but no dust pan, no vacuum. But overall, enjoyed our stay.

Great 2 bedroom condo. Spacious and very clean. Walkable to many restaurants including Whalers village which is right next door. 2 drawbacks : shower temperature was off and hard to adjust, shower was cold for at least 5 min before becoming warm and a very loud noise was always present coming from the generators in whalers village. Our balcony was on that side and it took away from the experience of just sitting outside. Recommend u get condo unit on the opposite side. But otherwise truly a great experience

the actual room was the weakest part of the stay- quite a hodgepodge of decor that didn't really flow. Only 2 bathtowels each for our 4 day stay. beach chairs would have been a lovely touch. the view from the deck was amazing!

It was my first time visiting Maui and I’m soooo happy that I stayed at the Whalers. Location is perfect, parking is easy, staff is super friendly, easy beach access, and sooo many other good things that I wish I have the space to list them all. I can’t fault this place, except for one thing. The room WiFi was not really working for some reason. I could connect to the WiFi but it kept showing “no internet connection”. Although the staff checked it immediately, it was still not quite resolved. But, I’m in Maui, WiFi is the least thing that I need to worry about. Will definitely come back again!

I was in the waterfront suite and it was amazing. Wrap around balcony with a nice kitchen and living room area and two full bathrooms. Awesome ocean view and very close to shops and restaurants.

We didn’t had a good time here at this resort, we took a one bed two bath unit, the only good part about it was the view from balcony. The kitchen was just basic and lacking proper utensils you’d want for cooked meals which is one of the main reasons you’d be staying here instead of a hotel room. The dishwasher wasn’t working. One of the bathrooms had the shower leaking and we were informed later on that it was a known issue even before we checked in which they didn’t care to fix before check-in. There were multiple occasions when false fire alarm went off, at times, early morning around 5, which woke us up abruptly, the alarm kept going on randomly, we were told it was false alarm each time. The bedroom was adjacent to the busy elevators, so the elevator metal clanking noises were heard all day in the bedroom. All in all, this stay was a dampner on our vacation here in Maui. We wouldn’t stay here again.
We didn’t had a good time here at this resort, we took a one bed two bath unit, the only good part about it was the view from balcony. The kitchen was just basic and lacking proper utensils you’d want for cooked meals which is one of the main reasons you’d be staying here instead of a hotel room. The dishwasher wasn’t working. One of the bathrooms had the shower leaking and we were informed later on that it was a known issue even before we checked in which they didn’t care to fix before check-in. There were multiple occasions when false fire alarm went off, at times, early morning around 5, which woke us up abruptly, the alarm kept going on randomly, we were told it was false alarm each time. The bedroom was adjacent to the busy elevators, so the elevator metal clanking noises were heard all day in the bedroom. All in all, this stay was a dampner on our vacation here in Maui. We wouldn’t stay here again.

We stayed 10 nights at the Whaler, we had a studio with ocean view and a kitchen. The hotel was very nice, the bed was really comfortable. The staff was very nice and really responsive.

Stay was amazing. Great location. 1 thing that soured the stay was the night crew desk. We stayed a week and a few time after a late dinner we would ask for towels and toilet paper. Instead of just giving us the items this guy just roasted us on when or how we should have called sooner for those items. I was close to telling him to f off and do his job and give us the items.

We were told we’d have a garden unit. It was next to a mall with air conditioning noise 24/7. Also the FEES!!!!! We had he usual taxes and a resort fee but also an additional $350 service fee. The room cost was 2x. We were told it was for maid service. We did not get maid service. Also the he WiFi is SLOW!!! Don’t let these people rip you off. It’s not Hotels.com it’s the Whaler!! Also, the staff short of the bellman were awful.

We were very pleasantly surprised at how well run The Whaler is. We weren’t sure what to expect knowing that all of the units are privately owned, but it was run essentially like a hotel, with a concierge desk, front desk, house keeping etc. Everything was very clean, including all walkways, elevators and bathrooms near the reception desk. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with everything. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time, the property was lovely and our room was comfortable. The location is awesome, a beautiful view, we saw whales from our balcony and it was so easy to just walk down to the beach. The staff and the concierge were very nice and helpful. The location near Whaler's village makes it easy to grab a quick meal without getting in your car.

The whaler resort was excellent! The staff was first rate all the way, very friendly and helpful. I had a snafu in my reservation. The staff was very cordial and helpful in resolving the issue and very apologetic. The room was beautiful great views. Loved sleeping with the patio door open and listening to the ocean all night. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

It's right on the main tourist area of kaanapali beach with lots of shopping and dining right outside and great access to the beach and great views of the sunset from the oceanview rooms. I appreciated having a full kitchen and not needing to pay resort fees for extras that I would not use.

We stayed in a renovated condo and it was beautiful. The grounds are beautiful with direct beach access. The pool was always crowded and it is small. No shade either. It also had direct access to the boardwalk to get to food and other options. Really quiet. The resort doesn't have a restaurant but that was fine for us. I would stay again.

The room and view were beautiful. We stayed in a premier 1bd suite on the 7th floor. Atmosphere was quiet around the resort. The grounds were kept immaculate and a short walk to shopping and dining next door. Leilani’s on the Beach is fantastic at bothe the restaurant and more casual bar area!

Ideal location with great beach, dining, and shopping access and the benefits of being in a condo. Ofc Hawaii is expensive, but an Expedia pricing deal and a kitchen made the Whaler a great hotel resort alternative. Ocean View units have a truly great ocean view; space and condition were good and clean, if slightly dated. Bathroom was spacious, and kitchen was well stocked for what we needed. Front desk service was friendly and helpful. Remember that you won't get cleaning service during your stay. While this property doesn't have dining / bar / shopping options itself, it is right next door to Whaler Village, where options are great. Lobby is staffed around the clock for easy check in / check out. Parking is a little limited in the garage, but a walk from the outer lot isn't bad. Pool area was nice, if a bit small, and two outdoor grilling areas are great if you want to have dinner on your own right by the beach. The only issue I had was a check out receipt that seemed to show an extra "destination charge" being put on my card. It turns out that it wasn't - the charge was built into our pre-paid stay. Clarifying that would help. My favorite thing about this property? The amazing beachfront, right in the middle of the Kaanapali stretch, with the mini boardwalk making walking to dinner, excursions, etc. easy. Watching the whales from shore every day was amazing! Wow! The condo unit is as described. It is clean and nicely furnished with most everything you need for an enjoyable Maui vacation. The view from the unit and the lanai is sensational. You are only less than 100 yards to the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean. You have the backdrop of seeing Lanai Island which is 6 miles offshore. The best part is the unit is situated so that you have a view to your left of the West Maui Mountains and beautiful sunrises every morning. Then if you look slightly to your right, you have a front row seat to the world-famous Hawaiian sunsets! You can see beautiful sunrises and sunsets every day without leaving your condo unit. This is probably the best unit in the best location in Maui.

We have been to Hawaii several times. My family all acknowledged that this has been our favorite stay. The room was desirable, the terrace was amazing, and a 90 second walk to the beach was amazing. We hope to return soon.
